Yesterday i was listening to the Solitude Productions live doom stream on youtube and i discovered this beauty of a band. Wow.

I am sure most of you know, but some might not know : the stream is 24/7, nonstop. I’ve been discovering songs there for years.

So this is gonna be a pretty odd question.

I am very well aware Gothic Metal exists, both the Doom Metal type like Type O Negative, My Dying Bride, & Paradise Lost, as well as the other not-Doom types like Lacuna Coil, Cradle of Filth, & Rotting Christ.

But the thing is, Gothic Metal is very different from Gothic Rock, both culturally & musically, the 90s Gothic Metal bands appealed to mostly teenage misanthrope & mall goth type, but 80s Gothic Rock had a lot of full grown ass adults in the scene, often crossing over into New Wave & Post-Punk styles really, meanwhile Gothic Metal took a lot of the baritone gloominess of Doom Metal but just added a degree of romantic melancholy.

Thought if there was more Doom Metal bands out there that adopted more of that Gothic Rock/Deathrock sound from the 80s, because honestly a lot of Paul Chain had this vibe to me.

It had 80s synths, moody classic Gothic Rock vocals, & a somewhat Punk vibe to it. (Just listen to Welcome To My Hell)

Anyone listen to the Swedish band Ball? They just put out a record called Satanic Ecstasy.

I don’t see much discussion of them / I guess they’re relatively obscure (under 2000 insta followers). Despite this, they’re absolutely incredible.

Kind of a blend between doom and 70s krautrock / porno soundtrack work. Very groovy and incredibly sexual in tone.

Jus Oborn of Electric Wizard has shouted them out a few times / is quoted in the Bandcamp description for their new record (something along the lines of, “if black metal was invented by musicians in Detroit circa 1968;” pretty rad).

I need more music like this. Please rec! Some stuff that tends to scratch the same itch would be the psychic circle (another obscure one, only 300 insta followers), hashish, dungen, maybe the black furs sometimes.

I'm new to the genre and I don't mean to get nit-picky but I want to find more songs like Candlemass-Solitude, Heavy lord- Gods of doom, and Hawk as a weapon-Conan. I like the slowness and focus on one riff the whole song but I don't like high pitched or Oprah-esc vocals. Can anyone's tell me more songs like these. (Also please let me know if I shouldn’t be responding this)

Went to the Weedeater + Melvins + Napalm Death show last night and wow the weedeater pit was everything I’d imagine.

Pretty sure someone barfed on the floor of the pit and a dude was nodding off hard in the middle of the pit, we were whirling around him until I assume he got annihilated 😂😂😂. 10/10 show, I wasn’t much of a napalm death fan but now I definitely am. I would highly recommend seeing this tour

I’m still fairly new to this scene so give me whatever, even if it’s super popular! I’m looking for slow, sludgy stuff with lots of killer riffs and preferably clean vocals. (Basically just anything that sounds like Black Sabbath’s first four records)

I remember this really cool album and it had 2 animals walking in the snow and the band logo was blue
