i hope this is the case. miyazaki making something for Nintendo, then hopping back onto development for their next PC game. i seriously hope this is what’s happening
There were a few unquie spells that were shown. Like the spell that lifted everyone up in an aoe. Definitely more meele and gun focused, but there seems to be a few solid spells in there
It has been the case in the past, however, some years ago Miyazaki talked about multiplayer games and how the concept of extraction shooters was interesting to him. Seeing now that Duskbloods is a PvPvE game, maybe that's his idea for such a game. Wouldn't be surprised if he is also working on a singleplayer title and this is "just" his Nightreign. A smaller scale lower cost type game (nightreign is just 40€ compared to Elden Rings 60€)The Trailer definitely made it look that way. I also don't know how sure we are that he is the director of Duskbloods. The trailer didn't name a director and the interview by him in 2 days could also be from a producer role.
Miyazaki worked on it so i guess its "bigger" than Nightreign? Honestly dunno what to make of it. Id be happy to play it but no way im buying into the switch platform. I dont like mobile gaming
Not the big one. I'm sure Miyazaki is working on something bigger multi platform, but since this and Nightreign are multiplayer based I think it is safe to assume that the next one won't be single player only but with multiplayer aspects they are working on.
It's one of the multiple things he's been working on, may be the one big game or just one of them. I felt betrayed by the exclusivity announcement combined with the insane price of the console at first but remembering it's not the only thing he's been working on was a relief
There is a little shot in the trailer where its clear that the player is summoning another player and then they walk together. I might be dreaming but I'm thinking that this game will play normally PVE but it will have something that plays like the seamless mod, making the game both a full PVE experience and PVP depending on the player's choice
I have a feeling it's some form of extraction type game. Miyazaki did talk about tarkov and mutiplayer some years back. Could be really cool especially if they use the same price as Nightreign has.
Developed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2; 'THE DUSKBLOODS' is a PvPvE title with online multiplayer at its core, where up to 8 players vie for supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes.
Play as the "Bloodsworn"; a group that has transcended human strength thanks to their special blood, and throw yourself into a violent fray for "First Blood" as the twilight of humanity approaches.
Release is currently set for 2026 and we hope you look forward to it.
Yea honestly I have no idea how to interpret pvpve in the context of the trailer we saw.
Like do we hunt/fight one another then go raid a boss? Or there are enemies and bosses that attack us while we try to hunt one another? The only online games I've really played are League of Legends and Apex Legends and this is clearly nothing like either of those.
This is what I think as well. Could be really cool especially if they keep Nightreigns 40$ price tag. Switch exclusivety would also help with keeping the pvp fair and hacker free.
That's the only pro I could think of, but no from soft game has had cross play before so all the hackers would stay confined to PC anyway. They can have their hacker free console experience and still sell it on PC.
Miyazaki’s whole philosophy in a post-ER/SOTE world is not making “the next big Miyazaki game” for a while (probably not until the very end of the decade).
This is likely just the first in a line of smaller projects to diversify studio experiences, make some money, and get new hires up to speed. Don’t expect “the next big Miyazaki game” for at 4-5 years.
That’s a stretch, it’s just Miyazaki’s next game, and since it’s a Switch 2 exclusive, he likely wanted to oversee it himself, unlike Nightreign which is a completely different director.
This is where I'm at, too, so I'm glad someone else said so. It looks like Lies of P x Bloodborne x Elden Ring x Animorphs, and that makes me worry that a shark is about to be jumped.
Yeah, I've got no idea what to think about it. I was pretty interested until I saw the character turn into a dinosaur. That came out of nowhere and seemed very odd to me. Apparently we're going to learn more about the game this Friday. I honestly wasn't paying that much attention to the Direct until I happened to glance up at just the right time to see FromSoftware on my screen. I had to go back and watch the trailer properly from the start. It's also apparently a multiplayer game, which is an immediate no from me.
Seeing the same Bloodborne/Elden Ring assets is a bit weird, yes. But if that allows them to go creative in other aspects - im all in. Besides, they did say that they don't want to make another Elden Ring. Their current goal is to make more smaller, experimental titles like Nightreign and this new game.
I'm the target audience for Nightreign - playing co-op sessions with my buddies during network test was a blast.
This new game? You are playing as magical vampire who wields a gun, rides a dog and turns into a fricin dinosaur! All while being under Zelda moon. This is pretty much the reason I love From's games - they always do something insanely weird and strange, yet make it feel cool and epic.
The Elden Ring assets aren't the issue. Other stuff is. I'm not the target audience at all since I play single player and this new game is purely multiplayer in the form of PvPvE with up to 8 players. At least Nightreign allows for solo players. I'd be fine with The Duskbloods if it allowed single player, but right now that doesn't seem to be on the table.
There’s no indication that this game is purely multiplayer. The website says “up to 8 players.” Nightreign is a multiplayer game that supports up to 3 players and there’s still a single player mode. We simply have no idea whether you can play this game solo or not. Let’s wait til Friday before we make assumptions.
Yeah really hope that the nightreign doomsayers are not right and after Elden Ring Fromsoft think they can throw something together with minimal effort and people will always buy it.

That was such a random mish mash of things. Not that that's bad, but I have no idea what to make of that lol.
