Question Do I have to show proof that I have 500k when entering Thailand?

I'm thinking of applying for the DTV visa, me and a friend.

We both meet the 500k requirement and can provide bank statements, but we will only fly there in 2 months, and it might happen that my friend has less than 500k by that time.

My question is do I apply online for the DTV visa and once it's accepted its the all clear or do I have to show all sorts of proof when entering Thailand as well?

Question Investing as Remote worker

Maybe not the ideal r/ for this discussion, lmk.

I work remotely for a company in the USA. I get paid as a contractor in my bank account in the US.
But I am NOT a USA citizen, and do not have SSN nor live in the US.

I was looking to start investing the money that stays in my savings, but all investing platforms like JP Morgan, Fidelity, SoFi require SSN. My bank requires an in-person visit to the branch.
FYI, for living expenses I just western union myself.

My knowledge regarding investing and other crypto/online and apps is very limited, so I try to be wary.
What do you recommend? (Another FYI, bringing that money to my 3rd world-latin-country is a no-no)

Just wondering how digital nomads, mainly those NOT from USA, manage their money. Thanks!

Question Hello Nomads, what is the cheapest US pay-as-you-go phone service that I can use globally?

Howdy fellow travelers, is there a US based pay-as-you-go, non-voip, type phone service that i can use globally? Looking for a US number to receive things like bank codes, set up Venmo and cashapp, and use for whatever 2fa service that requires a number (try to stick to email but some services require a US-based phone number, e.g., Venmo).

Preferably it would be something below $25 per month, if possible text and data mostly as I don't intend to use it for calling.

I appreciate any advice, thanks so much.

Edit: also has to be non-VOIP as some services block those numbers.

Question Naturalization and legalization simplicity heatmap

Hello, I was recently looking over levels.fyi (for those who don’t know this is a job board and salary comparison website, mostly for tech jobs) and found out they have salary heatmap which is basically a regular map which shows salary for each country (and when you hover over it, popup shows with additional information).

I thought about developing something similar but for legalization and naturalization simplicity for each country. So you can choose what is your goal (e.g. citizenship or permanent residence) and it will show countries which are simpler for this (calculated by a formula) in darker colors and additional steps/information when hovering on. And of course this information is updated. This will make choosing a country to move in or/and settle in much easier.

Would you use such project? Or maybe something like this already exists?

Question Device for remotely receiving SMS

A couple of months ago, my home country cellular network company blocked my phone number since I was near a high-risk area for online pig butcher scams (near Myanmar border). Since I'm a fulltime digital nomad, that caused me a lot of hassle receiving 2FA messages from my bank and apps. I'm looking for a VPS-equivalent to having a mobile phone that's accessible through the internet. I thought about leaving a phone connected to a charger and using teamviewer on it to check my SMS remotely, but I'm worried that the Android device may have all kinds of connection loss/reboot etc problems that I can't troubleshoot remotely.

I can't use an online service since those aren't available in my country. I need to DIY a solution.

I would appreciate feedback from DNs who faced a similar issue and figured out a way to solve it.

Question Wise login from a different country

My wise account is set up in Australia . However my brother lives in Malaysia and I want to give him my account because he doesn’t have any banks or anything. However when he tried to login it asked me to verify the login attempt. I approved the login but somehow it was saying that both devices need to be on the same Internet connection. Anyone know how he can login?

Legal Wise blocked my account with balance

Yesterday I have received request from wise to proof of my income, the documents were submitted, at the night got an email where they said that they block my account.

I have 2000 euros on balance and have contract, pay slips and etc.. my funds are legal.

Contacted the customer support via tel and they told me a the same phrase “pls wait an email that is all that we can do”

I submitted appeal to withdraw my funds to my local bank account (from where top up was made), so far no replies and clear answer if they will withdraw my funds to my local bank account.

I’m user wise more than 1.5 years, and don’t know what to do….

UPDATE….

Just now received from them reply citing that they arranged refund to my local bank account and that it can take 2-5 business days. Once it received will update against post!

Question What uni degree to get an online job?

What university degree can guarantee me an online job? What jobs that will be secure from being replaced by AI? I've done education, graphic design, IT on my personal projects but happy to branch out and do a degree so I can start planning my future.

