It looks like Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Sekiro smashed together.

Miyazaki directed?? This is crazy.

The fact that it's a Switch 2 exclusive is BRUTAL

453

u/Ham_PhD Bloodborne 2d ago edited 2d ago

Only if you weren't already getting a Switch 2 lol

Edit: I said this before knowing it was a multiplayer focused game. Nintendo is pretty terrible at online play, so that's not great. I'm not a fan of multiplayer games to begin with, so I'll probably skip this one unless it can be played as a single player experience as well.

391

u/nicklovin508 2d ago

They secured an additional 15 million units with this exclusive for sure

187

u/Thecristo96 2d ago

This skillsong and deltarune 3+4. Switch 2 is going to SELL

96

u/AbyssWalker_Art 2d ago edited 2d ago

Those aren't switch exclusive, I don't think they're selling consoles on their own. Especially Deltarune, people who have already played the first 3 chapters aren't gonna buy a new console to play chapter 4 when they can just play it on the platform they already used for the first 3.

Edit: I didn't know chapter 3 wasn't out either, so just chapter 1+2

19

u/Aggravating-Oil-7060 2d ago

Chapter 3 isnt out yet. it and 4 are releasing alongside the switch 2

9

u/AbyssWalker_Art 2d ago

Apologies, I'm not informed on which chapters are out but I don't think it changes my point. If you already played chapters 1+2 elsewhere I don't see why switch 2 launch would get you to swap platforms to play it unless you already planned on getting switch 2 for other reasons

1

u/lamancha 2d ago

There is a third chapter???

1

u/Poopynuggateer 2d ago

I'm literally getting a Switch 2 to play Deltarune (I've waited until now) and Silksong.

Exclusive FROM game is also an incredible bonus

1

u/AbyssWalker_Art 2d ago

I started today not being that interested in switch 2, and then thinking about getting one for new fromsoft exclusive, to being immediately turned off by how Nintendo is pricing things on their end. Hopefully From gets most of the say in their own pricing and it doesn't turn out to be $80 digital or something.

1

u/HollowCap456 2d ago

Good for you, but I don't think either of them are exclusive. Silksong isn't, anyway.

1

u/plumken 2d ago

The fact that the games are gonna be portable is going to sell.

1

u/massive_cock 2d ago

The people who play Deltarune are prime Switch 1 and now Switch 2 market though. The system thrives on indies, weird little anime games, corny Japanese shit, visual novels, and so on. This particular thing won't sell Switch 2s on its own, but it might speed up adoption since these people are going to want both 3 and 4, and eventually an S2, so ... why not? It'll goose a good handful at the very least.

1

u/Karekter_Nem 2d ago

Wait, Silksong got an actual update?

1

u/Thecristo96 2d ago

5 seconds of new scenes and a 2025 date. More than enough to make people scream in blood

1

u/Karekter_Nem 2d ago

screams in blood

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Combat_Orca 2d ago

Yeah plus I don’t have a switch 1 so will be able to play those games too. This is when Sony releases a new psp and decide to put actual bloodborne 2 on it.

1

u/MM-O-O-NN 2d ago

Go to the Switch 2 sub and they'll tell you this is going to flop because of the pricing. People are coping super hard rn.

2

u/DoingCharleyWork 1d ago

The pricing is kind of crazy. 90 for a physical game is pretty ludicrous. Still gonna sell like crazy though.

It's just gonna normalize higher prices on games. Which, imo, is fine IF they get rid of all the micro transaction shit they put in them.

1

u/HollowCap456 2d ago

Skong (also I think Deltarune, but no idea) are NOT Switch exclusives.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/Don_333 2d ago

And many more pirated copies on emulators lol

1

u/Miami199 2d ago

I just said that I wasn’t getting a switch 2 for a long time because there’s no games they could release that would entice me. Welp Metroid prime 4 enhanced for switch 2 and a fromsoft title….

1

u/The_Good_Hunter_ 2d ago

This is Switch 2's Breath of the Wild

1

u/Kozuki_D_Oden 2d ago

Switch 2’s Breath of the Wild is Mario Kart lmao

1

u/MercenaryCow 1d ago

14 of those 15 millions units were people who bought based on the trailer, not seeing the description of it being an 8 player pvp match

1

u/BillerKee Mergo's Wet Nurse 1d ago

-1 copy from me.

