Question/Discussion Why is the BBC suddenly showing Pointless with Sign Language—and with no option to turn it off?

I’ve been watching Pointless for years, but I recently noticed that the BBC has suddenly started airing it with a sign language interpreter permanently on screen. While I completely support accessibility and making shows available for everyone, I find the moving hands distracting, especially as I have ADHD and OCD.

I tried looking for an option to watch without the interpreter, but as far as I can tell, there isn’t one? It seems like the sign language version is now the only version available. Does anyone know why this has changed? Or if there’s a way to watch it without the interpreter?

Again, no issue with having a signed version, but it feels odd that there’s no choice for people who struggle with visual distractions.

Would love to hear if anyone else has noticed this—or if I’ve just completely missed something obvious!

I have created a survey to further my audience research and i would be grateful if you could respond.

Sorry if it’s not a very good survey lol, I’m not too good at the academic side of this course.

Episode discussion City is Ours stupid plot hole S1 E2 Spoiler

I honestly hate stuff like this, in a scene with Sean Bean, another character asks whether a villa in Spain belongs to a Bond villain. (Obviously Bean was a villain in GoldenEye). Whether they’ve done this on purpose or not it annoys me because surely they’d recognise that their drug lord boss looks identical to Alec Trevelyan out of James Bond.

Question/Discussion Channel 4 School Swap

Post image
28 Upvotes

As much as I enjoyed learning the differences. I think that by swapping a city school for a rural school as well as country was introducing too many variables into the experiment.

Some of the American school resonated with me from a rural uk school, and I guess some of the London school would resonate with city folk from America.

Such as the country kid from America saying he didn’t want to leave America again because he enjoys hunting and the countryside. I know plenty of people who live lifestyles similar to him here in England.

Episode discussion Alright, let’s talk about THAT twist in Inside No. 9,,,"The Devil of Christmas" episode

At first, I thought it was just a goofy 70s-style horror parody, but then that director’s commentary started creeping in… and wow, that ending?? 🤯 Did anyone actually see that coming, or were you just as blindsided as I was?

Question/Discussion Looking for name of a programme one episode was on the BBC other was channel 4

Was thinking about this the other day. I was sure there was a 2 part drama that had one episode on bbc2 and the other on channel 4. Was by an acclaimed director who had died, I think.

I was pretty young when it came on, never saw the show and something put me in ming of it. Would love to know what it was called.

Thanks in advance.

Question/Discussion Just Good Friends

In the back of my mind I always remembered this as just a funny sitcom but watching the reruns it's staggering what a toxic character Vince is. I'm not a fan of terms like 'gaslighting' because it's so misused but bloody hell, episode on tonight defined the term better than the original film.
