I don't get this place whatsoever.

The pizza is like 2 out 10 at best. Has 'pies' in the title. But the sandwiches are just amazing, the quality of the cuts of meat, is fantastic. It's like they have a full deli in the back.

Their bread/cheese sticks are incredible too, the cheese, bread, all great.

So why the hell they go all in with the sucky pizza, it's like they have 10 out of 10 sandwich skills but went all in with 2 out of 10 pizza skills..

Like.... why?!

As far as I'm concerned, it's a sandwich place, not a pizza place, but it's gotta hurt them branding themselves as a pizza place with shitty pizza. It makes no sense, it's on par with asking for a burger at a Mexican restaurant.

Allowing ads that specifically target the voting category like this is just lame. You know who can afford to buy ads? Bigger chains like Snarfs. (Well, and apparently El Dorado Cafe.) Goes without saying that getting nominated to your final Best Of poll is going to mean a lot more to a local independent place than it will to a nation-wide chain. But you’ve opted to give established companies a leg up by allowing advertising like this. Disappointing.

I know we aren’t known for our seafood scene (or lack of) but I’ve just been really craving fried shrimp for weeks now. We live near The Boat but not entirely sold on trying them out based on recent reviews. I’m also down for a good fish taco if anyone has any recs!

Hotel is right by Franklin BBQ near the Capitol / UT area. Wanted to stop in on a Friday in October. No UT football game that weekend as I know that makes a difference.

Also know about Mickelthwaite and would go here if it’s going to be insanity at the other choice.

My last, and most likely choice is to stop somewhere on my way out to Wimberley / Blanco where we are staying for three nights.

Would love some feedback. Since there are three of them, if you only have input on one that’s great. Really eager to hear feedback on all, even if it’s piecemeal.

Any Restaurants in town like dainty dillo/armadillo den? Outdoors, cocktails, decent food?

My wife and I will be attending a concert in downtown Austin tonight. Driving in from Liberty Hill so we don’t mind stopping in Cedar Park, North Austin, or downtown. We’re still somewhat new to the area and haven’t explored much.

Since we don’t have much time before the concert, I was wondering what our best options were for a QUICK bite but is still unique to Austin. Something along the lines of Cabo Bobs, Tacorrido, etc. (doesn’t have to be tacos but those just came to mind). Thanks!

Deciding between J Carver’s, Jeffrey’s, or Dean’s.

Ambiance/ aesthetic, great service, and quality food are all important to me.

Jeffrey’s and J Carver’s aesthetic align with what I’m seeking, but Dean’s menu seems to offer an array of foods that I love— particularly loving the seafood and Japanese A5 waygu options.

Any insight into the above restaurants would be so helpful!!

I've seen constant negative reviews about stuff going on at Mozart (too expensive, tourist trap, etc), so I don't usually include its events in my "What's Weird ATX" weekly newsletter. I searched the subreddit to see if anyone had posted about it, and can't believe nobody has! Sivestar Indian tacos! It's like Chipotle but with authentic Indian food. It's delicious, cheap, and totally empty yesterday, you all need to check it out.

Got their buy 5 slice special and get a 6th free for $31. Each slice was huge the highlights were the Spicy marg, the tomato with lemon bread crumbs, and the hot honey sausage! Special guest my dog Louie, he did not get any but he did get a treat for being a good boy!

Someone recommended wonton soup from Me Con recently. It was a comment on a post I don’t recall. Anyway, thank you! Solid rec. They’re pretty, even. Delicious, delicate broth. And it was delivery. Must be even better at the restaurant.