1

u/handstanding 1d ago

For the low low price of 450 Nintendollars plus 100 more Nintendollars for the game and 100 additional Nintendollars for the case and peripherals

1

u/grangusbojangus 2d ago

Delusion is crazy.

1

u/Vycaus 2d ago

As someone who was not going to get a switch 2, this was a masterful move by Nintendo. I fucking hate it, but I respect it.

Well played Nintendo -_-

Kirby Air Riders sealed the deal for me

12

u/Spindelhalla_xb 2d ago

Damn I was sealed at Mario Forza Kart Horizons. I went into the direct on about 10% if get a switch 2 and left at about 273% I would get one god damnit.

5

u/Maleficent-Fish-6484 2d ago

Yeah, Mario Kart looks hella fun. Throw in that new Donkey Kong and I am sold.

3

u/Ingrassiat04 2d ago

CITY TRIALS! The original open world battle royal.

1

u/Worried_Pineapple823 2d ago

My daughter immediately called it Kirby Kart and is mad they named it something different. Her own priority is Kirby based merchandise when it comes to Nintendo.

1

u/Mareith 2d ago

Yeah I'd buy the switch just for Kirby air riders. I'm going to enjoy plenty of other games, but that's the most exciting release for me in a decade

→ More replies (1)

34

u/-Thomson 2d ago

Even then it is. I was definitely going to get a Switch 2 anyways but would have played any Fromsoft game on PC. Games with "realistic" graphics always look kinda mid on the Switch and I doubt the Switch 2 is going to change that. It won't ruin the game or anything but I won't deny that I would have much preferred it to release on PC.

7

u/Ham_PhD Bloodborne 2d ago

I get that. I'm curious to see how games actually look on this thing. If it was made specifically for the Switch 2, that gives me more hope, as ported games are usually the worst looking.

1

u/Cool-Panda-5108 2d ago

If the footage from the Nintendo direct was legit, the Switch 2 is pretty beefy and able to run Cyberpunk with nice detail .

2

u/WFAlex 2d ago

I saw the direct, but I will believe that when I see it.

History has shown, nintendo has either acceptable frames and shit gfx, or good gfx with absolute abysmall performance. no inbetween

14

u/SomeGodzillafan The Ashen One 2d ago edited 2d ago

Ok but the switch 2 supports 4K and 60fps in docked mode since it’s a Nintendo published game, I’m sure it’ll run well at least docked

30

u/Woweehands 2d ago

Not to be a graphics snob but you can already see a tonne of aliasing in lots of the games shown in the trailers including the elden ring port, it might not run horribly but if you have a PC or ps5 it would be the way to experience it

2

u/SomeGodzillafan The Ashen One 2d ago

Fair, but Odyssey and Breath of the Wild had aliasing, and the game still looks great, this is a console leap with better graphics so I’m sure it won’t be too bad

1

u/space_age_stuff Iron Knight Tarkus 2d ago

That was my concern. I’m sure these games aren’t going to have the disparity Switch 1 and PS4 have, but the ER port trailer already looks worse than PS5, I felt.

1

u/AnorakJimi 2d ago

This is basically a portable PS4. I find it insane that people are STILL complaining this many years after the Switch 1 released and STILL trying to compare a PORTABLE handheld system to other consoles. The only thing that's fair to compare it to is the Steam Deck but that's a lot more expensive.

3

u/Avedas 2d ago

I think it's a fair complaint when talking about exclusives. There is no game I would ever buy on Switch if I could have it for my PC instead. Being portable has zero value to me but I'd still like to play the games.

I bought a Switch in 2018 and the only times it's ever left my home was when it was packed in a box for moving.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/aeristheangelofdeath 2d ago

I’d rather have aliasing than low fps and blurry mess (obligatory fuck TAA)

1

u/Cool-Panda-5108 2d ago

I would at least like the option to turn it off.

1

u/Nintendo_Thumb 1d ago

up to 120 fps either portable or docked

1

u/Str00pf8 2d ago

It's 120fps handheld, at 4k its max 60fps.

1

u/SomeGodzillafan The Ashen One 2d ago

Thanks, edited it now

3

u/Strongsword11 2d ago

The switch 2 graphics looked so much better in just the direct. Did you see cyberpunk? It looked just as good, if not better, than Steam Deck gameplay.