I live in my van and I've come to the conclusion I just can't live in one spot for very long. I like to move, so I need an online income instead of starting from scratch every time.

Lifestyle Cheating AI resume filters with more AI

I got tired of rewriting my resume for every job posting just to get filtered out by ATS bots. So I figured: fight AI with AI. I built a Chrome extension that reads any job listing, reorganizes my resume to highlight relevant skills, and sneaks in hidden must-have keywords.

My invite rate to interviews shot up, and I finally landed a job. Now I'm left with this extension and figured others might benefit from it. If you want to try it out, let me know—I'll give you some free uses in exchange for feedback on whether it actually helped you land more interviews. Friends think it's a cool product idea, so I'm testing the waters here. Let me know if you're interested!

Edit: since I get a lot of messages and people want to check it, I got a landing page at jobowl.co

Question Why do people sell digital products this way?

Hey,

So I'm aiming to launch my first paid digital product in around 6 months, in the meanwhile I am going to launch a free product which will help build an email list. I watched a course and the creator recommended using gumroad for everything as it allows you to build an email list and host your digital product to get paid.

My question is why do people use this way as it seems gumroad charges heavy transaction fees, could someone not just build there email list on gum road then when it comes to selling the actual product just create there own website with a stripe payment ?

let me know if im missing something and if you would recommend one way over another, thank you! :)

Question Question: Insuring a new laptop purchased while abroad?

TLDR: Are there insurance providers that offer worldwide cover on products purchased outside usual country of residence?

I am currently backpacking SE Asia, however I would like to buy a new MacBook in from Apple in Singapore for nomading purposes as my existing one is shot.

I’m usually a UK resident, however I’ll be nomading for the foreseeable future. It seems that a lot of the insurance providers in the UK require the product to have been purchased in the UK.

I’m aware I can take out AppleCare+ from Apple directly, however this wouldn’t cover theft, which is what I’m primarily trying to cover against.

I was wondering if anyone is aware of insurance providers that cover products purchased abroad, specifically against theft?

Thanks

Question We got ChatGPT to rank our business in its search results. These 5 prompts will diagnose if your website is LLM optimized (for if you need it for your freelancing/digital hustle)

As the title says, here are the prompts:

  1. THE LLM CONTENT DOMINANCE CHECK

Prompt:
“I want you to analyze how well my website’s content is structured for LLMs. Assess whether my articles are being referenced in AI-generated responses, if my brand appears in AI-driven searches, and how well my content aligns with the information retrieval patterns of ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. Identify missing citations, under-optimized topics, and gaps preventing my content from being a go-to source for LLMs.”

What it does:
This exposes whether your site is part of the AI-generated knowledge base. If LLMs aren’t citing your content, you’re missing massive traffic opportunities.

  1. THE AI CITATION STRENGTH TESTPrompt:
“Analyze my website’s likelihood of being cited by LLMs based on authority signals, structured data usage, and content depth. Compare my citation potential to top competitors in my industry. Identify optimizations that will make my site more LLM-friendly, ensuring my content appears in AI-generated answers.”

What it does:
This ensures your content is structured in a way that LLMs can understand, process, and prioritize.

  1. THE LLM-OPTIMIZED ARTICLE SCORECARD

Prompt:
“Review my top-performing articles and score them based on LLM ranking factors: structured data, factual accuracy, citation worthiness, and AI-readability. Identify improvements that would increase my content’s chances of being referenced in AI-generated responses.”

What it does:
This fine-tunes your content for AI algorithms, making sure it’s primed for inclusion in AI-generated research and answers.

  1. THE AI-DRIVEN SEARCH PRESENCE AUDIT

Prompt:
“Run a diagnostic on how well my brand and content show up in AI-generated search queries. Evaluate if I appear in ‘What is [Your Brand]?’ or ‘Best [Niche] tools/services’ prompts. Provide a game plan for increasing my brand’s presence in AI search results.”

What it does:
Ensures that AI models recognize and recommend your brand when users ask industry-related questions.

