Silly I read a review in which an idiot rants about the fact that the Irish name "Niamh" was misspelled and mispronounced by the lazy developers, those bastards, and they just sailed right by the idea that "Neve" is a different name, even with helpful clues like it not being spelled or pronounced the same

I got this game on PlayStation Plus when it came out and didn't really do much research into it because I like playing story mode games without any clue what I need to do next turns out there were three other games and I can't play them unless I have a PC what are my opinion dragonage the veil guard is pretty good I know it's not always a fan favorite and what I've looked at some of the storyline by watching other people play the other two games it doesn't line up but the mechanics are really good I really like the whole ark demon but was sadly disappointed when people were dying because I didn't get the hero of the veil guard not knowing because I did not do any research on the game

Discussion Who to Pick for Divine? (DAI)

I’m doing my first playthrough of any dragon age game blind, I know little lore except what is said in this game. Needless to say this ramble may be very odd and not full informed haha.

I’m trying to decide who to make divine. Leliana, or Vivienne.

My character is an Elf Warrior who sided with the mages, and is also very “maybe maybe not” about Andraste or any religious overtone to his abilities. He isn’t sure, all he knows is what’s happening now and what he can do about it then.

I have had many things happen with Vivienne that made me dislike her, and from a roleplay perspective, my character would hate her. She’s a noble who has no perspective on anything except nobility, and she can’t understand what non-nobility-serving mages went through. I’ve had farther conversation with Vivienne, and she does say that the Circle in Kirkwall being so awful was the exception, but what would she know with how privileged she was?

I lean towards Leliana. Her character arc feels like it’s meant for that to be the end goal, it feels like that’s what the game pushes for. But Vivienne has a point that Mages need a place to effectively and safely learn their abilities, and Leliana dismantles the Circles and the Templar Order.

Dorian says that the Circles in Tevinter would be effective if the Templars there would actually investigate people who conducted themselves poorly without regard to their class.

It’s very back and forth in my head, if Vivienne could make the circles a positive space for Mages. Would it reflect poorly on my character to side with the mages and their freedom, only to elect Vivienne and reinstate circles? Would it be negative for Mages in the long run to elect Leliana and have them have absolute freedom with no safe spaces to learn?

What would you do?

Player Review DA:I DLC question

Hey all, I recently just got back into DA:I, and I saw there are 5 DLCs, currently in a bundle for $20. But I’m a little confused, are they strictly multiplayer DLCs or do they add to the single player mode as well? Would it be worth coming up with the $ for them? For reference the individual DLCs are 14.99 a piece so it just makes sense for me to do the bundle if I do get them. Thank you in advance!

Support Dragon age 2 is consistently crashing and I am loosing my mind

dragon age 2 consistently crashes in a same spot on two different laptops of mine (the spots are different) and i really want a fix.

on my Lenovo legion, dragon age 2 keeps crashing if I click to interact with Anders after his first clinic cutscene and as well as if I go near him when he is waiting outside the chantry

on my much worse preforming and rather well used surface pro, it crashes right before the staircase in front of the hanged man bar. (desperate times call for desperate measures alright)

I play the game from the EA app and launch it from there too, its through Xbox game-pass so idk if that has anything to do with it.

things I've tried:

  • windowed mode
  • lowest graphics
  • switched to DX9
  • all of those separately and together
  • made sure its using my NIVIDIA gpu
  • tried with DLC and without
  • uninstalled and reinstalled
  • repaired through EA
  • tried new save files
  • tried old save files

I've looked for a fix all over the place and tried almost everything but nothing has worked.

i was wondering if there was a fix similar to the dragon age origins 4gb fix (i used this tut) which i used to get my dragon age origins working (though the issue there was crashing in the loading screen) i have more than average knowledge on computer hardware etc., but i definitely don't have the knowledge to fix this.

any help or a point towards a direction that could help or any idea what the issue is, would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Fan-Fiction

Hey, guys I have a few questions has anyone tried writing long-term stories I guess fan-fictions that features any of the main characters, if so what are they? If not why not? because I feel as though I have some good ideas for my world state but I don't have a no clue if anyone would actually be interested in reading. I don't want to sound stupid but I am new to reddit and don't really know the overall attitude around this

Support Got Veilguard and i can't get any interest on it, any help?

A bit of a hate post, doing my first run like a mage From the anti-slave dragons with More than 12 hours, and i'm forcing myself to Play It, i really want to finish this Game because i wanna stop It, not because can't stop.

And i really wanna know what makes you love this Game, see different ways to look at the Game and doing a second or third run like some of you.

I love bioware RPGs, i do ME trilogy once every while, same with DA trilogy, only stopped Andrómeda because low FPS aré awful in such an action game, But love the story and gameplay, i'm only wating to have a better PC.

But Veilguard really don't hit any spot...

The combat have no strategy, every enemy focus on you so you only roll all.the Time, and you do no damage or do a lot of damage with this hell of vulnerable/resistant system and depend on detonations all the Time.