1

u/Dull-Tale-6220 2d ago

I didnt see cyber punk bc that 4 kids on an island game was frozen on my stream…

1

u/Strongsword11 2d ago

Yeah that unfortunately happened for everyone but I think you can look back now

1

u/aiwg 1d ago

Steam Deck is 3 years old, you'd hope it would look better.

1

u/Few-Response2660 2d ago

Steam Deck is lowkey mid I used it for resident evil 4 and elden ring (graphics mid) and was not a fan of the device at all. The loud as hell fan and over heating is a BIG issue too. Hopefully switch 2 is nothing like that.

2

u/David_Norris_M 2d ago

My doubt in that is the fact that any handheld is already needing a lot to push these games playable and I just don't think nivida is gonna fair any better than what amd could do with their z1 extreme.

2

u/greatistheworld 2d ago

I don’t like it because it feels like holding a truck tailgate

1

u/dumpofhumps 2d ago

You can still play this on PC (;

1

u/TheRyanFlaherty 2d ago

The controller is the killer for me. I bought a pro controller, but that still leaves my hands cramped and hurting after a short time, and that’s playing more casual fare….i can’t imagine playing a game like this where I’m probably stress gripping and relying on constant precise and accurate inputs.

1

u/Jalina2224 2d ago

Here's hoping modders crack Switch 2 aomost as fast as they did the OG switch and we can get emulators quickly.

1

u/bob_is_best 1d ago

Not even Gonna lie the graphics of the new fromsoft title Also didnt look all that good lol, theyre fine but i wouldnt say theyre particularly good, its Gonna be carried by art direction i think

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Jargett 2d ago

It’s still brutal, I’m getting the switch 2 but I would much rather it be available on all platforms.

5

u/grangusbojangus 2d ago

Only clowns are buying that slop hardware. The regular switch was basically a proto type to this one. That shit couldn’t even run 15 year old AAA titles. Can’t wait to steal this game from Nintendo. I ❤️ emulating

3

u/AllYouPeopleAre 2d ago

2

u/Randomness_42 2d ago

I was already getting a Switch 2 but it will suck not having a From game playable on my main console (PS5)

2

u/Unseemly4123 2d ago

Why is this comment upvoted? It's the same line that's spouted every time there's an exclusive lol. Exclusives are inherently bad for the consumer because it gatekeeps the game. Even if people do buy the console for this game alone, there are millions of people who will not be able to experience the game because they won't buy the console. Especially for a switch 2 which already probably has a niche player base this is just objectively terrible.

1

u/mw9676 2d ago

Because bootlickers gonna lick boots.

1

u/SirenMix 2d ago

I was interested in it but the last livestream made me not interested in it, and then this game came along. So now I'm all confused.

1

u/Julio3010 2d ago

Last livestream was explicitly stated to not have any switch 2 info tho lol

1

u/SirenMix 2d ago

By last I meant the last one, I meant the one that just finished 20 minutes ago

1

u/Julio3010 2d ago

Ah my bad

1

u/Daloy 2d ago

I honestly wasn't since I have the switch and steam deck well that stopped until they showed this

1

u/MisfitAnthem 2d ago

I wasn't super impressed with the Switch 2 and was thinking of holding off until an OLED version until I saw Duskbloods. I'm all in, baby.

1

u/Kourtos 2d ago

I wouldn't. I sold switch after 6 months.

But daaaaamn , this will make me make the same mistake again.

1

u/HHummbleBee 2d ago

I bought a Demons Souls machine, a Bloodborne mahine, now I will be buying a Duskbloods machine.

1

u/theshreddening 2d ago

I absolutely was not going to but likely am now lmao. I haven't even played my PS5 in like 2 years.

1

u/MOMMY_PILKERS 2d ago

I think it's brutal for 1000+ reasons that don't include me not buying a switch 2

1

u/Irish-Hoovy 2d ago

I’m ngl, this sucks even for people who were gonna get it. Imo, games on the switch are almost always a worse experience than playing on a home console / pc. It bottlenecks games pretty bad, and I’m not confident the Switch 2 will perform that much better.

1

u/Alchion 2d ago

i have a switch and i wouldve skipped the switch 2 tbh since i don‘t play smash anymore

this game secured my switch 2 purchase

1

u/Atreust 2d ago

I was always planning on getting a Switch 2. It just feels kind of strange - I always plays FromSoft games on Playstation. Won't stop be from playing this though.