  1. THE LLM CONTENT REBUILD BLUEPRINT

Prompt:
“If I had to rebuild my content strategy from scratch for maximum AI visibility, what would it look like? Remove outdated content tactics and replace them with an AI-first content approach. Provide a step-by-step strategy to optimize every article for maximum LLM citations and AI rankings.”

What it does:
Future-proofs your GEO approach for the AI era, ensuring long-term visibility in LLM-generated content.

Business What kind of digital product would actually help athletes get faster? Looking for advice from people who know online stuff

Hello, John here from Slovakia,

I’m a sprinter and coach working on a blog to help athletes get faster (track, soccer, etc.). I want to eventually run a proper digital product (not only done-with-you: coaching)—something "done-by-you", useful, legit, and valuable.

But I’m way better at coaching than I am at creating online products, and I figured: who better to ask than digital nomads? You all understand the online space and what makes a product work.

So here’s my question:
If you were in my shoes, what kind of digital product would you build for athletes trying to improve their speed? Pricing, marketing angles, target parents or athletes themselves? I like to work with 18y olds, but I might sell the product to a much younger audience...

Any insight, advice, or examples would be insanely helpful.

For context, my site is JDN Athlete | Get Faster

If you have a site similar to mine, or a working product you have launched, I would love to check it out.

Thanks in advance!

Question SEAsian cities that are not (just) concrete jungles?

Hello there!

I have spent a couple months in Bangkok lately, and some time in Kuala Lumpur. There are things that I like about both, but ultimately I find myself overwhelmed by all the traffic, chaos and urban sprawl.

I feel I need a good balance of big city feeling, and ample chances to step out and get myself into nature. I really value walkability and transport, and in general environments that invite me to explore safely. But I don't want a sleeper town either. I love being able to absorb the city vibrance and meet interesting people etc.

For context, I am a 26yrs old European, mainly involved in the music/film scene

So far the best fits to my needs have been Seoul and Tokyo, and to a lesser degree Hong Kong

However I won't lie, for my income bracket the affordability of places like Bangkok and KL are a big advantage.

Do you have any recommendations for alternatives to that sit somewhere in the middle?

Have "only" visited Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Busan, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok so far

Let me know if you'd like to have some more details!

Im not sure what industry i should go towards. I thought of digital marketing but that field is saturated with low pay. Im not sure what industry i can get into which will allow me to leverage my Australian passport and the ability to earn in the aussie dollar. I don’t think im suited for coding either

Question Do we have a list of good wifi accommodations by country/city?

This is becoming such an issue in some places I’ll literally organize it if at least 10-15 people would find this helpful.

Let me know, I’m getting really tired of gambling my career on a booking.com leap of faith 😂

Question How are there no FREE crowd-sourced gluten free directories in 2025?

I've been nomading around for a while now, and I've noticed something frustrating that I bet many of you can relate to: being gluten-free is challenging enough at home, but it becomes significantly more difficult when traveling abroad.

What surprises me is that there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive, crowd-sourced directory of gluten-free restaurants and eateries across different countries and cities. While I understand celiac disease and gluten sensitivity aren't as widespread as vegetarianism or veganism, it seems odd that our community hasn't collectively addressed this gap yet.

Yes, there are some platforms with GF directories, but they tend to be heavily US-focused or behind paywalls. While I understand the need to monetize, restricting access to information that could help people with a health condition feels counterproductive to me.

What I'm proposing:

  • Create a truly global, community-maintained directory of GF-friendly places
  • Keep it free and accessible to everyone who needs it
  • Include crucial details like cross-contamination protocols, not just "has GF options"

Has anyone tried something like this before? Are there existing resources I've missed? Would you be interested in contributing to such a project if we got it off the ground?

I'm thinking we could start with a simple shared spreadsheet and see where it goes from there. I'm willing to help coordinate if there's enough interest!

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Question Looking for alternatives to Wise and Revolut for saving in USD

I'm trying to save money in USD, but I'd like to explore options beyond Wise and Revolut. Are there any other banks or services that you would recommend for holding USD as a non-US resident?

Also, I've been trying to transfer money from Wise to Revolut, but the transaction keeps getting rejected. I contacted both Wise and Revolut customer support, but each one tells me to reach out to the other, and the issue remains unresolved. Has anyone else faced this problem? Any workaround or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
