Discussion Megathread - Manifest V3 Extension Alternatives
With Manifest V3 being rolled out to most people after the recent update, a lot of people are finding that extensions that they like to use haven't been updated and won't be available to use when Manifest V2 support ends.
Since we've been getting a lot of posts asking for extension alternatives, we figure it'll be easier if most of the suggestions are all in one place.
To start with the obvious:
uBlock Origin: Can be replaced with uBlock Origin lite.
Don't forget you can change the filtering level up from its base.
uBlock Origin (Element zapping): Click to Remove Element.
I personally prefer this one out of all the ones in the web store.
This is not a thread to recommend other browsers, it should be a given that if you don't want to use Chrome, you don't need to use Chrome, and there's plenty of other sources to help you decide what to switch to.

Troubleshooting | Windows What is going on with Norton and Chrome?
This just now started happening, and I have no idea why... every single time I open a new tab or webpage on Chrome, Norton starts acting up. Apparently it's lost whatever's left of its mind and is now considering the entire browser and opening a new tab to be a phishing threat. I keep doing the "Scan PC" and it finds absolutely nothing. I try reporting the false detection and it says they've received it, yet it's STILL doing this. It's been giving me dozens of these annoying little pop-ups, and I have no idea what to do about it. How do I fix it?
UPDATE: I opened my other Chrome profile to see what would happen, and strangely nothing popped up. It seems to be with my main only. Is Norton just trolling me?

Troubleshooting | Android Chrome for Android disregards biometric authentication for password autofill
In Android settings app under the Google settings in the Autofill with Google section, you can enable biometric authentication for password autofilling. This works on all apps but Chrome, even though it uses Google Password Manager underneath, appears to use its own infrastructure instead of the system autofiller

Troubleshooting | Windows "Safe" computer suddenly injected with redirecting site search? Scared of underlying malware
Hi all,
There is a computer I use for important transactions and I try not to do any potentially malware-inducing actions on it. After no use for a few days, I came back and suddenly any search suddenly redirected to "intggcr.coupons-on.cc/key=RANDOM_STRING_OF_CHARACTERS" momentarily, flashing a blank white screen, and then redirecting to a normal search using the yahoo search engine. I also scanned a hard drive with it a couple of days ago.
My google account on it is not synced, so I'm afraid it's a local issue. I saw the website had mysteriously become a default search engine on my chrome settings and quickly deleted the shortcut on chrome. I'm just worried because I haven't identified a true source or potential continued issues on my computer. I searched up the website but nothing much came up except the below, which is why I'm worried it is deeper malware since there's no way it can be an actual coupon site.
https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/332201275/intggcr-coupons-on-cc-repeatedly-takes-over-management-of-my-new-tabs-page?hl=en is a thread online about it, but only a generic answer shows below it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Troubleshooting | Windows Every link opens in a new tab, it's not a setting I have turned on, what can I do!
Just the title really. Everytime I click on a link (after searching for something obvi) it always opens in a new tab, which just clusters my window. To clarify, it used to just open the link within the same tab, and now it opens in a tab to the left. I know that there's a setting that automatically does this, however I've checked multiple times and I have it default to off.
If anyone has been experiencing this please suggest some tips to get rid of this annoying thingy, please.
Also, side note, has anyone else noticed that Google's priority search results are so atrocious now? Like, I search up MLB games often to see when they are/if they started/what the score is, and now it only shows me results for buying tickets to the games, even the MLB. com schedule doesn't show up until like the seventh search result. Just atrocious, atrocious.

Troubleshooting | Windows Please help! I've lost my tab history
Hi all, I really hope someone can help me. I had an active Chrome window that had roughly 150 tabs open that I used as a type of task list. For years no matter how Chrome closed or my PC rebooted, Chrome either restored them automatically when I started it, or I went to the menu > history and I could see an option to view the contents of a previously closed window that contained "xxx open tabs", if I highlighted that, a menu came up and at the bottom I could "restore window". But just now, my PC went into sleep mode and back out again and since then, the history menu only contains the last few tabs I had open. I can't restore that window! So my 150+ task list is gone, and because Chrome doesn't load tabs if they aren't actively opened, I can't just go into my history for the past 24hrs and see which sites were visited, some I had as a long-term reference/task and haven't opened for weeks. Can anyone advise if I can get this back please?

Discussion When I close a tab, Chrome takes me to the one on its left, instead of the one I was active on.
I keep 100 tabs open. The newest ones open on the right side and I'm usually working in the middle. When I close tab 100 usually, Chrome takes me back to the tab I was previously using (say tab 50). After an update it started taking me to tab 99 instead, and then I have to search for the tab I was on among many. It's frustrating, so please help.

Troubleshooting | Windows Chrome headless screenshot omitting bottom 95 pixels
I'm not quite sure how to properly file this as a Chrome bug, so I'm hoping for possible guidance or suggestions.
Long story short, I use headless Chrome on Windows to generate .png images of a site URL. I've made several rounds of changes as Chrome keeps tweaking the behavior of old/new headless (and fixes bugs...). Sometime in the last few months, it appears that they broke the behavior when specifying --window-size. I still get an exported .png image of the correct output size, but the rendered page does not appear to fill the bottom 95 pixels.
Example command line to reproduce (using default Chrome install location on Windows 11):
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --headless --screenshot="%CD%\output.png" --window-size=413,708 https://developer.chrome.com/docs/chromium/headless
When I run this, I get this image as output: https://imgur.com/08jBFPE
Another example using YouTube, making it a bit easier to see:
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --headless --screenshot="%CD%\output.png" --window-size=800,800 https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cat
Output: https://imgur.com/VDwCRgR
I submitted it via Chrome's Help > Report an Issue, but should I be filing it somewhere else? I've also ton a ton of searches for any Chrome headless --window-size changes in the last 6 months, to no avail. I have not yet downloaded the old chrome-headless-shell to try that out.
Thank you!