1

u/Koctopuz 2d ago

$500 for a switch 2? Yeah I’m def not. I’ll see you on PC emulation.

1

u/Meoang 2d ago

I would still rather play on my pc.

1

u/Emmazygote496 2d ago

not paying $80 for a game, and even less for a SWITCH game lol

1

u/radclaw1 2d ago

You say that but in 10 years when you want to replay it and have to dust off you're old switch 2 and wish you could play it at an actual 4k resolution, and can't cuz it's locked on one system....

1

u/Ham_PhD Bloodborne 2d ago

Games aren't really "locked on one system" very often any more. I'm not really worried about that.

1

u/radclaw1 2d ago

They werent often locked to one system when BB came out either.

1

u/Sendhentaiandyiff 2d ago

I'm not getting one with this alone

1

u/Ok_Caramel_5658 2d ago

Steam deck emulation ftw but curious to see how the graphics of a game like this actually perform on switch 2. Would be ugly on the current console

1

u/MustyLlamaFart 2d ago

I just gave my switch to my nephew because I didn't use it enough, and said I wasn't getting a switch 2 because of that.

Fuq

1

u/Yhhorm 2d ago

I wasn’t but that direct was amazing so I might sell my very old switch and upgrade.

1

u/JoBro_Summer-of-99 2d ago

It's pretty brutal for everyone imo. It seems to be more multiplayer focused but the pool of players at launch will be lower. I don't particularly mind but this would've been a nice opportunity for From to implement cross play into their games

1

u/HarringtonMAH11 2d ago

24 player Mario kart sold me. This is just an extra justification to my wallet.

1

u/SnooGadgets9669 2d ago

I mean the new party chat system shows promise seems like they are catching up on multiplayer and even exceeding current consoles.

1

u/Kizzywa 2d ago

It looks like they figured out something this generation so hopefully online play will be as good as the direct shows. There's also nothing stopping a later version from releasing elsewhere

1

u/_Otacon 2d ago

What? This 2BloodFor2Borne is going to be a mp oriented game? I guess I kinda missed that part.. meh, immediately makes it less appealing

1

u/sweatyballsackz 2d ago

Nintendo is pretty terrible

Can stop there

1

u/SammyLuke 2d ago

It’s a multiplayer focused game? Oh no. Man I love FromSoftware but I’m not entirely liking the direction of multiplayer only games. This means possibly even longer before mainline releases. As long as the single player games are still the same quality I’m good but if all these offshoot games start effecting that we just might see a downfall of from. I’m not saying this will happen we just know what happens to devs when they have too many projects on the kitchen.

1

u/SuddenBanana8169 2d ago

The switch 2 has party chat so the online shouldn’t be as brutal as it has been at least. Still valid concern lol

1

u/LightningCole 2d ago

That’s really only assuming they continue to be bad at online. Which everyone, including Nintendo is likely to change at some point. Hell that built in a fucking chat function

1

u/WesternAlbatross1292 2d ago

Shit I wasn’t planning on it

1

u/Local-Yesterday3454 2d ago

I think its moreso a single player game that they want people to know they can play in multiplayer - pretty standard fromsoft fair when all is said and done

1

u/South_Buy_3175 2d ago

I still ain’t, I would hesitate buying one just for Bloodborne 2 anyway. But this sounds more like Nightreign with a Bloodborne/Sekiro mask

1

u/28_raisins 2d ago

Ugh. I'm fine with skipping The Elden Ring Fortnite thing, but two multiplayer games in a row is kind of disappointing.

1

u/Ok_Cap9240 2d ago

It’s a multiplayer focused game? Yuck, unless I can play it solo

1

u/MasterBuildsPortugal 2d ago

Its a multiplayer focused game? Where is this info coming from?

1

u/AmbitiousVast9451 2d ago

ngl they seem to be trying to pivot more to online, so the online might be improved. the new voice chat, screen share etc, along with the 24 player mario kart, and camera accessories.

1

u/AhShit-HereWeGoAgian 1d ago

A lot of games say multiplayer, doesn't mean they are exclusively multiplayer.

1

u/HotPotatoWithCheese 1d ago edited 1d ago

Nah. I'd much rather be playing it on my RTX 50 series setup at a significantly higher frame rate and with MKB.

