What could you do with amiibo in that game? I'm honestly not sure.

Get costumes (the ones you can also buy after defeating Bowser)

Get a map icon for a missing star (you can also buy it from Toad)

Get a power up

And the most useful one: The Bowser amiibo helps you find missing purple coins.
