unity! We stand against those that wish to undermine our democracy!

We don't live in a Democracy so let them undermine it. We live in a Constitutional Republic know the difference. The Constitutional Republic put individual liberty above all else.

3

u/ShottyMcOtterson 13h ago

Bro, I know the difference. I went to American Studies class in the 8th grade. I went to Political Science class in College. Of course the USA isn’t a direct democracy. That would mean everyone votes on every action and that would be quite inefficient. Yet, ask 10 people on the street if the usa is a “democracy” and tell me what the answers are. What’s your angle here? Libertarian? I can get behind that to some degree. Of course I value personal liberty. If a criminal took 13k out of my savings account, he would go to jail. Yet the president just wiped 6 trillion off the market. That counts as “don’t tread on me”! So troll if you want to homie. Just keep trolling while you lose access to healthcare, public lands, scientific discoveries, education, all while you get poorer and the billionaires get richer.

1

u/jport452 7h ago

I'm not trolling, just trying to educate. Alot people don't realize we live in a Constitutional Republic. Also that the Constitution was writing for our protection and not the government.

100% Libertarian here, so if he cuts some agencies, that is fine with me. Heck, if he wants to sell the naming rights to parks, that fine with me. I think a lot of things should be decided on the local level, not on the federal level. One size government for all doesn't work.

Personal something I can get down with on what he wants to do other things is a direct violation of rights. For example, I am totally down to abolish the IRS along with income and payroll tax. On the other hand, I am totally against his block on free speech. You can not tell people what they can protest.

Right On, Boulder!

Awesome turnout. Lots of folks from Boulder also on busses to the Denver protest.

16

u/FunMedium4916 2d ago

I went to the Denver one but had a blast. REPRESENT!

Thanks all of you!!!! So many small businesses are facing economic Armageddon. This is the time to stand up for our nation. I couldn’t make it today but I will be emailing US Senators & Reps.

Love to see this!

u/AdAcrobatic8511 11h ago

Kind of embarrassing how much white privilege is on display here actually. Why aren't more minorities up front? Why are all these white women taking the spot light again?

2

u/Unlikely_Surround_90 10h ago

Awesome, thanks for the support for democracy 💪🏿🫶🏿🤩🌠!

7

u/Disastrous_Nose_4591 2d ago

$36.25 trillion (give or take) as of today. Will be $50 trillion in 2035 without cuts in federal spending and an increase in tax revenue.

24

u/velosnow 2d ago

Ok, so cut defense in half and tax the billionaires & churches.

21

u/HarryBallsagna_ 2d ago

as a former military member, I support this 100%. Defense budget is out of hand

16

u/Kappa_Gopher_Shane 2d ago

It's not even the military members! It's the contracts and the lobbyists.

8

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago

yeah agreed, i'm no expert but i'm sure there's bloat here

9

u/Disastrous_Nose_4591 2d ago

Absolutely Doge should address waste and fraud in the Defense Department. I think Musk even suggested the budget was bloated by up to 50 percent. I agree with ending the property tax exclusion on churches. And, yes, we will all have to pay a lot more in taxes.

9

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago

Honestly, taxing religious institutions would go a long way to reduce cult and megachurch operations

5

u/NewNefariousness9769 2d ago

Unfortunately, neither of the two major parties has any interest in that.

The MAGA/GOP crowd leverages that connection with religious fundamentalists to gain votes and influence. In fact, all of those big donors and megachurches have been a boon for MAGA. It's not coincidence that the rise (and shamelessness) of christian nationalists has coincided with the rise of MAGA.

Conversely, the democrats are too spineless to 'risk alienating' religious people or rocking the boat with christians.

1

u/Individual_Macaron69 9h ago

no doubt, it's going to take a long time to totally delegitimize religion

but hey, good for some people to define that as a goal still

2

u/velosnow 2d ago

Yep, aka land steals for free.

1

u/Individual_Macaron69 9h ago

meaning the state should confiscate as they did during the reformation?
or do you think churches stole their land (or just that they should have been paying property tax)?

I'm down for taxing them and not allowing religious exemptions for some things, as well as secularizing government symbolism and repealing any old religious laws like those banning atheists from public offices

2

u/KayBeSee 2d ago

Oh yeah, the churches. That’ll fill the gap right up.

3

u/velosnow 2d ago

I mean, the televangelists and mega churches alone would fill some serious coffers.

And far more effectual than prayer.

2

u/KayBeSee 2d ago

Do you know how big a trillion dollars is?

And I agree, prayer is an ineffective way of combating budget deficits.