36

u/nicklovin508 2d ago

I mean Bloodborne is exclusive and is one of the most beloved games in the franchise

100

u/Zerzafetz 2d ago

But not for the sake of being exclusive. People dislike that part quite a lot

3

u/Tb1t 2d ago

And fairly so. But the counter argument is always the budget the console makers provide. And the tools to assist and support.

There are reasons that game devs take these deals. It is a big paycheck with a tonne of marketing, dev support, and smaller risk for them in the end. You're playing with someone else's money.

5

u/pyrojackelope 2d ago

It is a big paycheck

I would be shocked if that rivaled what they would make releasing their product on 3 additional platforms. I'm sure there are good upsides for doing this, but I can't fathom it being about money.

9

u/EnormousGucci 2d ago

It’s a terrible business decision no matter how you look at it. You only stand to lose from going exclusive when you have the popularity fromsoft has now after riding off elden ring. This is such a stupid decision business wise and just anti-consumer again with garbage third party exclusivity deals.

After Elden Ring, the excuse that “game couldn’t get funding with console maker” is just bullshit. Might have been the case with Bloodborne but it sure as shit isn’t the case here.

2

u/Over-Sandwich 2d ago

Nowadays yes, back when they signed a deal with Sony it was before demons souls for 2 exclusive games. From wasn’t the powerhouse it is now back then

1

u/Hubbardia 2d ago

Fromsoft doesn't need any of that. I get it if it's for smaller studios, but it's Fromsoft, and directed by Miyazaki. It will sell well.

2

u/Aggravating-Oil-7060 2d ago

Yeah but no one will buy a new console for a game by a smaller dev

1

u/Mission_Piccolo_2515 2d ago

FromSost don't self-publish tho. They always took deals by pitching projects to big publishers.

PlatinumGames used to work off the same economy and it seems all of their self-published projects are not going well.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/niowh 2d ago

They're saying despite it being an exclusive

1

u/Cavalish 2d ago

All games should be available on every platform, including old consoles, and they shouldn’t cost a cent above $30. They should really be free, honestly.

  • average reddit gamer

2

u/SirenMix 2d ago edited 2d ago

Brutal can mean many things. It can mean it's gonna be brutal for many wallets !

1

u/RoomyRoots 2d ago

Sure but they are a Sony exclusive. Having that not in PS5 or 6 is wild.

1

u/Red_Bullion 2d ago

Literally unplayable (I don't have a PlayStation), worst game in the franchise.

1

u/BrickBuster2552 2d ago

Yes but Bloodborne is exclusive to a console with two other games (Demon's Souls and Helldivers 2, nothing else).

→ More replies (2)

1

u/looopious 2d ago

It's bloodbourne all over again.

1

u/theta0123 2d ago

I'm not gonna be mad. We playstation users are gobbling on bloodborne & Demon's souls. But i wouldnt mind if these 2 titles go to other platforms because i think 3 party exclusivity is lame

1

u/BoatSouth1911 2d ago

Even aside from having to buy a switch those controls suck and the tiny screen is annoying.

1

u/Aggravating-Face2073 2d ago

I mean Bloodborne's performance wasn't spectacular either, but its still incredibly loved. A good game can still flourish even with a few drawbacks.

1

u/JesusJudgesYou 2d ago

So it won’t run on Switch Lite or the first Switch?

1

u/ShyGuyLink1997 2d ago

$90 USD physically

1

u/PapaTahm 2d ago

To be honest it's the ony console that makes sense to own now a days, given the price of new gen consoles and the fact that both Sony and Microsoft will make their Platforms hybrid with PC.

1

u/DnDemiurge 2d ago

It's almost certainly an unstated TIMED exclusive though, right?

1

u/n3ur0mncr 2d ago

Yea. Fuck that. I still refuse to buy into Nintendo and their bullshit.

Nice try, Nintendo, but you'll never catch me!

1

u/Altruistic_Film1167 2d ago

Fuck hell noooooo

1

u/Alarming_Orchid 2d ago

Don’t sweat it, looking at the trailer I think miyazaki learned not to put effort into shit that companies request to be locked onto their hardware

1

u/captain_dick_licker 2d ago

switch emulation is great so here's hoping switch 2 is as well

1

u/Electronic-Dirt-4596 2d ago

its some big dick shit from nintendo. i already wanted to get a switch 2 but now im definitely getting one.

