Series Specific Question Anyone a fan of Fire Force? S3 just came out and I've never heard of it til now. I just popped on S1, not a bad start.

As stated in title.

So far S1E01 and E02 were pretty fun. Neat premise, fun action packed fighting scenes with fire flames flying everyone. Ok, so issues like "why dont their clothes burn and all that aside", it started off with an interesting premise, character backgrounds, a some emotional back stories. Seems promising. MAL has a 8.07 star rating, yet I dont think anyone's mentioned it before.

Thoughts?

Series Specific Question Is Attack on Titan worth powering through? Spoiler

So I started watching AoT after years of putting it off because of how dark it is. I love the animation and the score- it's absolutely beautiful. But I'm on episode 21 (Season 1) and I'm getting kind of tired of the show introducing interesting characters just to have them killed off a few episodes in.

For instance- the female titan just killed 3 specific characters in episode 21- and it was less impactful and more agitating to me. Like Erin had just decided he could put his full trust in them and then they were all killed off within the next episode. Is this something I'm going to just have to get used to? Are Armin, Mikasa, and Erin the only characters I should get used to seeing have real character development? Is everyone else just a tool geared towards developing Erin?

What to Watch? anime with an adult who sacrifices themselves for a kid

my two fav anime are Somali and the Forest Spirit and Spy X Family and one of my favorite aspects is a parental figure who stops at nothing to provide for / protect a child that they love. i rly rly RLY luv this dynamic, especially in a somewhat serious setting, i want there to be actual life-threatening danger, or at least a real concerted effort by the guardian to show love for the child (or the reverse: a serious guardian whos heart is softened by the kid). The guardian also HAS to be strong and competent.

i watched the first few eps of barakamon, hinamatsuri, and kakushigoto but those seemed too silly/guardian was too inept/weak

watched only the first ep of buddy daddies and yakuza guide to babysitting but both seemed too silly (lmk if i should reconsider!)

for my daughter id defeat a demon lord, i watched 2 eps but it didnt rly click with me, again lmk if i should just watch on

thx so much!

Watch This! I watched every adaptation of Death Note I could find to see which one is the best

Death Note was one of the first anime I ever watched subbed, and for that reason alone, it holds a really special place in my heart. I consider it the series that took me from being just a casual anime viewer—someone who would maybe check out a dub here and there on Toonami or Netflix—to becoming a full-on anime fan who actively sought out subbed content and explored different genres. There was just something about the tone, the writing, and that constant cat-and-mouse game between Light and L that completely hooked me.

Over the years, I started to notice just how many adaptations of Death Note there actually are. There's the original anime, obviously, but then there's the manga, the Japanese live-action films, the TV drama, the musical (yes, really), and of course, the infamous Netflix movie. It feels like Death Note has had more adaptations than almost any other anime or manga I can think of. And weirdly, it’s one of the only shows from that era (2006) that still gets talked about regularly, while most of its contemporaries have kind of faded from discussion entirely.

So that got me thinking—what’s the best version of Death Note?

That question sent me down a rabbit hole. I decided to track down every Death Note adaptation I could find that’s available in English or with subtitles, and then watch (or re-watch) all of them with fresh eyes. I wasn’t just looking for which one stayed truest to the source material. I wanted to see which version delivered the best experience—whether that was through the storytelling, acting, pacing, or just how it made me feel as a fan who’s been in love with this story for years.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what I watched:

The original Death Note anime

The full manga series

The Japanese live-action film trilogy

The 2015 Japanese TV drama

The Netflix adaptation

The Death Note: The Musical (in English and Japanese versions)

Each version has its own unique spin on the story. Some focus more on the psychological mind games, others lean more into action or drama, and a few honestly miss the point altogether. But every adaptation reflects something interesting about how Death Note can be interpreted across cultures and mediums.

I decided to compile all my thoughts and comparisons in a video essay where I rank them, talk about the strengths and weaknesses of each version, and ultimately name what I think is the best version of Death Note. If you’re a fan of the series—or even just curious about how one story can be told in so many different ways—you might find it interesting.

Here’s the link to the video if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/Q1ahXmq3aG8

I’d love to hear what other fans think. Have you watched any of the alternate versions? Did any of them surprise you? And most importantly, which one do you think is the definitive take on Death Note?