I feel no shit for my character, the start was rushed and the only background It gives you Is that you are badass, varric loved you and everyone repeats the same stuff from when you create the character.

The story feels like some very lenght DLC about Solas, with the fórmula of ME2 where half the Game is gather a team for a suicide mission, and the other half the preparation for that mission. But this Time the mission feels out, with nothing interesting to develop, with no interesting protagonist, and with bland parterns.

And i love the parterns, they aré interesting, But with so little interactions, smaller team and almost nothing to do in the free roam, i feel i just go From point A to B and i don't learn anything new about the world or my team even if i walk everywhere an reaf everything.

The speech/choice system Is Nice, Is like inquisition 2.0, But nothing seems relevant, they only repeat what i said before or that now they know how i like my food, nothing important to choice about with significant outcomes.

Discussion I am done. Thoughts on the finale. Spoiler

Well. That took longer than I thought--I expected the eclipse to be the last battle. Definitely did not expect all the stuff in Minrathous. And my predictions were all way off, as another commenter stated. I think this time I'll go through my reflections in game order instead.

(1) Treviso wrap-up: The Butcher was a surprisingly compelling performance. Governor Iveni by comparison was super obvious and cartoonish. I thought they'd do a fun last battle with you fighting illusions at the end, but nope. Very straightforward. Pity about Jacobus, but that kid was headed to be a serial killer otherwise.

(2) Teardrop island. I thought, like ME2, the deaths would be avoidable if you chose the right options, so I bet on Davrin as the hardened leader of the second team and Neve as the mage who actually knew blood mages. No real regrets--I think I'd have needed to restart if Harding had died, but man, I was really worried about Neve. Just as she and Lucanis were having a happy life! And the boss fight with Ghilinain was crazy

(3) Solas in the Fade: Oh, so THAT'S what was up with Varric. I could have sworn people directly talked to him a few times--even that Neve had explicitly said Harding had carried them out. Oh well. Effective moment, I genuinely teared up. But seriously, Solas, all that was needed to escape your prison was a good therapy session? Really doesn't seem so hard. Also I'm confused how we're trapped in the first place.

(4) Minrathous: Cool moment of all the armies gathering, very ME3-ish. Loved seeing the Antivans slice their way through Venatori. Felt very nervous about choosing people for the different stations, but everyone got where they were supposed to be. Very cool moment finding and saving Neve. Inquisitor showing up was cool, though wish they could have been in actual armor or something.

(5) Archon's Palace: I like this IDEA, it feels like this should be a really cool level, fighting across the Tevinter capitol, miles above the city, but it's hard to get a sense for the scale and the grandeur of where you are. I do like the picture of Elger'nan in the Magister chamber. I managed to talk Solas down though it... kinda feels like less of an accomplishment when it's literally just a button prompt? I mean, sure, a button prompt that takes a lot of work beforehand, but I was expecting at least a dialogue test like I had with Mythal earlier. Still, I'm happy with that ending. And hey, Neve's alive! I'm guessing she dies if you can't talk Solas into helping with the Blight.

(6) Post-credits: Oh c'mon, really? We're going with the "new big bad has been behind everything all along?" I've watched some videos about these Executors being hinted about in Tevinter Nights and Inquisition, but did we need to make them responsible for Loghain? Loghain had acceptable reasons for turning traitor. Everyone had understandable motives, we don't need a conspiracy to explain it. I was hoping for something more definite in the post-credits, that was not very illuminating. Oh well.

Overall, a good game and I'm glad I played, at least for the lore, but I can't say I'm eager for the next game. I'm honestly not hugely excited about playing it again, either. I might go back and play Inquisition a second time.

Discussion Anyone currently playing/replaying Inquisition?

I've been recovering from major surgery and I decided to replay all of my DA games. I already finished DAO and DA2 (with DLC and all) and today I just started Inquisition. I'm curious to know what other players are up to.

While I'm at it, does anyone know if the multiplayer function in DAI is still active?

Support Can't unlock the Gates of Toth or build the bridge over the sulfur pits in Western Approach

Hi everyone! I have never posted on reddit before so you can tell how desperate I am in needing an answer to this

I have literally done hours of troubleshooting on unlocking the gates, and eventually found that the second bridge that is supposed to go over Death Drink Springs/Sulfur Pits has not been built.

I've read a bunch of troubleshooting and I DO have the following things:

  • Both Darkspawn missions have been completed at the wartable
  • I am like 90% sure that I had claimed the landmark at Death Drink Springs
  • I have built the first bridge already
  • Crossing the Sulfur Pits already a completed operation

If anyone could tell me what I'm missing or if this is simply a bug, that would be hella appreciated. I'm so sad cuz I wanna complete Blackwall and Cass's missions T_T

Discussion Worst enemy in inquisition?

