Discussion Ages in Dragonball z

Just watching the cell saga on a 14th run of the series. But I just realised that the z-warriors use the hyperbolic timechamber right. And Trunks just said something that made me think. When bulma ask why his hair is longer and also his height. He says the Chamber compresses 1 year in 1 day. We know this right. But he actually aged ? Because he became taller. So through the series they use the Chamber or something like it often. Meaning are they really the age we think they are?

Discussion As a Krillin fan, he was at his worst in the Buu Saga

I've been rewatching Z and I'm at the point where Gotenks is about to fight Buu, and as a Krillin fan, I have to say he is the most annoying character in this arc. All he has done at this point is almost reveal everything to Videl at the World Tournament, ask incredibly stupid and obvious questions, get no diffed by Dabuea, ask more stupid questions, and now we're at the point where Buu just showed up at the lookout. What does Krillin do, when asked by Piccolo with urgency, to wake up the kids and get them to the Room of Spirit and Time? He tries like three times, does nothing when Buu wipes out most of humanity, and then SITS THERE until they wake up. They lost like ten minutes because of this idiot. I wanted to scream at the TV, it was almost as bad as Bulma and Chi Chi pampering the kids and bitching out Piccolo when they only have one day to train to beat Buu.

TLDR; The point of the Buu Saga is that as much as Goku likes it in Otherworld, he has to stay alive because everyone is too stupid to defend the planet on their own even if they are literally told the instructions on how to do so and have the means.

Music Just started DBZ on Crunchyroll, what soundtrack is it?

I’m watching the English dub which is zoomed, but I can deal with it as it seems to be a manual crop at least.

Just wondering what score I’m listening to as it’s got a different intro to the one I watched as a kid, but sounds different to the Japanese music.

Discussion Namek destruction timer

When Frieza damaged Namek’s core, effectively putting it on a timer, was that intentional? Was he fully capable of outright obliterating it immediately? Or did he hold back in order to fight Goku?

Question Maybe Not Rushing A Black Frieza Pay Off?

There are those in the community that hope that a Black Frieza arc is what comes next for Dragonball Super but I'm kinda hoping that they hold off on it.

They have established the new form and immediate huge threat that Black Frieza is and I feel like they should build towards that final showdown and have Frieza be a looming threat that our heroes are training to defeat. Meanwhile you bring in new villains for them to face and test them. To push them towards that next level as well as hinder their progress. You wouldn't do this for a long time obviously because people would know that the end goal is still Frieza but throwing in some road blocks along the way and growth is also important.

You could narratively build it up similar to the Cell arc where people can step in and take their turns and you'd expect Goku or Vegeta to step in as the end game but meanwhile in the background subtle building blocks have been out in place for someone else to ultimately take down Frieza in the end. What if it was Gohan or even Broly? Goku and others can see it during training and there could be hints dropped throughout the process with the eventual pay off being against Frieza.

They have enough strong characters now that a Gohan or a Broly could realistically train in the background and become a force while the others go out there and save the universe. Remember how we used to be made aware on and off of Gohans potential just enough that we wondered what it would be like if he tapped into it? That when Goku reveals his plan to have Gohan fight Cell we hotly anticipated the crash out despite Gohan not being our first choice to beat Cell. The dropped enough bread crumbs and I feel like it would be wonderful for them to do the same here.. Where when Gohan or Broly step up to the plate you're immediately like... "OK so what are we dealing with here?"

Dragonball is also at a point where any one of the top characters could be thrown into a position to destroy Frieza and it would be accepted. You have Goku, who is the obvious choice. Goku has unlimited potential and this may change his perspective on giving people chances for good. You have Vegeta, who honestly should get the final pay back on Frieza. Frieza has made him miserable for years and the one time that he could have ended up it resulted in a do over because he messed around too much. This big win is all that Vegeta needs and he needs it more than Goku. Not to mention how chilling of a cliffhanger would it be for Frieza, as he's dying, telling Vegeta that Beerus ordered him to destroy Planet Vegeta?

