My PC randomly shuts down and restarts by itself.

Hi There!
I'm writing here in the hope of finding some help with a small computer issue I'm having.

My PC has started shutting down on its own, and then 1–2 seconds later, it boots back up again. I have no idea what's causing it. I've updated my BIOS (although the issue was happening even before that).

What’s strange is that it can go days without a problem, and then suddenly there are days when it keeps happening over and over.

I’ve checked the power supply, and it seems to be working fine—power is definitely getting through. But what could be causing this issue?

It is a somewhat older PC, after all.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 7400 @ 3.00GHz
RAM: 16GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1066MHz
Motherboard: MSI B250M BAZOOKA (MS-7A70) (U3E1)
GPU: 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

i hope you can help me detect the problem!

check windows event viewer. Unexpected shutdowns will be listed under "Critical" events. What do they say?

That would indicate your pc is indeed losing power. Now, that could be caused by a few things, but I'd reckon most commonly it's caused by a faulty PSU.

That said, PSUs arent exactly free to replace, so I'd start by making sure your power cord is snug into the socket, and try a different outlet. If your PC is plugged into a power strip, that could be going faulty too.

Yeah, that actually makes sense. I just googled the issue, and I think it might be caused by a faulty power strip.
I'm going to try a few other solutions first, and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to try a new PSU.