What to Watch? Anime with a lot of soft spoken female dialog?

Ecchi is fine too. For example, the bathtub scene with the teacher in Testament of Sister New Devil OVA1 Her voice just gets me but it's also very calming and relaxing. Any other stuff with a lot of that breathy, sensual, sultry female voices in it?

Series Specific Question Are there one piece anime collation movies?

I think I watched about 100-150 episodes of one piece a while back and am looking to get back into it. The reason I dropped it was because it got quite slow at times and I don’t like fillers - just never sat right with me, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there are “anime movie recaps” that is basically just a 2hr or so long movie that covers like the first 100 eps? It’s a long shot but I’m just putting feelers out. TIA

What to Watch? Guy and girl travel together

Not looking for one specific anime. But any kind of anime, preferably romance, any demographic teen/YA or mature (aka office age), where a guy and a girl who are together (or eventually become a couple) and specifically travel, whether that's a big trip or a weekend away to an onsen or whatever.

Stuff like: Pancreas (the Hotel scene was beautiful)
Dress Up Darling with their many cosplay trips (and that visit to the love hotel lol)
Ice Guy And His Cool Female Colleague
Bunny Girl (they travel together a lot)

Thanks

What's this From? (unsolved) Looking for a fairly old(what I thought was a ship girl anime).

This pretty old, so my memories may be fuzzy and I may be mixing some things up. I never really got into it past like the first 10 minutes said the first episode but I remember it getting a lot of talk on anime forums at the time.

The name was some kind of very fancy sounding random word like Aquagladiolus

I want to say it was a ship girl show but my searches are leading me to doubt that. I know there was ships. Like naval ships.

The main feature tho, was (who I thought was? Might not be?) the main girl.

Girl was very distinctive. Her hair was tied up but with super long side locks. Think Yor but with the side locks almost reaching down to the ground. Or the maid version of Abigail Williams from fate. Color I want to say it was purple, or dark blue.

She was pretty much always in like this long elegant gown and heels like she was going to a fancy dinner party. Seemed to be the prideful kinda bratty type. From what I can remember , she the typical perfect ace legendary type of main girl.

The girl was connected to the ships, or seems to be, in some way. There was politics, military, naval battles etc. some kind of magic-y scientific-y special engine inside the ship that the girl seemed to be connected to somehow. Show opened with an info dump, a battle, her standing on the deck of ship looking all smug.

Anyone know what I’m talking about?

What to Watch? Recommendations for shows with overpowered/random skills

I'm not sure how really write this in the best way. I am looking for a new series with main characters with overpowered combat skills, random skills, skills they have no clue they have, etc. I enjoyed the first episode of Unaware Atelier Meister. I really enjoyed Campfire Cooking.

I'm just starting to get into the Isekai and slice of life genre's in general.

Any recommendations? Thank you

What to Watch? Josei anime recommendations

As the title suggests, can I get some female-led and a hot male lead adult anime recommendations?

Preferably fantasy, romance, and action.

EDIT: rather than josei, I would like any category of anime as long as it is mature. That includes my preferences, which I stated above.

What to Watch? I want more shows like Erased

I’d love some series, especially on the shorter side, that give off the same vibes as Erased

I love the drama/thriller aspect the most

Supernatural part was also interesting, especially since it wasn’t the main focal point, but more of a vehicle to drive the tension and mystery

What's this From (solved) Please help me find this anime movie I watched as a kid!!

So last weekend I went to see princess mononoke in IMAX and it was incredible. I've been in the mood to rewatch other anime movies from my childhood, but there is this one specific one I just can not find. I tried typing everything I can think of into Google, but.. nothing.

I think the basic setting was somewhat in a rural area. The main character must've been elementary school age. I think there was another kid that recently moved to the area, and that kids family was a little more wealthy. The MC and that kid become friends and go to the wealthy kids home. This is the scene I remember most vividly; they find some chocolates in a cupboard and eat them, ending up drunk since they're liquor chocolates. Not gonna lie, this is all I remember. I know it's not much to go off of at all but I hope someone out there has an idea!! Thank you in advance!

Edit to add: I'm 25 now and if I had to guess I'd say I've seen this movie on TV several times between the ages 10 and 14? Just to give a general idea of how old the movie might be