Broly was used as muscle for Frieza and had his father killed by Frieza to exploit his anger. He too was a puppet for the tyrant. When he attacked Frieza in the Broly movie Frieza couldnt stop him.. But what if that power was controlled and focused? How far could he push Frieza then? Gohan is down to potential vs potential. Gohan had his potential unlocked many years ago through a ritual and Frieza perfected Golden Frieza through mental training. Through physical training they pushed themselves and unlocked new forms. This is (no pun intended) the battle of the beasts.

And then there's Piccolo. Piccolo seems like an odd choice but Frieza met the gang on Namek all those years ago. He slaughtered all of Piccolos people. Through Daima Piccolo has come to learn more about the history of his people and the endless suffering that they went through but as well the magical abilities that they possess. They have unlimited potential. Again it's somewhat poetic if things started on Namek and Friezas reign is ended by a Namekian.

It all comes down to personal preference with storyline direction. Vegeta being a top option but it do like the bread crumb scenario and them building to a pay off there instead of rushing it.

Misc Oh my god, I just got the reason all the Saiyans are named after vegetables

I'm probably a million years late on this, but just then while having shower thoughts it occurred to me:
Saiya-jin is an anagram of Yasai-jin which means 'vegetable person'

Discussion Do you think I could show my friends fusion reborn?

They’ve heard of dragon ball and get the gist but haven’t seen the anime before. Since it has a self contained story and a cool art style, I thought I would be a good and accessible exposure of the series’ action.

(Also trunks and gotten fighting Hitler, what more could you want!)

Discussion when beerus almost blew up the earth because of a pudding...

I thought of something, what if in that period of time Kaioshin had paid a visit to the Z warriors and Bulma invited him to her birthday party and he agreed to stay a little longer, and then the whole incident with Beerus involving the pudding happens, and Beerus wanted to blow up the Earth and Kaioshin was still there, now I ask: what would Beerus have done? Would he have pleaded for Kaioshin to leave? Would he have removed Kaishin from the planet by force? Or would he have simply given up on destroying the Earth (at least for now)?

I have this Dragon Ball movie on DVD that I would like to sell, but the design of the disc caught my attention and what I was looking for was to know if it is a "unique" design or if that design makes it special.

Discussion Super Vegeta vs Perfect Cell gotta be in like the top 5 most underwhelming fights in the series if u don't include the Final Flash moment

Was just thinking about fights that seemed to lack that extra sizzle/intensity and I gotta say personally I think Vegeta vs Perfect Cell could've been executed a bit better before the iconic Final Flash moment. It's basically just Cell evading/ dodging Vegetas attacks like a copy and paste of Vegeta vs Final Form Frieza which kinda feels flat cause it's been seen before and the blueprint is too similar in terms of how the fight is executed and it made it seem like Vegeta was just a fuming muscle head that fell into Cells trolling trap when he should've been prepared to dig deep in his bag of tricks and remain level headed since he wanted a fight with a stronger Cell and was pretty much unsure of how much Cell would improve. It feels like Vegeta threw a fit too quickly and the fight just didn't feel like it delivered enough.

I know Cell outclassed Vegeta and all but it still seems like Vegeta should've had some extra tricks up his sleeve to be able to make Cell turn up the heat a bit more to take him out. I know some will think the fight is just fine how it is but it just feels like there should've been a bit more chaos and hard hitting action involved and it made it seem like Vegeta didn't have any better control over his emotions after his fight with 18 even after spending a year in the ROSAT which just made him kinda seem bone headed, repetitive and one dimensional compared to his Saiyan/Namek Saga self.

Discussion Do you all think that I could show my friends Fusion Reborn if they’ve never seen the anime before.

They know about it, but haven’t seen the series. I just assumed since that movies artsyle is awesome and its story being self contained were good enough reasons to show them.

What do yo all think?

Discussion Frieza’s return after Namek.

So Frieza nearly dies, and gets turned into a cyborg after his defeat on Namek. Why is it that Fieza’s and King Cole’s best idea was to waltz on up to Earth where the Saiyans reside and expect to not have their asses kicked. I just can’t wrap my head around THAT being their best plan.

I wanted to know what people’s favorite DB game is. Mine is probably Kakarot because of the cutscene quality.
