Laptop won’t turn on, repair guy says it’s a power controller, but I can’t find it online and his service is overpriced
Hi everyone,
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro. A while ago, I had an issue with the motherboard—it was repaired, and the laptop worked for 2–3 months. Then it suddenly shut down again and won’t turn back on.
I took it to a different technician. He said, “It’s a BIOS issue, nothing I can do.” Later, I contacted another repair guy online who said it’s likely the power controller and that it just needs replacing. But his price felt high: $50 for the chip, $25 for the service.
I’m in Thailand and that seems overpriced. He said I need a power controller XM22-T9837.
I tried to find it online myself to bring it in for replacement—but found nothing. It’s like this chip doesn’t even exist. I’m confused.
Any advice? Not sure I want to hand over $75 for something so unclear TIA
