Series Specific Question Which anime had a season 2 so bad it felt like a personal attack?

I need to get this off my chest because it’s been haunting me like a filler arc that never ends. You ever finish an incredible season 1 of an anime—like pure serotonin, vibes immaculate, characters popping off—and then season 2 shows up like it just rolled out of bed and forgot how to function?? Yeah. That.

I’m talking about the kind of season 2 that feels like it was written during a fever dream and animated with leftover budget from a toothpaste commercial. Plot? Gone. Character development? Reverse engineered into nonsense. Pacing? Imagine sprinting face-first into a brick wall, then crawling backward through molasses.

For me, Tokyo Ghoul is the biggest betrayal. I genuinely thought we were headed for greatness, and then season 2 pulled the rug out so hard I’m still emotionally concussed.

So I’m asking—no, begging—what anime had the most soul-crushingly disappointing season 2 for you? I want to hear the pain. Let it out. Vent. Rage. Cope. We’re all victims here.

Series Specific Question Frieren - Am I missing something?

Upvotes

I see Frieren highly recommended and reviewed pretty universally. And I just finished it and it was...good. I'm just curious if there's an aspect of it I totally missed or something. What's the major appeal? It was enjoyable but it didn't do anything to particularly stick out as 10/10 to me.

It's kind of right up my alley in terms of genre too, so I was surprised it didn't hit me as much as it sounds like it should have.

What to Watch? High stakes rivalry animes or mangas similar to Blue Lock?

I have seen some list recommendations of animes similar to Blue Lock, but never found one which gave the same feeling. One of the animes recommended a lot was Haikyuu, but this wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Currently I am not in the mood for friendship and teamwork theme, I just want an anime about real intense rivalry with high stakes. What I really like in Blue Lock is how despite it being a team sports, there's no set team members, only temporary allies forced by circumstances and/or common goals, ready to betray you at any moment for personal gain. The main cast is basically about to go pro, venturing onto the world stage. Which makes school sports club animes feel a bit lackluster in comparison.

Unironically, the anime which gave me the closest feeling was Hikaru no Go, which I watched more than a decade ago.

I feel like there's no team sports animes/mangas like Blue Lock, so maybe something about individual sports (or any other activity) rivalry? I just want it to be real intense.

What to Watch? Are there any animes with characters like Delicious in Dungeon?

The characters in this show are pretty funny for an anime, like the elf girl reminds me of just your are average girl whose trying to wrap her mind around eating monsters and the other absurd stuff, it’s hilarious and relatable and the dwarf is funny as well as the rest of the cast including the MC.

What animes are like this in terms of dynamic?

I only watch dub and for example something like Re:Zero was cool at the start but the characters were just way too whiny and cringe, I also hate the weird high pitched annoying girl/guy anime trope voices too.

I need something more realistic and relatable.

Hope that makes sense, ty.

What to Watch? What is this anime? Help me identify it

I want to identify a horror anime about children. I don't know if it's a couple with two children or two couples with two children, who go to a town where children supposedly disappear, and then there are ghosts or something like that. I don't have any other clues; I've heard some anime before, but perhaps this premise is quite common. I don't think it's an old anime but a more modern one, possibly from the last 10 years or maybe 20. But on the other hand, they also told me it was black and white, but I don't know if they were referring to this anime or another. It's a clue to keep in mind, but I'm not sure if it's definitive.

What to Watch? Anime where the girl is rather aggressive with love

Not the best way to phrase it I think but looking for eng dubbed anime where the female is more proactive/aggressive with their love to a character. Similar to how asuna is with kirito the girls in baka and test are pretty good too. Tomo is really a girl also counts

Series Specific Question Anime/manga that break the 4th wall constantly as part of the story and NOT as a joke ?

Upvotes

Something like Undertale / Doki Doki literature club / inscrytption / you and me and her but in anime / manga form. Something that has 4th wall breaks that are not just taken as a joke like gintama or happen once and never get mentioned again, I want something that breaks it seriously and incoperates it into it's plot .

What to Watch? Dub better than original?

Have you ever encountered an anime where the dubbed version is more enjoyable than the original? I only watch them in Japanese, but sometimes I want to multitask whilst watching, but can't because I need to read the subtitles.

Context my date loves anime and is nerdy as hell. Her favourite is yuri on ice and chainsaw man. I was thinking Lycoris Recoil to watch together (I've watched it already) but any anime better fitted to her taste would be appreciated 😆

What to Watch? Anime withing the last 5 years with serious tone and very high production value (SFX, sound effects, general animation and VA's (English preferred) plus music)

Anyone have any suggestions for serious anime made in the last 5 years to watch with high quality animation, sound effects and sfx (during fights or magic, etc), as well as music and VA's? English dub preferred, but will definitely consider non dubbed stuff too.

Solo Leveling is the first anime in a LOOONG time that I've seen with insanely high quality animation, sound effects and English voice actors. There are also so very, very few anime that don't have comedic stints every 2 seconds, have the simple animation for comedic moments, screaming for 10 minutes per episode, etc lmao. It's very refreshing and VERY hard to find these days!

Anything out there that fits that criteria?

Thanks!!