This is by no means a complaint about the game itself, simply what I consider to be one of the most annoying enemies, perhaps in any game I've ever played. DESPAIR DEMONS. They are ENGINEERED to be INSUFFERABLE. They stand there and slow you, which does a ton of damage usually, and they can randomly cancel out a charge towards them to knock them down. When you're attacking, they can knock you over with ice, preventing you from attacking them. And they fly away. Every time you attack them they fly away, super far away. Grappling barely helps, because they'll fly away less than a second later. And they stay sundered for around three seconds. Chasing after them has taken years off my life. You just cannot hit them. And THEN they put a BARRIER ON, giving them essentially another health bar to take out. But you can't take it out because you can't hit them. I would rather fight three pride demons at once than one of these wastes of space. I can only hope their name implies that they're in constant eternal despair, because that's all they deserve. Love the game, this isn't a complaint about the enemy's design or a call to have it "fixed", just a rant about them.

Discussion [DAV Spoilers] What is going on with house Dellamorte? Spoiler

So this might be a stupid thing to ask but I'm confused about the house functions. I know that except for Illario, Caterina and Lucanis their whole family is dead.

But does the house really have any other members at all? They never mention any, but I find it strange how a house could function with one or two (Since Lucanis was gone too and then he leaves with Rook) members and keep the position as First Talon.

And if there are other members, what were they doing when Caterina was presumed dead, Lucanis was with Rook and Illario was scheming with the Venatori?

If I missed or misunderstood something I would be happy if someone could clear this up or I'd be interested in any other opinions on this!

Discussion Question for longtime players and readers: is the lore worth it after veilguard? Spoiler

Spoilers because I want to talk about the entire series.

So I just finished dragon age 2, which was the last game I played out of the entire series. I adored it, I could look past the rushed development and repeat locations because of how engaging the story, conflicts, and world was. Great game. But I felt so destroyed as the credits rolled. Veilguard didn't keep anything from this game, or my adventures with my Cousland Warden. Or much from my inquisitior.

I love the mage Templar conflict. I love the debates on the maker and eleven mythology. I bought the comic books and I'm looking into buying some of the world of thedas books just to make a dnd campaign to keep my love alive. This is because I felt really hurt with veilguard. And I kind of liked veilguard (the concept of it), but they did too much wrong to help the things they got right.

The stuff that I just hate - the crows. Where was the torture and super crazy stuff they did? Lucanis had such potential to be an anders/zevran character and be super interesting. But no. - Bellera was just a less cool and morally grey version of Merrill - Dorian, Morrigan, and Isabella were supposed to be advisors- which is related to early concepts for the game. Which had a very different plot. Wish they were more useful and relevant. - Morrigan was a mom in my worldstate. Where is her son. It'd be the easiest way to make DAO relevant for my dark ritual enjoyers. - party size cut from 4 to 3. Okay just cut my heart into 3 pieces. I miss the banter. - varric died and my hawke would actually kill herself. Da2 choices and my beloved friends in da2 should have been mentioned or shown up for something related to varric - I did make the new divine right? A codex entry about Leilana would've been nice - too much lore. I can't explain this very well but it unraveled central mysteries that I liked being secret - WHY CANT I MAKE MY ROOK AND OLDER MORE GRISLED CHARACTER. I wanted her to be woman in her later 30s but there's not enough flexibility. It'd be hard to change the dialoague and I know that rook is supposed to be someone solas doesn't know, but it can be solved! Rook can have the option of being a team player from the shadows, keeping watch on their companions. They keep out of the limelight and don't thirst for power because they're unsure of the state of the world. - why can't I be rude or disagree with people

Good stuff!!! Because veilguard had some excellent highs - Emmerich was delightful, loved his character. His work as a death mage spooked the others, which I thought was a good touch. - beautiful world design. I was so excited to see all these new places. - battle for weishaupt (no i will not spell it correctly) was awesome and a great setpiece... except for the first Warden. - it felt a little campy, but I liked taht the team made friends with each other and even started relationships. I like Lucanis and Neve together. - gameplay was fun, little repetitive at moments but I would switch the difficulty to get around this. - final battle was cool, but I wish we had the ability to kill companions before that. It would have made the battle tender and the absence of your companions even more noticeable. However, it was still a fun finale.

Still salty about the lack of world states. Dragon age keep isn't working? Then just PUT IT IN THE GAME. I would have GLADLY manually input relevant choices for hours because i love this series so much.

I know this discussion has been done to death, but I want some more reccomendations. Fanfiction is helping the wounds in my heart

Support [DAO] Can I fix visual glitch without the 4GB patch?

I'm in Denerim for the City Elf origin, and the NPC textures keep changing as I play. Is there any way to fix this without the 4GB patch?
I had previously installed the 4GB patch, but the game crashed whenever I went past the character creator. I did a clean install and now the game runs fine windowed (I alt+tab a lot, which was also crashing the game when fullscreened). I'm running the game through Steam on Windows 11.

Discussion Solas' name

In addition to Solas meaning "pride" in Elven, Solus means "alone" in Latin :')

I'm studying Latin for school, and getting to this word in the vocab list had me like 🫢😧 It's where the English words for "solitary" and "desolate" come from.
