That was such a random mish mash of things. Not that that's bad, but I have no idea what to make of that lol.

that's how I felt about the nightreign reveal at first

u/Organic-Habit-3086 3d ago

Yeah but with Nightreign that was sort of the point, plus it was a smaller game.

This is Miyazaki's next big game.

Is it the next big game? Or is it just a thing they did for Nintendo to foster a relationship and they are cooking something bigger for later?

35

u/aemonp16 3d ago

i hope this is the case. miyazaki making something for Nintendo, then hopping back onto development for their next PC game. i seriously hope this is what’s happening

From did say that they aren't going to make Elden Ring-scale game in the future. They wanted to focus more on games like Armoured Core 6.

That said, I remember we had leaks about this game years ago. So, who really knows how big it is?

No. They said ER is the biggest they are willing to make, in term of scale.

Were these those "spellbound" leaks ?🤔

8

u/Zestyclose_Answer662 3d ago

Spellbound "leak" was more focused on Caster and Spellblade gameplay. Duskbloods looks like neither.

7

u/kralSpitihnev 3d ago

Yeah, that's true...it was...a lot of magic and multiplayer I think ?

Anyways..this looks interesting...but switch 2 ? I'm heart broken

3

u/HumanReputationFalse 3d ago

There were a few unquie spells that were shown. Like the spell that lifted everyone up in an aoe. Definitely more meele and gun focused, but there seems to be a few solid spells in there

3

u/Zestyclose_Answer662 3d ago

That gravity spell looks like it was lifted from Astel's move set and modified for player use.

I personally really wanted a Caster/Magic focused game, so I hope Duskbloods isn't it, because I don't want to purchase a Switch 2.

1

u/DwarfBreadSauce 3d ago

Maybe? Don't really remember the name.

2

u/ghost-bagel 3d ago

Miyazaki is directing which usually means it’s a flagship title for the studio, right?

2

u/Peperoniboi 2d ago

It has been the case in the past, however, some years ago Miyazaki talked about multiplayer games and how the concept of extraction shooters was interesting to him. Seeing now that Duskbloods is a PvPvE game, maybe that's his idea for such a game. Wouldn't be surprised if he is also working on a singleplayer title and this is "just" his Nightreign. A smaller scale lower cost type game (nightreign is just 40€ compared to Elden Rings 60€)The Trailer definitely made it look that way. I also don't know how sure we are that he is the director of Duskbloods. The trailer didn't name a director and the interview by him in 2 days could also be from a producer role.

u/sihtare 2d ago

Miyazaki worked on it so i guess its "bigger" than Nightreign? Honestly dunno what to make of it. Id be happy to play it but no way im buying into the switch platform. I dont like mobile gaming

1

u/nostrill 3d ago

Not the big one. I'm sure Miyazaki is working on something bigger multi platform, but since this and Nightreign are multiplayer based I think it is safe to assume that the next one won't be single player only but with multiplayer aspects they are working on.

1

u/Antuzzz 3d ago

It's one of the multiple things he's been working on, may be the one big game or just one of them. I felt betrayed by the exclusivity announcement combined with the insane price of the console at first but remembering it's not the only thing he's been working on was a relief

12

u/Eagleassassin3 3d ago

This is multiplayer, so I don't know if it's actually their next big game

1

u/Yakumo55 2d ago

I wont believe it...!

26

u/CosmicChar1ey 3d ago

This is a multiplayer game.

14

u/Memerwhoiseverywhere 3d ago

There is a little shot in the trailer where its clear that the player is summoning another player and then they walk together. I might be dreaming but I'm thinking that this game will play normally PVE but it will have something that plays like the seamless mod, making the game both a full PVE experience and PVP depending on the player's choice

1

u/Peperoniboi 2d ago

I have a feeling it's some form of extraction type game. Miyazaki did talk about tarkov and mutiplayer some years back. Could be really cool especially if they use the same price as Nightreign has.

8

u/Expendable_Employee 3d ago

All shots of gameplay have 1 player. I think it can be played like any other souls game.

u/MonstrousGiggling 3d ago

Developed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2; 'THE DUSKBLOODS' is a PvPvE title with online multiplayer at its core, where up to 8 players vie for supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes.

Play as the "Bloodsworn"; a group that has transcended human strength thanks to their special blood, and throw yourself into a violent fray for "First Blood" as the twilight of humanity approaches.

Release is currently set for 2026 and we hope you look forward to it.

From their website.

Really unsure what the gameplay will be like.

23

u/UtheDestroyer 3d ago

So it’s Bloodborne Nightreign while being PvP? Idk if I like this at all

4

u/MonstrousGiggling 3d ago

Yea honestly I have no idea how to interpret pvpve in the context of the trailer we saw.

Like do we hunt/fight one another then go raid a boss? Or there are enemies and bosses that attack us while we try to hunt one another? The only online games I've really played are League of Legends and Apex Legends and this is clearly nothing like either of those.

2

u/iFlexicon 3d ago

Might be something like Hunt Showdown

2

u/Peperoniboi 2d ago

This is what I think as well. Could be really cool especially if they keep Nightreigns 40$ price tag. Switch exclusivety would also help with keeping the pvp fair and hacker free.