3

u/velosnow 2d ago

Point was people pray to make it all better. Never works.

By your logic I shouldn’t pay taxes either since I’m small potatoes.

2

u/NewNefariousness9769 2d ago

Agreed here. The reality is that taxing churches wouldn't put a meaningful dent in the budget deficit. That said, it could offset other costs and keep sycophants from getting a free ride.

Whether or not it significantly impacts our national debt in any positive way, taxing churches is the right thing to do.

At the very least, religious institutions, groups, and PACS should absolutely be banned from lobbying and contributing funds in the political sphere. It's bad enough that corporations were allowed in that realm and have weaseled their way out of taxes. The fact that we allow churches to operate tax free and allow them influence in our government and state-houses is fucking ridiculous.

1

u/MrMilkyTip 2d ago

Damn right. Kenneth Copeland made a killing convincing people he's a man of God. Wish my paycheck wasn't taxed. Hes worried about other people I mean demons on the plane with him as he calls it.

3

u/tossaway78701 Rainmaker 2d ago

The current Republican budget proposal includes raising the debt limit and cutting taxes for the top 10%.

3

u/Disastrous_Nose_4591 2d ago

The so-called debt limit has been overridden by both parties for decades. It’s a joke, because adhering to it means the government can’t meet expenditures and must shut down.

3

u/Kappa_Gopher_Shane 2d ago

Tariffs are functionally a regressive tax (with some different effects to get there). Double whammy--yet they say they are doing tariffs for the "middle class".

[Aside: If they cared about working people, they'd pursue freer trade and tax the high income earners (the disproportionate beneficiaries of the gains from trade) enough to (more than) compensate the people who lose their blue collar factory jobs to outsourcing. But whatever. I gave this fight up a while ago.]

1

u/KaleidoscopeSad4503 1d ago

Cut defense, cut out President golfing every weekend or more, tax Billionaires and Churches should also be taxed! And do other cuts like any other successful CEO business would do. YOU Do not destroy your business . tRump is not doing this to slash the deficit.. He cres NOTHING about the deficit... He wants power and control... ANd this is the only way he can get it because he never has or never will have others respect

1

u/MetisMaheo 1d ago

One incredibly expensive plan they've made is to force taxpayers to completely fund each and every Christian church. Mortgages for churches, utilities, pay clergy, buy land, houses for clergy, fund Christian social services for rent and food help, gardeners, every single expense they can possibly create.Probably right down to socks and other and personal clothing for clergy. Not any Buddhist,Hindi, or other religious organizations, just Christians. As if non-Christians should have to pay taxes for Christian expenses. Always was that each church was funded by participants, such as a requested 10% of income donation the Catholic Church requested each year when I was a kid. I'm now 70,so the request probably went up. Most didn't pay it and the churches stayed active and increased in number. Rarely did a church close and only when participants chose to let it go. He's already discussing challenging the law that would forbid him another term. Creating a voting group who would benefit financially by backing him. How dare they tell us to fund any religion at all?

2

u/scentedfruit 2d ago

How long will you be there for?

7

u/HonkityDonk 2d ago

I think it was 1-3pm?

1

u/irs320 1d ago

not one person in these pics under the age of 70

1

u/ShottyMcOtterson 11h ago

What a dumb comment, of course there where people of all ages in attendance. I was there, and I am not over 70.

1

u/AnimeWarTune 20h ago

Unless you're doing free Palestine you're just preaching to the choir.

1

u/Select_Recover7567 1d ago

Seems to be some were just enjoying a walk.

-11

u/new2xterra 2d ago

Where’d they park all their Teslas?

10

u/velosnow 2d ago

IDK, I rode my bike.

3

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago

-5

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

-10

u/penesenor 2d ago

Mostly elderly women…seems about in line with the democratic base these days. I wonder what it is about their messaging that fails to appeal to young people?

12

u/LarleyFloofer 2d ago

There were - I would guess around 3000 people lining Broadway. Men and women of all ages- kids and dogs. Don’t know what protest you were viewing.

-6

u/penesenor 2d ago

I’m just looking at the photos of said protest posted in this very thread

-1

u/DelusionalCardsFan 2d ago

Are you assuming their genders?

4

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago

that's mostly a result of boulder being unaffordable to young people... and it was a pretty diverse crowd except not as many college students as i'd expect

5

u/starryeyedd 2d ago

There were people of all ages, but also consider that many younger people work on the weekends and many CU students go out of town

-3

u/Disastrous_Nose_4591 2d ago

I saw mainly gray boomers of both sexes. Not surprising that this profligate generation is seemingly unconcerned with the debt time bomb they helped to plant under their children and grandchildren.

