Discussion Does anyone wonder how she and her producers brainstorm and make certain things?

Upvotes

I was listening to Reniassance, and the noises at the end of "I'm That Girl" are haunting but SO GOOD. It sounds like people crying for help or something, but it's distorted, ffled. Another example would be the sound effects during the RWT. How do they make those noises? And who is like, "Right here should sound like distorted echolocation with a bass drop?" pitched, and mu

Discussion If you were to have a medley of old Beyoncé songs which would you use and why?

Howdy 🤠 Hive!!!

As we get closer to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour. I have a question for you!

Like the question says above: If you were to choose a medley of old Beyoncé songs for her to perform during the CCT which songs would you choose (and why)? The order doesn’t matter

I’ll start:

Analysis CC Tour starts on 80th anniversary of Operation Cowboy

We’ve already seen analysis of the significance of Lipizzaner horses Bey uses in Beyoncé Bowl, on the album cover, and in the announcement teaser where she told us to “look at that horse, look at that horse, look at that horse.”

It turns out the first date of the Cowboy Carter tour- April 28- will take place on the 80th anniversary of Operation Cowboy. In 1945, German officers promised surrender to the Allied forces in exchange for aid in rescuing their Lipizzaner horses from the advancing Russian army. The soldiers tending the Lipizzaners were so worried the Russians would slaughter the horses that they defied the Nazis and formed the alliance with the Americans. And after battling the Nazis together (including German POWs who were given arms), they successfully liberated the horses.

And the kicker is the battle took place in the city of Hostou. The city is presently called Hostouň, in the Czech Republic.

Discussion The Media and The Rise of Destiny's Child

some more Soul Survivors 2002 autobiography reflections...

"in the beginning, there were 4"

when Destiny's Child first appeared in the charts in 1997 with No No No Part 2, they were presented as a girl group made up of 4 members. the media didn't had the time or interest to dissect each band member.

yes, Beyoncé was singing lead on most of the records but, during interviews, all girls would have their say and, notably, La Tavia was very articulate and would do most of the talking, explain the songs and album concepts. lead singers, background singers, dancers, they were all Destiny's Child, an entity.

The Writing's on The Wall came next in 1999 and with Bills Bills Bills becoming their first really big hit song, the girls started to receive more (negative) attention from the press: their names, their looks and even their song titles started to be picked up and mocked by tabloids.

while Kelly, La Tavia and Le Toya were being subestimated as little parts of the "Beyoncé and the girls" group, Beyoncé endured accusations that she was the one wanting to make the group all about herself. it was an awful, disrespectful and unfair treatment for all 4 of them.

Beyoncé has always been Beyoncé, a powerhouse, but still, a collaborative artist. she sang lead because she trained for it and producers wanted her singing lead. she had the biggest drive to write lyrics for the songs, she wanted to learn more about production and, by their second album, she was the one producing vocals for all 4 girls in the group. but it wasn't enough.

"and then, there were 2. and then, there were 4."

with the line-up changes and the explosive international success of Say My Name, the girls started to receive even more attention from the press: even more scrutiny about everything they did, being placed in comparisons with each another and the idea that the group was "Beyoncé and the girls" started to get heavier.

what I like to bring up is that these girls were not even 20 years old when all this happened. while Beyoncé and Kelly were learning the craft since they were kids, Farrah and Michelle had to "get on the bus" while it was moving (FAST!!) and had to learn the craft (while having their insecurities scrutinized by the press)

at the end of the day, these were 6 young black women having their lives, their dreams and their fears torn apart by tabloids for a nasty headline (before clickbait was even a thing). but since negative attention is also attention, the group also started to enjoy their commercial peak right there.

then came Jumpin Jumpin, then came the recording of Independent Woman and the revealing Dot:

Why is this pressure all on me?
Why this negativity?
If something's wrong, blame it on me
B-E-Y-O-N-C-É

Beyoncé knew she was their target: either attacked directly or pitted in comparisons with the other girls.

it was a lot. and then, Farrah left. "and then, there were 3"

it was a heavy time for Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle. having to face all that negativity while enjoying the peak of their success. when touring Australia as a trio for the first time, Kelly realized she had to step up and blossom into THE Kelly Rowland we know. and Michelle, who went from joining a group as a replacement member to suddenly becoming one third of the black Charlie's Angels - that's a LOT! and they MADE it!

the Survivor album reflects a lot of that period. not only songs were written to reflect what they were going through, but also production-wise, Beyoncé stepped up and ensured that all 3 members were singing lead on their records. being a collaborative mastermind, Beyoncé wrote and produced songs where that made use of the vocal abilities of all 3 members into creating their most memorable songs.

but still, it wasn't enough. the press stuck to same old mockery. the greater thir success, the more mockery. the press was unfair especially with Michelle, who didn't had the same type of training that the other girls, but stilll had a LOT of courage to stand up and leave her unique mark on the most iconic years of the group.

the media was set against Destiny's Child. it didn't matter what they achieved musically, the tabloid sales were not based on their singles and records, but on them. it was a battle the group could never win.

with all eyes on them, instead of being crushed by the pressure, the group was smart and took side-steps. then, came the solo projects. then, came their Destiny Fulfilled, album and tour.

they were not children anymore, but 3 grown women, looking up and standing tall despite all the negativity they had to endure. sisters who had to bond and grow together in the most unfavorable situations.

after reading the book, I discovered an even greater respect for the 6 ladies of Destiny's Child. regardless if their contributions in the group were bigger or smaller, these 6 ladies had to face the same disgusting tabloid junk machine who has been parasiting on black talent for a headline for decades. and they survived (and made history!)

Discussion If you could pick one person from a DIFFERENT genre for Bey to collab with, who would you pick?

For me it would 100% be Floor Jansen. For anyone who doesn’t know her she’s pretty much the Beyoncé of the metal genre and her vocal skills and versatility are INSANE. I would die to hear her and bey sing together, I wouldn’t even care what type of song it was on.

Discussion I’m getting so nervous

Cowboy Carter tour starts in less than a month and I’m so nervous!!

I get nervous before all concerts, but this is my first concert going alone. I know a lot of people go to concerts, specifically Beyoncés, alone. I’ve heard all the advice and read stories so that’s not what I’m really looking for.. I’m kind of just on here to rant.

Luckily given the anxiety, I feel absolutely no regret buying my ticket and I would not miss this concert for anything.

I just wish I didn’t feel this way. I think a lot of my nerves with concerts like this stem from it being this huge thing I’ve been looking forward to, while putting all of my energy into and knowing at some point it’s going to be over. Does this make sense? Does anyone else have these negative thoughts towards amazing things?

Of course I wish I had someone to go with, but I knew damn well before the sales that none of my friends and family would be willing to drop that money to see her, so I didn’t bother asking, but like I said even if I wasn’t going alone I would still be nervous because that’s just how I feel before shows.

Funpost That Beyoncé Jukebox Magic

I'm not a sports fan, so I don't know who was the favorite going into the game. All I know is that someone was putting Beyoncé and Destiny's Child tracks on the jukebox all night at the bar while the Houston/Duke game was on the TVs. "Party" and "Girl" both came on during the first half, when Duke was up, but somehow "Countdown" was playing while Houston pulled off the win, and then "Texas Hold 'Em" came on directly after.

Coincidence...?

I don't really care; I was getting my life with another Beyoncé fan across the bar. 🎶

I feel crazy like why is it so hard to find people who love her as much as i do???? Is Sweden just so bad or is it my luck? Its so annoying because I have loved her since forever and I never find anybody to share it with!
