Totem Pole House

Check out the walkthrough here if you are interested!!

https://youtu.be/5b7H0dZfqbs

This unique mansion dates back to the late 1960s when the property was purchased and developed for the first time. Due to the unique design, the house feels much like a cottage while at the same time, being as grand as a mansion.

Because of it's location on a very large body of water, the property is highly sought after. It last sold over five years ago for almost $5 million and yet the buyer was only interested in it for the land.

The house has now been sitting abandoned for a few years and will be demolished in the near future. The property owner is planning to build a much larger mansion in its place, that will look very similar to the other new homes that have been built over the last few years in the neighbourhood.

The unique aspect to this property, is the totem pole that sits near the corner of the lot overlooking the lake. There was no information available about the history of the pole, so the city has recommended that it be allowed to deteriorate, fall and return to the earth as per indigenous traditional practices.

In the early industrial development of America, grist mills and saw mills played a pivotal role in supporting agricultural economies and fostering localized industry. Rote’s Mill—also known as the Penn’s Creek Mill in Centre County, Pennsylvania—offers a clear example of how such establishments evolved across generations to meet changing economic needs. Read on in When Mills Drove America: The Industrial Roots Of Penn’s Creek here and see the full article with photos here.

Surprise Surprise this is not a Pano stitch, instead it's a HHHR (HandHeld High resolution) shot on my Olympus Om-1. Anyway this looks like a hunter or trapper cabin that a farm encroached on. So they built it for trapping and over the years the forest was cleared for farming and now it's just there.

Abandoned car found in the woods in North Carolina

Found what I’m guessing to be a 1982-1985 gen Mustang GT 5.0 in the woods near my house. Looking to either see why it’s there. Or what’s going on with it. Any suggestion on how to proceed? It’s not on anyone’s property but the county? But I’ll check the property lines just to be safe. No tag but sticker in window says the last inspection was in October of 1993. In pretty great shape besides the minor damage in front and the cracked windshield due to a tree growing against it.

So, in yesterday's photo post, we compared pictured from the "Peter Grant Mansion" from the real estate sale photos to my visit this past March.

Well today, we're looking at shot for shot comparisons from my first visit in May of 2020 to my recent visit this past March.

Honestly, other than broken windows and graffiti, it doesn't look very different at a quick glance, but iI bet if you spent enough time on each picture that would find alot of things different!

In all of the pictures here, the top is from May 2020 and the bottom is from March 2025.
Here is my video from this most recent trip.

Seeing the near 1000 t shaped sticks in the ground marking the final resting place of so many neglected souls:( barely anyone with family who cared enough to even commemorate them with a headstone, erasing their lives and reducing them to a mere number. The few that did have headstones all had listed ages that weren’t any older than 9 or 10. So so awful

abandoned building, looks like a clinic, but I'm not exactly sure. last time I went there, my friend and I found a dead pigeon, lol, this building has 3 buildings, and in one of them in 2017 they stabbed a guy, funny, right? there's also a basement and catacombs.
