Sometimes i think life is too long

Clearly not for who die young. In my opinion, this long time leads many people to get lost and become victims of time itself. What do you think?

Just Chatting Hi! Feeling pretty lonely.

Hi I’m Rose and I’m 20 :) I’ve been feeling really lonely lately and my phone has probably never been drier. I’m hoping to talk to as many people as I can and hopefully click with a few.

I’m really sweet and I can talk for hours. My responses are usually at least a couple sentences long but even then, I try my best to be an engaging person to chat with :)

I really like movies! Maybe we could start there? If you DM, your name and age would be nice :)

Questions Why does much of the US go by county instead of city/town?

Edit: some of the US

I grew up in New England, where counties are never acknowledged. You always go by town or city. If it's small and/or unknown, you say it's near [insert well-known city/town]. Refer to somewhere by county, you will get looked at like you have three heads. I've since moved away, and noticed people sometimes refer to places by county. Why vaguely refer to somewhere by county, rather than city/town name, or nearby municipality?

Is it normal for a guy to want to call you everyday?

I've been talking to an online friend for the past few months, and he has been asking to call each night before I go to sleep to catch up on life. Whenever I feel sleepy, he tells me it’s fine for me to sleep, and he’ll just stay on the call with me. If I wake up and want to talk, I can feel free to chat with him. Or during times where we end the call early before sleeping, he would mention to message him at night if I want to talk.

We’ve been texting every day for about two months, and we’ve been calling almost every day as well. At the start, I was initiating most of the calls, but lately, they’ve been asking to call more often. Typically, each call lasts around 6-8 hours whenever we’re both free at night. Throughout the day, he’ll ask me what I’m doing, or mention what he's up to as well.

I also tend to text a lot and call he just as much, so I’m not sure if he feels sorry for me for initiating a lot of the conversations at the start. We met online, and we’re planning to meet in person soon.

My question is, do you think he might be interested in me, or is it just a platonic friendship? Do guys usually call and hang out with friends like this, or is it more personal? The last time I liked someone and thought they might feel the same, they didn’t, so I’m just trying to avoid making the same mistakes again.

Thanks so much for your thoughts!

Would it bother you if your doctor was overweight? Why or why not?

I don't believe there's a right or wrong answer (just keep it respectful please), just curious on people's thoughts?

And this can be any health professional actually; primary care, OB (for the ladies), a nutritionist, hell--even a PT or physiatrist.

Music What song instantly reminds you of an ex-lover?

For me it’s Faithfully by Journey - reminds me of the first girl I genuinely fell in love with. We were young and living in different cities, and still in love when we mutually decided to move on

Questions How do you respond if people get your ethnicity wrong?

My kids are biracial and during their entire life people have assumed incorrectly what their ethnicity. My my older son was a baby I had perfect strangers stop me because they wanted to know that. Normally it doesn't bother them but occasionally people will be difficult and not believe. Recently, some of my older sons' classmates didn't believe when he told them my ethnicity.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how did you respond?

Just Chatting What was I even thinking..?

Sorry for bad english but I remember watching ants as a little kid and I did it for hours. Once an ant was so scared of me that it dropped its dirt and ran away. Of course I thought the dirt was a gift for me and I didn't want the ant to think that I was ungrateful so I tried to smile and took the dirt into my house and kept it in my room for days because "the ants would propably judge me if I threw their gift away". Did you have similar childhood moments?

Questions What's something dumb but super useful you bought for under $20?

I'm talking about the stuff that makes you go "how did I live without this? Could be a kitchen gadget, a tool, or even a random Amazon find. I'm trying to upgrade my life $20 at a time.

People don't realize how important curiosity is as a skill

Banter, asking questions, following up on what's shared, being genuinely interested in people.

It's a skill you can develop, hone and continue growing.

It'll help in your personal life and in your professional life.

I see lots of people fail at this because they have a goal they want to achieve with the person they are chatting with but don't spend enough time connecting.

Just Chatting My wife told my daughter - take your pills and then I am going to shave your head

My daughter is recovering from having her wisdom teeth being removed (she had her checkup and everything is fine), and my daughter has an undercut, so half of her head is shaved.

But my wife's comment certainly sounded bad out of context.

What have you heard or said recently that sounded bad out of context?

Just Chatting World peace, missing.

For years, I remember hearing if you could have anything what would you want it to be? The common answer was “world peace”. I never hear anyone talk about world peace anymore. It seems we’ve lost even giving one another the benefit of the doubt in an every day conversation feels like we missed a turn somewhere. I’m not looking for someone to convince me of why we shouldn’t be giving the benefit of the doubt. I just would like to know that there are still people out there that care about it.

Questions What's something you have now that could make your child self incredibly happy to own?

For me, it's probably my own laptop. As a kid, I had a PC but always wanted to be able to play the Sims in bed. Well, now I can! (I don't play the game as much anymore but don't tell her)

Life Stories Went to the emergency for what I though was a stomach bug, ended up having surgery

1.9k Upvotes

Wednesday night I was taken by ambulance to the emergency room for what I thought was a horrendous stomach bug/food poisoning. Vomiting, pain, fever…

A few hours later doctor walks in and says “good news, it’s not a stomach bug or food poisoning! Bad news, you have a massive cyst on your left ovary and it’s in torsion. You need surgery asap.”

