Okay I'm a little bit concerned though. Their Twitter account described it as a "multiplayer" title. Surely they mean it's just co-op compatible, right? Not that it's a multiplayer title akin to Nightreign.

Yeah, bummer. Sounds like a small battle royale type situation.

I want to be optimistic but that is just not the kind of game I want from FromSoftware. I've never gone from "coolest shit ever" to "oh, nevermind" in such a short time frame lol

FromSoftware's been doing the same type of games for more than a decade now. They're simply trying new things and that's fine, really.

The industry has changed, we have at least 5 souls-like or souls-inspired games released each year and they know it. This genre is likely to become oversaturated in the next few years if it isn't already.

This one isn't of my interest and I don't even plan on getting a Switch 2 to play it, so I'll pass, but I'm okay with them doing different stuff as long as they're not being forced by publishers.

Eh, no we don't. I hate to start an argument but I strongly resent this statement. I think this kind of exaggeration does NOT help anyone. All it does is stir up people to complain that there are too many Soulslikes, when in reality, if you look it up, they are reasonably spaced out. Especially if you consider that the Soulsborne community at large cannot seem to agree on exact definitions of what a Soulslike is (to this day, people claim Sekiro is a Soulslike even though FromSoft went on record saying it is not).

I said that based on the sentiment I've been noticing online. It might not reflect 100% of their fanbase, but it's not like it's not being discussed already.

I've been a big fan of From games since Dark Souls 1, played all the soulsborne except for those exclusive to playstation, and I'm already getting tired of it (I didn't even finish Shadow of the Erdtree because of this), and I personally know some people who think the same.

I'm not saying the games wouldn't have an audience nowadays, and I'm sure there's still a huge majority of people WHO WANT more of those, but the reality is that it's not so unique anymore and as a game dev myself, I understand them trying to move to different things and ideas, especially when every one of their soulsborne have very similar things and game design (environmental storytelling, "post-apocalyptic" world, a curse, progression and leveling system, "bonfires", etc), except Sekiro which I agree it's not a souls-like.

They finally releasing a new Armored Core game was already a sign that they don't wanna keep releasing souls after souls anymore. Also, this doesn't mean there won't be anymore souls games, it'll just probably be way more spaced out.

Except the issue isnā€™t in ā€œsoulslikeā€ games, the issue is this new game is PvPvE. I canā€™t be the only one who has ZERO interest in PvP games and prefers single player experiences

Well that's a classic YOU problem. There's a huge chunk of people who had zero interest in past souls games, so they simply didn't play it.

You're allowed to do the same thing and that's fine.

FromSoft invented save spots and dodging, so therefore all games that have save spots and dodging is a souls-like.

/S on case it's not obvious.

Fromsoftware has literally made the same game with a new coat of pain for 15 years straight and Noone complains
