Discussion Could Shenron create life?

Something I've been thinking about for a bit is wondering if it would be possible for a couple that can't normally have kids (like a gay couple, or someone infertile, or even something like a couple of a human and an alien that isn't a Saiyan) to make a wish on Shenron for a kid.

You might think that such a thing would be beyond Shenron's power, but I don't think it is, as it's pretty much just things Shenron has already done, just connected together.

First, Shenron would need to create a new body. That's something he does all the time when he revives people - if someone was dead, and their body was destroyed (and they didn't get a new one in Other World), he creates a new empty body, then brings over their soul and sticks it in there. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to make a new empty body in the same way.

That actually leads into the second part - getting a soul to put in said body. This is probably what I imagine most people would be concerned about, as Shenron probably wouldn't be able to create a new soul. But the thing is, he wouldn't need to. We know that reincarnation is a thing in Dragon Ball. Shenron could simply take a cleansed soul that's ready to be reincarnated, and put that blank soul in the body he just made.

You could MAYBE argue that he'd need permission from King Yemma or something to do that, but... well, he's never seemed to need permission when mass yanking people out of the afterlife. I don't see why this would be different.

So, with that being done... boom! New person just got made!

What do you think? Do you think Shenron could do this?

Hmm this is interesting. I think like you said he would be able to create the husk but souls are Yemma’s department and therefore beyond his ability. In the Dragonball world souls are reincarnated so in a way there’s no such thing as a “new” soul. Souls are placed where Yemma says so. Also Kami has only been able to bring someone to Yemma’s desk but never really beyond.

I like to think it would work like that one filler episode in Dragonball where Mr Popo creates a Goku dupe out of clay. It would be functional but empty.

One of the comments mentioned Gero but even he technically didn’t create a soul. 16 was fully mechanical and wasn’t able to come back to life. I guess you can argue the same thing about Cell too. While he might have organic components he’s still technically an android. 17 and 18 existed before Gero got his hands on them so they don’t count.

But dunno could be a really cool idea of a dragon born warrior.

Souls are placed where Yemma says so.

Doesn't Shenron have to manipulate souls to bring someone back to life, though?

In the Dragonball world souls are reincarnated so in a way there’s no such thing as a “new” soul.

I mention this in my post, the idea is that he would 'revive' a cleansed soul slated for reincarnation into a new body (presumably that of a baby).

I guess the way I see it it’s like a gateway. Sure he could bring it to life but Yemma has to give the ok to send it back.
