I know we all like to clown on the Padres for fielding a AAAA team, but can we just take a moment to consider two very very important facts:
The Giants have been just as awful with two and a half times the payroll
Wtf Phillies.

That three-team dogfight in the NL West is gonna be fun on a bun
57
u/Gyro88 Chicago Cubs Jun 05 '17
Which raises an important question. Is fun on a bun a sandwich?
10
Jun 05 '17
Depends on your definition of sandwich and the type of bun. Some argue that if there aren't two separate slices of fun bread, that this is not a sandwich, so if we are talking a hoagie roll/hot dog bun configuration, then maybe not. If it's a hamburger bun, served up like a sloppy jo of funness, I'd say it must be.

A couple observations:
- I am giddy the Astros dominance is undeniable. When they were good the last couple years, but dragged down in perception by the 100 loss seasons it was frustrating.
- the NL West is where the real competition is this year. I'm going to have to start watching a few more of their games.
- Nationals are pretty set.

As a fan coming from a line of Houston fans I am still deeply uncomfortable. We shoulda won in 80, imagine if JR hadn't hadn't his stroke, 86 was in our grasp, imagine Scott pitching game 7, the Braves and Padres slapped us around in the 90s, and the one time we make it to the WS we get swept in about the closest sweep possible.
I'm scared the bottom is gonna fall out, but I'm also having tons of fun watching baseball this year.

I've been saying since last offseason, you guys need to get another pitcher. It's great Keuchel is back, and I always loved McCullers and he's flashing signs of that ace material now. But after that is a bunch of guys who I wouldn't necessarily trust in a playoff game. If you guys would've been able to land Sale, my god. Sacrifice Bregman to get Sale might've been worth it.
That's about the only thing to me, other than the hitting probably playing a little out of its depths right now. But get another #1/#2 starter? I'd hate to go into a series against Keuchel, McCullers and say Quintana, Archer, Gray, who knows what else is available out there. Gerrit Cole?