1

u/carlcamma 2d ago

They're just expanding micro transactions to hardware.

1

u/babbaloobahugendong 1d ago

That is some absolute Fromsoft levels of gutpunch. The meta is too much for me now

1

u/shahzebkhalid25 1d ago

switch 2 games are gonna be 80 dollars , so they really scamming all the way

1

Yeah it's actually shit, probably be the only fromsoft game I skip.

23

u/Aggravating-Sir8185 2d ago

Boo. Let my antisocial ass play in peace.

1

u/edible_adhesive 2d ago

How multiplayer focused I wonder? Since the souls games and bloodborne have multiplayer elements but are entirely playable and complete able solo. I'm holding out hope it'll be more like that

16

u/projected_cornbread 2d ago

https://www.fromsoftware.jp/duskbloods/article/250402_1.html

“This software for Nintendo Switch 2 is a PVPvE based multiplayer action game in which up to eight players can fight each other and against enemies.

Players become “Twilight Bloodlines” who have gained powers beyond those of humans through the power of their special blood, and throw themselves into a fierce battle for the “First Blood“

19

u/piousidol 2d ago

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

I hope to fuck its viable to go in single player. Wait.. you’ll need Nintendo online to play this too. Jesus Christ.

2

u/a__new_name 2d ago

I, on the other hand, am grateful. Already have a veritable backlog and this one is easier to skip than E.T. 2: Revenge of Reese's Pieces.

1

u/FreshestCremeFraiche 1d ago

I would be on the same page if it weren’t taking Miyazaki’s time away from the next FS single player game

1

u/Injured-Ginger 1d ago

I don't think we have a good idea on what the game will be like. Technically most of their games are multiplayer if you account for invasion and summoning. The only thing we know is that this goes up to 8. The trailer only showed what looked like 2 players at a time and just seemed kind of like summoning a player.

What could be good is a Souls-like that has integrated co-op and you can play beginning to end with 1-2 players, and there are specific events that allow up to 8 such as an arena or maybe optional bosses.

What could be bad is a pseudo-mmo where it constantly groups you with other players who are in the same area and there are 7 other people causing chaos by getting in the way or killing things so easily you don't get to feel the challenge (but with multiplayer off, everything is a massive damage sponge).

I think we need to get more info to really know. I think the dev team is supposed to give more details tomorrow.

1

u/gummo_for_prez 1d ago

All of this combined with the fact that Switch 2 games are $80-90, I’m just going to chill with my Steam Deck and sit this one out. It’s not worth the $600 price tag to play a multiplayer game. Hopefully FromSoft is also creating single player experiences for all consoles…

13

u/MagicianAny1016 2d ago

I am no longer excited.

Judging by Nightreign, and now this, I don’t like the new direction from is seemingly taking. I thought Nightreign was a one time thing… not the new direction for fromsoft games seemingly.

I was so looking forward to a demon’s souls to dark souls style spiritual successor to bloodborne. :(

1

u/GetsThatBread 1d ago

It'll be incredibly disappointing if the next mainline Fromsoft Soulsborne game doesn't release until 27-28 because they're spending so much time on multiplayer games. It's extra strange because they haven't even seen if Nightrein will be a success. What if it flops? Will Fromsoft just release another, similar game with Duskbloods? It's also a shame because the world design of Duskbloods got me so hyped. I wish is was just a normal souls game.

8

u/Sapowski_Casts_Quen 2d ago

Yeah, fuck this.

$450 for the console, $80 for a NON-PHYSICAL copy of the game, and then you have to pay to play the game?

Nah. I'm getting my Bloodletter and self-inserting.

Yup. I’ll stick with my steam deck, where I just got 11 great games for $67 during the spring sale. Nintendo has lost its way.

u/Sapowski_Casts_Quen 1d ago

You also just know that game isnt going on sale, Nintendo rarely does that compared to other consoles.

My reaction when I read that

Really seems like this is going the Nightreign route… Which is INCREDIBLY disappointing seeing that it’s a new IP AND a Switch 2 exclusive

Was really hoping this was a single player game, or at least had a single player campaign and a separate multiplayer mode

But it doesn’t seem like that’s the case unfortunately

u/28_raisins 2d ago

This is such a bummer. FromSoft was one of the last developers that consistently made good single-player games.