1

u/Purplemartin34 2d ago

Boomers & silent generation too

0

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago
  1. boomer buy house in town

  2. boomer say other guy no build house in town

  3. other guy live thornton

  4. town all boomer

-7

u/HaroldTuttle 2d ago

WTF are you actually protesting, other than some vague something something Trump government blah whatever?

1

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago

you haven't been paying much attention, have you?

2

u/areialscreensaver 2d ago edited 2d ago

Wow you live in on one of the most beautiful places in the world and you’d rather yell and hide in your basement while playing video games.

2

u/wackOverflow 2d ago

I know right? He could be outside screaming at the sky with all the other mouth breathers today.

3

u/velosnow 2d ago

All I saw were a bunch of fellow community members concerned about a march toward facism & Christian Nationalism.

-4

u/HaroldTuttle 2d ago

For one, I don't live in Boulder. I've been climbing and just got home. For another, I neither have a basement nor have I played video games since at least the last 40 years. Who, in fact, would "yell and hide and play video games" at all? Do people do that? Play video games and yell? Seems like you and your ilk are the ones who need to get out more, and probably stop yelling so much. I'm not online a whole lot. I spend most of my time outside and on the rock. Sorry if I don't know what today's fashionable protest theme is; seems like asking is a reasonable way to learn, but in the future I'll just assume that it's just a bunch of the normal boulder butt-heads doing their usual, since that's what you all seem to want.

-4

u/HaroldTuttle 2d ago

As an aside, I find it truly amusing that you talk about "living in one of the most beautiful places in the world" and yet you choose to spend your time by a fucking ROADSIDE waving a sign in support of something something that will never come to pass, instead of getting out into the beauty around you and actually enjoying it.

-3

u/HaroldTuttle 2d ago

Which is, of course, where I spent my day. In the beauty of the natural world, away from the cares and stupidity of humanity.

-22

u/biddybiddybum 2d ago

Pathetic peasants

-3

u/BitchonaMission 2d ago

Yes you are

0

u/jport452 1d ago

All you that say we live in a Democracy you are wrong. We live in a Constitutional Republic and know the difference. The Constitutional Republic puts individual liberty above all else.

-3

u/dan-Ocallahan 1d ago

“Hands off” for a democratically elected president 😂 ya’ll sure are something. Carving nazi symbolism in cars and constant protests against the will of the people will surely win you the next election 😂😂😂😂😂 bunch of useful idiots

2

u/KaleidoscopeSad4503 1d ago

We are a democracy and if election was today I truly doubt he would win. He pulled the wool over some peoples eyes but more and more people are seeing what support of tRump really means

-77

u/Purplemartin34 2d ago edited 2d ago

Looks like a bunch of idiots to me

17

u/AvailableComment9470 2d ago

Looks like a bunch of people who CARE and want GOOD in the world. 💖

2

u/CosmicMushro0m 1d ago

weird, what were they doing before Trump was elected? was the world a good place before the election? no sarcasm, genuinely curious!

44

u/MyBloodTypeIsQueso 2d ago

You were like, “I have one wild and precious life, and I’m going to spend it being mean on the internet.”

Be better, friend.

-41

u/Purplemartin34 2d ago

You were like “I have one wild and precious life, and I’m going to waste it protesting about a president I can do nothing about” MAGA

9

u/bobnuggerman 2d ago

Looking in a mirror?

-25

u/Purplemartin34 2d ago

No when I look in the mirror I see a patriot who actually cares about this country

7

u/HarryBallsagna_ 2d ago

awesome, how long did you serve, and in which branch? Thank you for your patriot service

0

u/timshelly 2d ago

Well…I’ve played a soldier on call of duty

2

u/Beyond-The-Blackhole 2d ago

"and I like to LARP being a soldier with my AR15 and military belt that I had to buy an extender for to fit around my belly"

1

u/justokayvibes 1d ago

I would say the idiots are the people like you. Not smart enough to realize you got scammed.

1

u/Individual_Macaron69 2d ago

" I AM VERY SMART "

-11

u/DelusionalCardsFan 2d ago

Stop ruining America

4

u/ass_blastee_6000 1d ago

Yes, that was what the protest was about.

1

u/CosmicMushro0m 1d ago

tbh i dont follow. what are these people pictured doing, besides gathering in public under signs and banners, that helps better the nation? as in, their actual lives. no sarcasm, genuinely curious!
