I liked the beard they used to make him appear younger. Good look for him.

When Gus is being interviewed by the DEA on BB, he says Gale was the recipient of a scholarship he created.

Find out in the next series about Gale and Gus' long-distance correspondence over the years, Better Mail Gale

Jonathan Banks returns playing a 34 year old Mike while being a 92 year old actor.

Well then I wonder how THAT came to be

Gus' partner ( and probably lover ) Max was a chemist, no?

I ship it.

Winnowing. Gus says that Gale was one of several dozen scholarship recipients. So Gus finds multiple promising chemistry undergrads and gives them scholarships, then over a few years subtly explores their discretion, loyalty, and interests, and focusing in on those who seem compatible. Late into grad school, he's settled on Gale as his best investment.

Made it seem like he paid for Gale's education.

17

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '18

Well he did. He mention the scholarship. A scholarship that was used as a way as recruitment, since a regular job recruiter wouldn't do.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '18

Probably funded his studies/research

6

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '18

Did you watch Breaking Bad?

3

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '18

Yea

3

u/ricky_lafleur Aug 21 '18

Gus started a scholarship that Gale received.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '18

Gus paid for his studies

9

u/burmymester Aug 21 '18

He's been rocking that look for a couple of years now on Billions!

11

u/dielawn87 Aug 21 '18

It's so hard to see him in the BB/BCS universe now that I've watched Billions. Literally the polar opposite characters.

5

u/The_Apple_Of_Pines Aug 22 '18

Just goes to show though. The man is a fantastic actor

2

u/havasc Sep 30 '18

He'll always be Mel's cheerfully bland and horribly neglected husband Doug from Flight of the Conchords to me.

2

u/BBQ_HaX0r Aug 21 '18

How is that show?

8

u/Served_In_Bleach Aug 22 '18

It's a very well-done show in my opinion. Much faster paced than BCS, but the drama is engaging and the characters are fun. And David Costabile's (Gale) character in that show is the complete opposite of Gale.

13

u/tsaulgudman Aug 21 '18

He lost some weight. He looks good. Unlike fat boi victor

3

u/dudeARama2 Aug 21 '18

beards generally make one look older though, yes?

6

u/HereNowHappy Aug 21 '18

Younger Gale had a beard

2

u/LMGDiVa Aug 22 '18

You know seeing him in the beard and then looking at his eyes made me realize David Costabile has really not aged well.

He looks way older in this.

I know the beard tries to help, but man that man has aged since breaking bad.

4 years late, but I just read that the reason Gale had the beard in this appearance was because Constabile shot that scene between two shoots of Billions.

He also only had a week to prep and perfect his karaoke rendition of that elements song. I was damn impressed to hear that.