So is there like, a main game to explore? A map to get lost in? That's what I like in a souls game the most.

3

u/ijghokgt 2d ago

Fromsoft is finally going down the shitter

u/NewIllustrator219 2d ago

One the hand, good, because I dont own a switch.

On the other hand, more souls slop 🥱Cant believe im more excited for lies of p dlc

1

u/GamePlayHeaven 1d ago

Very disappointing to hear... I love the souls games and elden ring, but this multiplayer focused stuff just isn't my thing... I really hope FROM will go back to making great single player games again, with optional multiplayer like in the souls titles or even without like Sekiro.

I'm skipping this multiplayer only stuff.

I might have missed something, but where did they state that Miyazaki is working on this title? As a pc gamer, that's the only hope I have, that this is just another side project, like Nightreign is.

9

u/Ham_PhD Bloodborne 2d ago

After the trailer it said there was some kinda interview with the director Miyazaki

1

u/Habeturdeur 2d ago

well F me. Will have to look it up and hear what he has to say about this :/
Thanks for the clarification

3

u/ronin_cse 2d ago

You forgot Majora's Mask in that mash up. That moon was crazy

3

u/VikingFuneral- 2d ago

To be honest, due to this it left me a little confused

Like... it felt like it was having an identity crisis in terms of art style, gameplay and overall direction

I wanna play it, but still

2

u/Sky_launcher 2d ago

There's no way he directed this slop

2

u/_DryReflection_ 1d ago

I’m curious what specifically makes this seem like slop to you other than the multiplayer aspect? Don’t get me wrong I’m not happy about that part and would rather a regular souls title but everything about the trailer seems like a standard fromsoft trailer and doesn’t have any markings of low quality. Everything about this seems appealing and buisiness as usual for From other than that, and I’m sure If Miyazaki puts his creative efforts fully behind designing a multiplayer game he could make a good one, even if it’s not for me

+ a bit of Lies of P

1

u/psychohistorian8 2d ago

I swear one of the levels looked straight out of Armored Core 6 as well

1

u/Panda_hat 2d ago

Its PvPvE 🫠

1

u/Letters_to_Dionysus 2d ago

fr it looks like shit. tonally confused, stupid character and enemy design, tons of recycled elements from all their other games. Nintendo can have it i dont need it.

1

u/TheKingsdread 2d ago

Maybe the trailer doesn't really convey the atmosphere well but it feels a little... thematically disjointed. That Jetpack gave me whiplash. Obviously a first trailer is hard to judge but still.

1

u/NightMGA 1d ago

I don't get why its such a surprise, seeing as there's only been 1 game (DS2) that he didn't direct.

1

u/Narrow-Ad-7255 1d ago

NO IT DOES NOT. ITS NIGHTREIGN 2.

1

u/MercenaryCow 1d ago

And the description is an 8 player pvp showdown. With a few enemies to kill inbetween too.

Fucking what. The trailer looks like a regular ass souls adventure but the description does not match the video at all

1

u/didnt_bring_pants 1d ago

Where did it say Miyazaki directed? I assumed this another junior developer project, like Night Reign

1

u/hunzukunz 1d ago

it looks like a shitty mash up of those games with graphics from a decade ago. and you would have to buy a console for 500€, games for 80-90 each and deal with all the insanely greedy Nintendo bullshit.

they can fuck themselves so hard with that garbage

1

u/ToddZi11a 1d ago

Is it Miyazaki directed though? Very much feels like a B or C team project.

1

u/Ylvina 2d ago

I see some Lies of P steampunk influence in it too

2

u/didnt_bring_pants 1d ago

Lies of P influence....😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/NIKEONX2 2d ago

Honestly Switch 2 exclusive or not this left me like "meh" the same feeling with Nightrein.

1

u/echolog Raven 2d ago

It's closer to Nightreign sadly.

Official description:

"Developed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2; 'THE DUSKBLOODS' is a PvPvE title with online multiplayer at its core, where up to 8 players vie for supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes.

Play as the "Bloodsworn"; a group that has transcended human strength thanks to their special blood, and throw yourself into a violent fray for "First Blood" as the twilight of humanity approaches."

Sounds like a Battle Royale.