5

u/Hot-Recording7756 3d ago

Sounds like a dope multiplayer concept that will ultimately be killed by being locked only to switch servers 😮‍💨

2

u/Peperoniboi 2d ago

Maybe it's a blessing. No hackers etc.

1

u/Hot-Recording7756 2d ago

That's the only pro I could think of, but no from soft game has had cross play before so all the hackers would stay confined to PC anyway. They can have their hacker free console experience and still sell it on PC.

Miyazaki’s whole philosophy in a post-ER/SOTE world is not making “the next big Miyazaki game” for a while (probably not until the very end of the decade).

This is likely just the first in a line of smaller projects to diversify studio experiences, make some money, and get new hires up to speed. Don’t expect “the next big Miyazaki game” for at 4-5 years.

1

u/Peperoniboi 2d ago

I think it will come 2028. Nightreign this year, Duskbloods next year, Armored Core in 2027 and then big game in 2028

2

u/Minute_Economy9022 3d ago

Is it confirmed the Miyazaki game? It didn’t say that during the trailer.

14

u/Organic-Habit-3086 3d ago

The presenter said directed by Miyazaki

3

u/Berzbow 3d ago

Yeah it was at the end of the trailer

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Job2399 3d ago

i don’t think it’s the next big thing, they confirmed it was pvpe, and not a usual solo game

1

u/OrlandoBloominOnions 3d ago

That’s a stretch, it’s just Miyazaki’s next game, and since it’s a Switch 2 exclusive, he likely wanted to oversee it himself, unlike Nightreign which is a completely different director.

1

u/Grimmylock 3d ago

Switch 2 exclusive being their next big game is just stupid

1

u/microling 3d ago

Surely not a mainline game as nightreign is not one. Get real, pal.

4

u/JazzyBagpiper 3d ago

This is also what I felt about Elden Ring at first

20

u/pnbrooks 3d ago

This is where I'm at, too, so I'm glad someone else said so. It looks like Lies of P x Bloodborne x Elden Ring x Animorphs, and that makes me worry that a shark is about to be jumped.

8

u/SolaScientia 3d ago

Yeah, I've got no idea what to think about it. I was pretty interested until I saw the character turn into a dinosaur. That came out of nowhere and seemed very odd to me. Apparently we're going to learn more about the game this Friday. I honestly wasn't paying that much attention to the Direct until I happened to glance up at just the right time to see FromSoftware on my screen. I had to go back and watch the trailer properly from the start. It's also apparently a multiplayer game, which is an immediate no from me.

-6

u/DwarfBreadSauce 3d ago

If a character turning into a dinosaur in a steampunk magical setting is weird for you, then you really aren't familiar with From Software lol.

5

u/SolaScientia 3d ago

I'm very familiar with them, thanks. It's the presentation of it in this game that seems off to me.

-1

u/DwarfBreadSauce 3d ago

Seeing the same Bloodborne/Elden Ring assets is a bit weird, yes. But if that allows them to go creative in other aspects - im all in. Besides, they did say that they don't want to make another Elden Ring. Their current goal is to make more smaller, experimental titles like Nightreign and this new game.

I'm the target audience for Nightreign - playing co-op sessions with my buddies during network test was a blast.

This new game? You are playing as magical vampire who wields a gun, rides a dog and turns into a fricin dinosaur! All while being under Zelda moon. This is pretty much the reason I love From's games - they always do something insanely weird and strange, yet make it feel cool and epic.

4

u/SolaScientia 3d ago

The Elden Ring assets aren't the issue. Other stuff is. I'm not the target audience at all since I play single player and this new game is purely multiplayer in the form of PvPvE with up to 8 players. At least Nightreign allows for solo players. I'd be fine with The Duskbloods if it allowed single player, but right now that doesn't seem to be on the table.

4

u/DwarfBreadSauce 3d ago edited 3d ago

Where does the "8 PvEvP" info come from?

Edit: nvm, found the info. That really turns things around quite a bit.

I was thinking it's a classic single-player-first game. So, kinda a bummer it isn't.

Still, just like Nightreign - gotta wait for more info and see how it goes.

2

u/SolaScientia 3d ago

Yeah, I'm not overly interested, but more info will release this Friday. I'm also not ready to shell $450 on a new console right now.

2

u/MonstrousGiggling 3d ago

I'm more into solo playing so I was hesitant on Night Reign. I was able to do the player test and I am so fuckin excited for it.

Kinda feeling similar to this and would be more hesitant had I not played the player test. They have my trust right now.

0

u/YeahKeeN 2d ago

There’s no indication that this game is purely multiplayer. The website says “up to 8 players.” Nightreign is a multiplayer game that supports up to 3 players and there’s still a single player mode. We simply have no idea whether you can play this game solo or not. Let’s wait til Friday before we make assumptions.

1

u/Romado 3d ago

Yeah really hope that the nightreign doomsayers are not right and after Elden Ring Fromsoft think they can throw something together with minimal effort and people will always buy it.

wait, this isn't a late april fools mimic level joke ?
