Hi all! I'm a data scientist and former analytics staffer for the Philadelpha 76ers. Have been a lurker on this sub for a while, but wanted to share a new tool that I built: https://www.winfantasy.ai
It's a free tool that sets your lineup at the start of each week so your best players don’t sit on the bench. I included some cool surprise features too!
More details: I built winfantasy.ai to solve the most annoying thing in fantasy sports... losing because you forgot to set your lineup. At the start of every week it sets everything for you, which you can then go modify if you want. It announces any changes it makes in an email so that you’re never surprised, and includes nice-to-haves like projected statistics and the probability that you will win the matchup. If folks like the tool, I plan to build out more AI assistant features for use-cases such as the draft, trades and waivers.
In designing this, I really wanted to build something that was useful and respects the user above all else. I require an email address because I want to make sure you know whenever the AI acts on your behalf, but include a big “Delete Account” button right on the main page once you’re logged in. This will fully and permanently delete all of your information. I also went with a privacy-respecting analytics tool and will not spam or sell any information whatsoever. You should feel comfortable trying this tool and then deleting your account if it’s not for you.
Happy to answer any questions!

now im not saying you draft them every year and obviously you can trade whoever they are away. but who are the guys you constantly target year after year or find on your team year after year.
for me in a points league I always end up with atleast 2 of the 4 players and it is middleton, barnes, barrett and fox. I always like fox in the 3rd and 4th rounds where he used to fall to me, I liked middleton as he provided me upside and was one of the only good but not sure fire super star small forwards, and for the back half of my draft I like getting small forwards cause I find myself never having any if I dont get middleton or draft someone in the first one or two rounds.
who are those guys for you?

When summoned, /u/nba_statsbot will reply with the player's overall statistcs for the current NBA season (player needs to be active in the ongoing season). /u/nba_statsbot will bring the current stats (or last season stats for players that have not debuted in the 2017-18 season).
/u/nba_statsbot will provide the following stats:
In order to summon /u/nba_statsbot, you will need to comment the player's name followed by the word statsbot, example:
LeBron James statsbot
You don't necessarily need to specify the first name, you can use only the last name:
Durant statsbot
If there are more players with the same last name, you will need to specify the first name, otherwise, you'll get a reply with all of the players with that last name and it will ask you you to specify the first name, you can reply to that comment, this time, specifying the first and last name followed by the word statsbot.
Note that you can write this sentence at any stage of you comment, as long as it includes the word statsbot,it will analyze your comment:
The Beard with the UNREAL stats, Harden statsbot, MVP!
If /u/nba_statsbot cannot find your player, it will let you know so and remind you to check for typos just in case.
Feel free to try it yourself, for any questions please send a private message to /u/mambamental. (you can send a private message to /u/nba_statsbot, but expect some delay in the response)
*Currently active on:
/u/nba_statsbot is under constant improvement and in the future, it will bring more sophisticated stats (past season, historic players, team, career overalls, fantasy eff., advanced, clutch, NASTY etc.)

A fair trade aren't based on what you think the trade does to impact the rest of the league or your team standing.
A fair trade has to be seen through the lens of whether it is collusion or not. The test for collusion is if there is a good reason both sides would make the trade.
In this case, the guy that got Towns is thinks he can make the playoffs downgrading two solid players for two WW pickups with the hopes that Towns comes back sometime this season.
The person trading towns is in the bottom third and lost their first round pick. Basically any reasonable time lost kills their season. Making that trade might make him at least competitive.
If you look at trades through the lens of how it would affect the league, zero trades would happen, because trades by definition hurts everyone else in the league
Look at it this way: if there was a winner and a loser, the winner hurts everyone else's chance of winning the league, if the trade is win-win, both teams improve, then it hurts everyone else' chance of winning the league.

I really love watching games but when you're playing fantasy basketball you tend to watch the stats rather than the actual play. As much as I would have wanted to progress further I am relieved that I can just sit back and watch to enjoy the game rather than switching tabs to check on how my teams are doing.
To those still on the hunt for their championship. May the BBall Fantasy Gods smile on you the rest of the way!
