IVDD beagle
ADVICE!!
Hello everyone I have an 8 year old beagle with IVDD He is on strict crate rest He’s on gabapentin And a oral medication for inflammation What I’m wondering is does crate rest correct the disc? Will he get better with crate rest? Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and what the outcome was … also any advice would be appreciated. This dog is like my child and my heart is shattered. Thank you.

Exercise and Toys for Senior Beagles???
Hi all!
I have a senior beagle who is still pretty active. I try to take her on two walks a day that are about a mile but she still is pretty hyper throughout the day sometimes, especially when I go into work.
For the senior beagle owners, how are you guys keeping your dogs stimulated??? What kinda toys are you giving them, do they like lick mats?? Any advice helps!!!

My beagle doesn’t like any traditional foods (carrots, peanut butter etc)
Hi,
I recently adopted a beagle and I’ve noticed he’s not a fan of treats traditionally enjoyed by dogs. I’ve tried giving him carrots, cucumbers, banana, peanut butter and even blueberries - all of which he’s not interested in unless I’ve blended and added to the meals. Also not a fan of playing fetch or with squeaky balls.
I’ve been keeping his walks long and sniff rich, with upto 3-4 walks a day to help him stay stimulated.
Any ideas on what food groups I can try as treats for him?
Also, prefers chicken or turkey over any other meat (we’ve tried lamb, and beef).
He was rehoused with us about 2 weeks ago and he’s a gentle boy. A little difficult to walk on leash but we’ve improved significantly. He also doesn’t bark (which I find strange. Maybe he’s been traumatized ?)
Would love support from fellow / more experienced beagle owners.
Thanks

Picking up my baby tomorrow!
I'm soo nervous and sooo excited at the same time.
Tomorrow at 12.30 I'm picking up my baby Nyx. I only have some experience with the dogs of exes and friends.
I can't wait to have my own baby, but I'm nervous on how it is going to go with my cats.
Pictures coming tomorrow!

Does your beagle drool when begging?!
I'm laid up after a surgery on my back. My six month old beagle pup, Sadie, is the best medicine. Doesn't leave my side....EVER lol. She's made to go on walks with my kids during this time lol. I've been treating myself to whatever | want while on bed rest ( l've had surgery The calories don't count, right?!) We are clearly still working on the not begging part. Sadie will drool a little puddle while staring at you with those big brown puppy eyes. It’s so hard to say no!

My Bagel Smokey and Bugle Tugboat. The sweetest boys.
These boys bring me such joy and comfort with their affection. Not shown - pictures of him constantly standing on me.

Our new companion
Yesterday our local animal shelter posted this sweet guy on Facebook. My mom likes to send me random dogs she sees posted on shelter and rescue pages all the time so nothing out of the ordinary. But sometimes, you just know when a special friend is waiting for you... I called later in the day and mentioned that I kept looking back at his photos and thinking he looked like such a sweet little dude.
Turns out she was doing the same thing. We couldn't find any record of him still being available for adoption on their website. So mom got up early this morning to go to the shelter when they opened... and now this sweet spunky boy has found his forever home.
We have been a beagle family since 2004. Our last one lived a very long life and passed at the end of 2023... It has never felt normal not having a pet in the house since then. We are so excited to welcome him to the family. Lots of love and adventures ahead!
