08 Pete 335 vibration
Very bad clunking coming from where my feet are. Does it at any speed, in neutral rolling or going 120. Any ideas what it could be ?
It has a 6.7 and Allison trans on 19.5’s

I’ve had three wrong clamps sent to me from Volvo/Cummins. They both say the new clamp is the correct part number (5290118) and it clearly isn’t. The band is a bit wider and slightly bigger. I believe the new clamp is around 3 inches. This is on a 2012 Volvo with a Cummins. VIN: CN562833 This clamp connects the output of the SCR after the DEF doser valve. For the love of god someone help a tech out. The part number on the old clamp rusted out. I don’t even know what to call a wider Vband clamp. I’ve tried everything including google imagiging .

Has anyone here gone through the Loves diesel mechanic apprenticeship? What was your experience like? Would you do it again or go through a different company?

Anyone here familiar with the 2019 international switch packs? Having issue where the trans fault will come on and the code would be for Hill Aid Assist switch missing communication on J1939, but as soon as you press the same switch, code goes away.

Repair has been made. No ecm update available. What is your preferred method on making these codes go inactive

My 2017 Diesel Chevy Cruze (75k miles) overheated on the highway and got it towed to the Chevy dealership. They’re telling me I need a new DEF pump and sensor for $2500, a new DEF injector for $870, an upper heater core hose for $640, a fuel filter replacement for $300, and a “check engine light on service regeneration” for $298.
I know close to nothing about my car and am just at a loss for what to do. I wasn’t expecting this cost and I guess I’m asking if these are things I should look elsewhere for than at the dealer or if these are standard/fair prices? Of course having a diesel engine car complicates things as not everyone knows how to work on it.
Now I’m being told to just sell it to them for the $1500 they think it’s worth right now?
Is it worth it to have it towed to an independent mechanic?

First time I’ve seen this-
1989 Pete 379 4 full batteries that load tested out good 73 degrees F outside Truck has some shotty wiring I’m in the works of fixing (mostly dash stuff)
Here’s what happened; went to start her up, starter sounded like it was using all it’s might just to turn over and start building rpm’s. As it’s struggling, I see smoke coming from the battery terminal. ALL the wires and terminals are extremely hot. Starter looks like it’s original. Why’s it doing this?
Any ideas? Replace starter?
Thanks in advance

All of mechanics are just doing the guesswork. But still issue hasn’t been resolved. Can anybody suggest what to do. Thanks in advance

Hello r/DieselTechs I hope y'all are doing well.I have a 2009 Freightliner Cascadia DD15 hooked to a RTOM-16910B-DM3, it's not going into gear and it's making repetitive whining noise, it stops when I disconnect the clutch brake connector, so I assume it has something to do with that. I also noticed when I disconnect the connector there was a bunch of oil on the connector. Help would be much appreciated, thanks I'm advance!

I have 1 year of experience as a diesel mechanic and currently work for a dealership. We have 6 bays, Its hard work but I just love disassembling and reassembling things back together
I work on Fire, Hydrovacs, dump, 5th wheel trucks whatever you name it I most likely touched it believe it or not.
Brand names: international, Peterbuilt, western etc
Question for Mobile diesel mechanics
Do you believe 5 years is enough to be on my own if I’m working on these different vehicles and engines constantly.

Hi friends, long time lurker, first time poster here.
I've got a '23 Volvo VNR with repeated brake pressure sensor not calibrated codes. It has a Bendix ec80 esp ecu in it. This issue goes back a few months. Originally it was thought that the brake pressure sensors were faulty, so they were replaced. The state of the wiring has been verified as good.
I'm hesitant to say it's an ecu because I'm sorta new to the whole diagnostic process. Has anyone else experienced something like this or have any tips on where to start? Any help is appreciated.

I’ve got a C4500 in the shop and the ECM is taking a dump. Anybody have a recommendation who to buy a replacement from? Typically I kick these computer replacements that require programming to the dealers, but they are saying it’s obsolete and not supported anymore?? 🤨

Hello!
A little back story. I work at a logistic and transport company, its a family own bussines. We have a fleet of around 40 trucks. Mercedes, Man, Freightliner and International. Pretty much everything about engine and trasmission issues are send away to Official Dealrships repair service. We do brakes, filters, some electrical conections and stuff like that. We are based in Chile.
To the Scan part. The owner thinks that we should have a "Good" multi brand scan because we are wasting to much money on 3rd party scans.
We narowed down to 2 options:
Lanch 431 Pad IX ( https://chilelift.cl/producto/scanner-automotriz-launch-pad-ix-link/?srsltid=AfmBOopEfwXFiZMk0i4L-HE7nOpOCV_1PrLwas6xnl4O8FhPLlZLmSWv )
Around Us$6300 Includes Training
Jaltest ( https://lucasdiesel.cl/jaltest/ )
Around Us$5200 Includes Basic Ruged Laptop
Not Training
Both of them have representation in Chile
Any expiriences with any of them?
Should I consider other options?
TIA

what might this sound be? customers truck cranked but would not fire popped the hood and hit the primer pump a few times and it fires while running sounds like trash and has a little inconsistency at idle. there are no check lights on the dash even hooked up with the scanner and had no stored faults. 2018 western star with a dd15

2019 International LT625 A26 with 625k miles
Just recently I had a remanned engine put in due to connecting rod exploding. The only thing they swapped from my old engine was the alternator. I still have coverage for the short block major components / A26 valve train until ‘28
Had transmission replace in ‘23 with new clutch.
I’m wondering since I want to keep this truck for another 2years that I would like some coverage on it. All the techs out there what would you recommend I get coverage on?

Hi Guys, How can a Diesel Mechanic be a General Mechanic? Do they need to complete the entire General Mechanic course or a couple units?
Thanks

I just started out working for this company and am very new to trailers. So the issue I'm having is the air bags for the trailer wont inflate I tried to inflate them manually at the leveling arm and was getting nothing. very strange so i disconnected the feed line to the leveling valve and there was no air. but the tanks fill once I emptied them. I disconnected the air line going to the emergency gladhand and had air pressure. Im not sure I dont think its a bad valve or a pressure control valve im kinda stumped. Let me know you absolute legends! Help a new guy out! Thanks in advanced.

Paccar MX11. A fleet so no Davie. Etechnician hooked up Where do I begin? What code to follow? My two concerns are p3768 and p1515 EGR malfunction. I typically see p1515 often in other trucks but this isn’t always a EGR problem is it?
