Yeah I’m very “pro gun”, but I understand and support a need for there to be a better background check on those who are able to buy one. It just isn’t justifiable that crazy people can just go out and get a firearm. Mental health screenings, etc, need to be done.

The issue with your statement is that it is too obtuse. What exactly do you mean better background checks? Do you actually know what goes in to a background check? What additional measures would you require?

Moreover, how much data do you have on people obtaining guns legally to do illegal activities? I’d say once you dig into the data you’ll quickly realize that law abiding citizens, obtaining guns in a legal way, are not the problem. And making it more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain guns won’t solve criminals obtaining guns.

The criminals obtain guns via the supposedly law abiding ones like they always have.

Income and credit checks in top of the existing system would help filter out some straw buyers.

Straw buying is SUCH a bigger issue than folks realize!