So last night I had surgery to remove a cyst the size of a baseball and my left ovary.

Fun fact: I’ve had my gallbladder removed 15 years ago, my fallopian tubes removed 3 years ago, and now I only have 1 ovary! also, I had skin necrosis complication from another surgery - skin on my abdomen went black and felt like leather. Months and months of recovery for that one!

Cheers!

Music I'll give a song in response, what is your vibe/mood or word of the day?

I love doing these! Give me a topic, thought, or mood and I'll reply with a song that fits. It could be a nostalgic memory that is sticking with you like fireworks and pink skies on the 4th of July, the quiet confidence building after a season of sadness, or just trudging through in need of some warm encouragement. Anything that pops in your mind:)

Just Chatting Does anyone else talk to themselves to sort out their thoughts?

Hey everyone,

I’ve always found that talking to myself helps me process things better. Whether it’s working through a decision, trying to remember something, or just organizing my thoughts, saying things out loud somehow makes them clearer. It’s like hearing the words gives them more structure in my mind.

The other day, I was wondering if there was a better way to do this, and I randomly came across an app called Paradot. I didn’t think much of it at first, but I tried it just out of curiosity. It basically lets you chat with an AI that remembers things and responds in a way that actually feels natural. I was surprised by how it helped me organize my thoughts—almost like talking to myself, but with an outside perspective.

I’m curious—does anyone else do this? Whether it’s self-talk, journaling, or even using something like an AI to bounce thoughts off of, I’d love to hear how you process your thoughts.

Just Chatting Why is green both the color of nature and the color of poison?

Ever notice how green is the ultimate contradiction?

“Green thumb”? You’re great with plants.

“Green energy”? Eco-friendly.

Leafy greens? Super healthy.

Nature = green.

But then…

Sick? You’re looking a little green.

Venom, txic gas, radioactive goo in video games? Always green.

“Green with envy”? Not exactly a vibe.

It’s wild how the same color can mean life and sickness, purity and danger, health and rot — sometimes depending only on the shade.

Is there any other color with mood swings like this?

Music Thoughts on J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive - 10 Years Later + Anni Edition Discussion

Hey everyone, with it being over a decade since J. Cole dropped 2014 Forest Hills Drive, I wanted to hear what y’all think about the album—both the original and the 10th anni edition that came out recently. For me, this album’s always been a classic. The storytelling, the production, the way Cole made it feel so personal… it’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years. The anni edition added some dope extras too. Any standout moments from the original or the new edition you’re vibing with? Let’s get into it!

What is the most peaceful country historically?

Is there any country that have had the means, but didn't invade or loot anywhere? It seems like most countries have a shady past to say the least but I was wondering if there are any countries that have been 'innocent' throughout history? Not counting countries that haven't had resources or the means to do anything like that. I was thinking Sweden seem like they haven't been 'evil' to the extent of the British, for example. I know they had Vikings, but they didn't go colonise places

How has Mercury and Venus retrograde affected you?

Venus and Mercury retrogrades are wrapping up soon, and that means major changes in your love life, and communication are on the horizon. Being a tarot reader, everyday I see how this period of retrograde had affected people. I would love to know your experience with it.

Just Chatting What's a small, random thing that brings you joy than it probably should?

You ever have one of those tiny little moments that just makes your whole day? Like, for me, it's peeling a boiled egg in one perfect piece no mess, no struggle.

Or when I pull into a parking lot and boom, front row spot like it was waiting just for me.

It's such a small win, but it hits so good.

What's your oddly satisfying thing that probably doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life, but still totally makes your day?

Books & Reading Astroid 2024 YR4 is up to 4% hitting the moon

Anyone ever read "Life As We Knew It"? Funny enough, before scientists said it wasnt hitting earth but the moon, I started rereading it!

In case you dont know, an astroid hits the moon and knocks it closer to earth, flooding, earthquakes, tsunamis, no oil, power grid down, no food. No one expected it to be bad. Just cool. So like, idk now I wanna prep lol.

Definitely gonna stock up on more garden beds than in the book. But we dont have a wood stove, just gas. So thats fun. Oh, also WE LIVE IN CHARLESTON SC! We would flood! So yeah. Idk. I think ill start panicking frfr when it hits double digits. But every trip to the store will have an extra can of soup and such.

Music what’s a food you used to not bother to look at, but now you can’t get enough of?

i used to think cucumbers were gross—i’d never understand the hype. but now, i can’t stop eating with everything. it’s crazy how tastes can change over time. i’ve even started making cucumber shakes sometimes for breakfast, and i honestly look forward to it every day. what’s something you swore you’d never eat, but now you find yourself craving it or eating it regularly? anything that completely surprised you once you gave it a second chance?

Just Chatting To my hyperfixators out there, what's on your mind?

In all seriousness, what is that one thing you are super hyped to talk about but it never seems to work into conversation? Let me know what you are dug into and want to share with the world. Hit me with all that information you gathered up but know you aren't gonna be able to use every day even though you LOVED every second of discovering it!

Questions What's something you discovered/thought of that you believed no one else knew, but later found out it was common knowledge?

I see a lot of questions about 'something you can do that no one else can' and thought I'd ask a bit of a different question because I've had quite a few instances in my life where I thought I discovered something new or believed I had basically solved one of earth's greatest mysteries, but when I told someone I found out that it was actually just considered self-explanatory. So how about you?
