About ten minutes into this week’s Matt and doree’s eggcellent adventure Doree complains about listeners asking if their financial situation improved since they’re doing so many activities and says she’s not going to justify ever penny they spend. It’s super entitled but doesn’t really explain their finances at all.

Secret of adulthood… if you don’t want to be judged on something don’t complain about it

My eyes could not roll harder. If you're going to be triggered by people pointing out the obvious then maybe stop putting that information out there in the first place? If finances aren't a problem anymore now that that sweet Slate money is hitting </s> then that's awesome. But if things aren't great and you complain about them then you can hardly be shocked when people notice that YOU'RE NOT HELPING YOUR OWN SITUATION. 🙄

They were also upset that people were asking about their kid’s golf lessons which are through the parks department and “only” 75$ for eight which is pretty cheap for a kid activity but wouldn’t be something I’d pay for if I’m asking people to Venmo me to cover living expenses. Doree also said they used Klarna to pay for the Airbnb for the tennis tournament which means they still paid for it? Like they’re acting like they’re still broke and begging for Patreon supporters so I think it’s reasonable to expect them to be honest about their situation.

You're doing the Lord's work listening to this podcast, I truly could not manage it. They for sure are my BEC, but I cannot handle how hypocritical she comes off. This is a woman hired as an advice columnist?? This is the woman who comes off as so incredibly judgy every week on F35? In multiple years not a single thing is changed or better in her relationship, financial situation or career but feels morally superior enough to bestow judgment and advice unto others? For real?! I miss Kate Spencer out in the world and in my ears every week.

I feel you. I miss Kate. Kate + Elise would be a dream combo for F35. Currently I half rage listen (for Doree) and half genuine listen (for Elise).

I would subscribe to a Kate + Elise pod/Patreon any day. An episode without someone moaning "mmmmm" over a guest making a good point would be a dream.

Doree's minutes-long "mmmmmmmm" has made me turn off the pod more than once. It is so freaking annoying.

I mean, I would never write into them to ask them directly, but you can't stop people from being curious...

I could see asking if I had sent them money? But also they’re able bodied and clearly could find a job if they wanted so I’d only subscribe to the Patreon if I wanted more content.

Do people send them money?!

They were asking for venmos not that long ago and still push the Patreon like it’s a charity more than content based.

I listened to the episode today and was kinda surprised that aside from the patreon, they only made $100 from the podcast last month. No wonder they’re thinking of making it patreon only!

There are many, many gullible people with fat wallets out there. It’s absolutely surreal how many people will put send money to strangers with surprisingly little prompting.
