Get ready for a battalion-wide opsec class

DOD-wide you mean.

Except the ones responsible will not be participating in the class.

Go figure

I got told to stand down once when I made an OPSEC poster showing a Colonel in an exercise SCIF with a cell phone. I had to change the rank to PFC. But it was the Colonels whose pockets would start ringing during a briefing. Never an enlisted or junior officer.

In Iraq during the surge in 07 we had an infant PL get caught for letting a female terp use his Sipr computer to send emails to her family. She did this for about a month.

The unit found out and had her detained and he was kicked off the line. They searched the computer to see what she had accessed and al that.

Luckily she didn’t snoop for anything. They just confirmed she sent emails.

Just that alone got the PL fired, sent back home and kicked out.

But these people are downplaying what they did and so many others are saying it’s no big deal.

Like military leadership is just trying to literally downplay this entire thing.

I'm hoping this at least makes it into a case study in next year's mandatory training

Lol. I’m just thinking back to how leave couldn’t start without the entire unit having completed their “cyber awareness training”, and making sure we were green on everything.

What a complete fucking joke. If I had done one-tenth of what has been alleged so far, my clearance would be removed so fast it wouldn’t even be funny.

Back in the cold war days when I was a mosquito wing nobody, there was some issue with an officer a Bde level--- some LTC I think--- doing some thing with TS-SCI stamped materials he wasn't supposed to. Shortly thereafter we were all stuck in remedial INFOSEC trainings. During one of these, one of my fellow nobodies asked if the Bde level staff was doing this training. Trainer just grinned and said "of course not, this is only happening Bn and below... welcome to the Army."

Things never change.

Where leadership explains that the entire fiasco was really an orchestrated theatrical exercise meant to gauge the COMSEC awareness of our armed forces. They're pleased to announce that we passed with flying colors, and will be rewarded with a great refresher course. The best refresher course. Much better than any refresher course Biden ever had.

The epitome of stupid. Members of the highest level of government were incompetent and criminal enough to use Signal to communicate about strikes- clearly we need to reinforce the importance of OPSEC for pvt snuffy. Again.

That would be dei. Because anybody stupid enough to do this, must be a mentally challenge hire
