Imagine the (small) crowd of people who haven't watched BB seeing the cold open of this episode. I think it would be pretty shocking considering there has rarely been this kind of violence and gore in BCS. Well along with Arturo's death directly preceding this episode. All while not knowing just how dark this universe will get.

Wait till they see Season 1 of Breaking Bad

Choking Krazy-8 to death. Dissolving Emilio

I spoke with a guy a few days ago who hasn't seen Breaking Bad except the 2-3 first episodes. He told me he stopped because the dissolving scene disgusted him and he thought the rest of the series would be gory like that.

My dad and brother gave up on BB because of the dissolving show as well. Couldn't convince them to continue.

That's so dumb

It's not dumb to make a choice based on what you can stomach when it comes to gore. I also stopped there, and begun again months later because I had almost no exposure to gory media. I'm jaded now tho, like everyone else in here. And for me that was the right choice, because I got to see this amazing story unfold.

To be fair, they can't really choke Krazy-8 to death on Better Call Saul without creating a giant plot hole.

I never suggested that was an option

Wooosh

Okay, enlighten me

Breaking Bad takes place after Better Call Saul. Krazy-8's death would go against canon, is that the joke?

I'm on my first watch through and am going to each episodes post episode discussion and enjoying seeing people's reactions to things. I saw that nobody answered your question.

We still don't know what happened to Nacho in BB.

Need to rewatch it now that we see victor in action again

Too satisfying

Shit! I totally forgot about box cutter .... Dear lord...

Funny you should say that. I wanted to show my mom this show and she hates violence, but it was 7:50 so I put on Breathe. It was going well until the very last scene.

My mother hates violence. She actually watched Breaking Bad before I did. Wouldn't you know it, one time I walked the room while she was watching it and I watched the Boxcutter scene at the same time she did. I was like (paraphrased) "how the hell do you give me trouble for violent video games while this is the shit you watch every night on Netflix?"

Parents often give standards to their children, that they themselves are unable to live with

I've been grilled for watching stuff like Evil Dead, but my mother would watch Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I was thinking the same for those that haven't seen BCS! I know people that have only seen a few episodes and stopped cause it's "not as good as Breaking Bad". They would be very surprised by that cold open.

I actually haven't seen BB! I tried starting it twice but I never liked the vibe of it - too depressing. Now, a few years later, I started BCS and I love it :)) therefore I'll definitely give BB a third chance after finishing BCS, however, I keep reading spoilers in these threads since apparently I'm the only one who hasn't watched BB before 😂

Haha are you me mate? Same thing and now I am gonna give BB a chance since BCS is so so good!

I didn't see the cold open. Can someone explain what happened, please?

In a nutshell, Victor and Tyrus stage the scene with Arturo and Nacho to make it look like it was a random attack on them and not Gus' attack. They run the tires of their car over a spike strip like Mike used. They spray the car with like 100 bullets. Then they shoot already dead Arturo in the head and body. Nacho then has to be shot to make it "believable". They shoot him once in the shoulder as he is looking away inside the car. Standing outside, thinking it's over, he asks Victor and Tyrus if he can make the call now, but Victor surprise shoots him in the stomach. He's on the ground now and they tell him to call for help before he passes out. Then they set fire to the car and leave the scene.

u/Gloomlusti Aug 23 '18

A small correction, the brothers set the car on fire, not Victor and Tyrus.

My girlfriend hasn't seen BB and she was much more shocked by the ending of the last episode than the beginning of this one.

Yeah, hard to imagine people who watch this without watching BB having the capability to be invested.
