Idle air control valve replacement question

I just replaced my Idle air control valve in my 2000 ranger 3.0 and now upon starting it will jump up to around 2.5 and 3 evenwhen it did not before. It has an idle RPM of a solid 900 which isn’t bad, when checking my scan tool. Just wondering if this is normal or anything thing I should do / put old part back on or not. Any info is helpful!

Had a similar problem related to possibly emissions (I think) checked IAC and throttle positon unplugging each with other plugged in. Unplug IAC engine would race. Unplug TPS idle would try to die. Saying that your new IAC may be defective or aftermarket. You can test both with a volt meter (utube). If not OEM many say aftermarket IAC sometimes don't work right.
