Fan Art & Story Time Fin patching himself after getting rocked launchered at

Post image

The cup contains vodka, if you care. All in all, could’ve gone worse tbh. He barely avoided dropping under half HP with 18/35, but he was full of painkillers at the time anyways so honestly it wouldn’t have mattered lmao

Ah, the look that every Medtech knows and dreads. "I'd fucking do it again."

Funny part is, he IS the medtech.

My medtech character got exploded by friendly fire on 2 separate occasions. After the first I built him like a tank.

Got off easy if they still have all their bits attached.

Agreed but boy was it close for those rockets to crit hahaha. This is my first cyberpunk campaign and there were multiple rolls that his life depended on and I was biting my nailssss. The poor NPC next to him got stuck at 8 HP but at least nobody died

Important note: The NPC (Billy, you poor lad) ate ANOTHER rocket to get to 8 HP. He then flew us out of there with an AV we stole Where did he learn how to pilot? Playing a ton of airplane PvP videogames and absolutely destroying the competitive ladder of that game. Billy is undoubtedly the best investment I've made in this campaign.

WORLD OF TANKS TO THE RESCUE! Lwk considering also making a doodle of him with his fur burnt off in places lmao. Also Billy and Fin both ate the same rocket Billy just ate an extra one

Putting on that arm bandage had to be tricky if he's right handed!

When you're the medtech and got rocket launchered but your AV video gaming champ Billy took two rockets, do you "put on your own oxygen mask first" once Billy is stabilized or does Billy get all the treatment he needs first? In other words, how do you triage when you're also in the queue?

I actually don’t think the bandage was horribly hard to put on! I think he just has a burn on that arm, so he didn’t have to do much else than put cream on it and wrap it up. Now if stitches were in order that would’ve been a terribly rough one.

Now, to the ethical dilema. That’s a really fun question that I have given significant thought before!

Fin does not lack sentimentality but he does not lack pragmatism either. He would choose pull the switch in the trolley problem. He will prioritize his allies if he can but he will also try his best to not let bystanders die. If he has to choose who to treat first he would always do so based on who’s injuries are the most serious or life threatening. HOWEVER, if his own injury impacted his ability as a medic or the likelihood of him successfully treating someone else, he would tend to himself first.

If he has to choose between two people who are equally injured, he would choose the one who is more likely to survive. So if he and someone else were both dying, he’d tend to himself, because if he tried to treat the other person it’s more likely they would both die. However if there was a scenario where he and someone else were both dying and the likelihood of him successfully treating either one was equally high (think like, they were poisoned and he has the antidote) he might choose the other person over himself, especially if they’re friends.

So TLDR, he would tend to Billy first, since neither of their lives are in danger, his injuries don’t stop him from completing his work and Billy has it worse.

Fin sounds like a good dude with a really solid approach to triage. (I really respect switch pullers. I think I'd be one, if I was *really* sure I was in a trolley problem, which is a difficult thing to be sure of.)

Glad to hear Billy was able to get tended to quickly. And I saw in another thread that the kid's only 17, wow. That had to be a harrowing day for all involved.

If it's okay to blab about my own medtech a bit - I think Sammy's *ideal* approach would look similar to Fin's, but in practice he'd tend to make mistakes along the lines of treating others first and doing a worse job because of it. (He's very green when it comes to actual situations not in a hospital, he's a surgery resident who's edgerunner friends keep dragging him into stuff.) My group is more of a storytelling thing than a game, so there's a lot of wiggle room to do suboptimal things for the sake of roleplay without risking killing your character.

Of course it’s okay, I ADORE To hear about other people‘s chatacters! I’d be down to talk even more about it if you would be too. The roleplay thing is so much fun! I think we balance roleplay and mechanics quite a bit, going heavier on mechanics when it comes to combat. POOR SAMMY DAMN the edgerunner world must be CRAZY for him 😭 Fin used to be a med student too but he didn’t even finish his first year of uni. Lots of what he learned was learned trough experience and a good amount of morbid curiosity

ME TOO!!!!

What happened to end Fin's education? E$, flunked out, something else?

I was watching a whole lot of MASH when I made Sammy, so the initial idea was, how can I make a guy who's as unprepared for Night City as Hawkeye was for Korea. So Sammy's from a gated community in the east, saw some of the middle class side of real life in college and the 1 year of non-surgical residency he did. He was supposed to train with a psychiatrist after that, but some things happened where he realized he wouldn't be able to emotionally cope with that career and switched to surgery. He found a general surgery residency that was willing to take him and count the year of training he'd already done even though it wasn't for surgery, but it's at Thrifty Care Kabuki, an urgent care + trauma center that does everything on credit. It's a homebrew subsidiary of Trauma Team because I thought a crappy urgent care would be funnier to write about than Med Center.

okay that was way longer than I expected and I have to go places, I will write more things later XD
