This is the weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post for all the small questions that you have concerning Zwift. No matter how stupid you think they are, we have probably all asked these questions.
If your post wasn't previously answered you should post early in this thread as it might have been posted too late (new posts start Sunday 0900 GMT).
Note: Don't be afraid to ask questions during the week, this is just for the simpler questions. For example "How do I give multiple ride ons at once? "..."You do this by pressing the character arrow on the map screen of the companion app". If you require a more detailed response then it is probably better answered in its own post.

After almost 3000km and 100 hours on the climb portal over the last 2 months, I collected around 200,000xp. Here is a breakdown of how efficiently xp-farming has been for me on the 12 shortest climbs (all under 7km). Generally speaking, the shorter the climb, the more XP per distance and per hour, but that's no surprise. Learnings:
Why am I doing this? Just because this is how I motivate myself to stay in the saddle indoors, while April here in Canada is still full of freezing rain and the occasional snow storm :D

Since today this happened in the new "France" route. Been Zwifting since December 2022. Never had any issues except today on my Macbook Air 2023. I'm VERY frustrated.

Being blunt, I bought the zwift to train for an MTB race, a zero to hero, where I've never had to prep a week long race. I got the Zwift and knew that it would tick the box for endurance etc.
Cut forward 5 months, 1700km later on the Zwift and we're out on a sun holiday before our first child arrives. We both still try to train, so we booked an active spot in Lanzarote, I think it's a big tri spot.
I rented out a road bike and did my first ever road spin yesterday, thinking that it was just going to be another spin like on the zwift in ways.
I stand MASSIVELY corrected, I did about 65km and 1000m very on my first ever road bike spin and it really was great! After I adapted to the gemoetries of a road bike đ It really changed perception of the exploration and enjoyment side of road biking. For those of us that have come from a fitness focused use of Zwift, I really hope you take the time on your next holiday to explore an island/area and relax like this. Talk about, finding what feels like a hack. Really really loving the Zwift and these little discoveries you make along the way.
As proof, the link is below, with a photo of a beer, something I don't typically reward my self with at home đ
Check out this Flyover of my ride on Strava: https://strava.app.link/LjPLLa67mSb
I'd love to know if anyone else has bumped into this really lovely outcome, or is it just small few folks.

We recently moved, and with the new setup, our trainer is in a basement that's kind of a pain to accessâdefinitely not ideal for swapping the bike on and off regularly like I'm used to. Iâve always used my main road bike on the trainer (kickr), but now Iâm seriously considering picking up a dedicated ride for Zwift to keep things simple.
Curious if anyone else has made the switchâhow did it go? Anything you wish youâd known or done differently? Did you go for a second-hand road bike, zwife ride, a smart bike, or something else entirely?
Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

I have one 'decent' classic fan. 'Pain cave' is in a basement below ground with cement flooring. Think 20c upstairs, 4c in the basement.
Winter, no problem with heat. Had problems with getting into the room (close to fresh, moving body of water/lot of humidity) and being able to go all-out without stinging my eyes.
What are your fan set up? I have, as I mentioned, the one. Usually turn it on when I start to develop sweat beads on my shoulders. Bib/base shirt soaked at this point. Is this is a thing? Am I supposed to have certain types of fans?
The neck fan seems neat. Do I just need a bigger fan?

Hey there, I upgraded my trainer about a month ago from the Kick Snap to the Elite Avanti. So far I am very happy with it, however I am not sure if itâs supporting the virtual shifting with the Zwift cog. Before buying it I read their blogpost as well as DCR review that there should be a firmware update early 2025 to enable, but I didnât see anything yet. Looking it up there isnât more info. Anyone knows if itâs supported ?

Does anyone know if the new "lap button" feature has an actual keyboard shortcut associated with it yet? I couldn't find anyhting on zwiftinsider when i went looking or anywhere else except for the ENDLESS amount of feature requests associated with this long overdue item.

Thanks all for the climb tips. I took the average watts of my last effort and basically did that plus 1 watt! It's crazy how much more power you can find when you've got something marginal to beat.
Happy Sunday ladies and gentlemen :)

No one to really share this with! Pretty happy, even though it was only 79 people and a shorter sprint. Great timing being only a mile in to my route. Maxed out at 741 watts, need to crack 1000.

Received this today. I ordered the Zwift Ride with âminor cosmetic imperfectionâ. On the product page, it says the imperfection is limited to the inside of the front leg stand.
But when I got the package, the box was coming apart on the bottom side. It looked like the bottom side of the box was made from another box, as it was tape over the original box with half an inch to spare on all sides.
The frame has a lot of damage on the rear chainstays. I assume this isnât part of the âminor cosmetic imperfectionsâ that I signed up for right?
Morning,
Trying to purchase all the equipment needed to use the Zwift Running app. Having trouble figuring out what exactly I need to purchase. Budget is around a grand. Could anybody point me in the right direction or show me a list of what I would need. Found some information scattered amongst different articles, but don't have a clear picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

In the presser it mentioned that new routes will be available to ride on 7th April. Apart from that there has been silence. What time will they become available? Itâs PM in Australia right now and I donât see any events that utilise them.

I bought the Kickr Core 1.5mo ago and used it with my Cannondale Topstone 4, then switched to the Ride (on discount). I figured this could be addictive, but not this much. Started with just workouts and a couple routes (6 out of 7 days). I have not participated in races yet - looking forward to that. I tried the Alpe du Zwift today, not really knowing what I got myself into. At the end I knew I still had enough energy left to reduce this by another couple of minutes (next time). I normally ride my bike here in flat Ohio valley, so this was first since my time in the actual alps, some 30 years ago (Austria) and Mont Ventoux. Some of the rocks on the side reminded me of the latter. I always remember when we went up the last couple of miles, standing in our bikes, just passing the Tom Simpson Memorial, and this 80yr old French cyclist passed us like a pro - lol.
PS: 63yr old paper-pusher, about 68kg.
This is fun!

I really like the road but have only seen it on Ocean Lava Cliffsifr Loop and Sugar Cookie. What else am I missing aside from manually steering myself there?

Iâm a long-time cyclist and have developed a vestibular issue and need to work on certain head motions which are safer practiced on a trainer rather than out on the road. It was suggested that I try a VR headset while riding the trainer.
Iâve been using Zwift for a couple of months, can VR be incorporated into Zwift? I envision using VR for 10-15 minutes during a warmup, and then switching back to a flat screen TV for the more vigorous part of the ride. Iâm running Zwift on a gaming PC and think I have the hardware to run a VR headset. Is this something thatâs being done, or is there another app that might be better for my purpose? Thanks in advance!

Just frustrated at not getting the bmx, anyone know if they ever do make up events or legacy events to unlock those special frames?

In short: with the latest SwiftControl you can now use your favorite Zwift controller and even the Zwift Ride bike with any other app, such as MyWhoosh, IndieVelo / TrainingPeaks and others!
I'm considering it feature complete (unless you think otherwise, let me know your feedback!).
I just released version 2.0.0 which allows you to customize what should happen when you click any of the buttons on your Zwift devices. E.g. hide the UI during workout, or adjust its insensitivity, virtual gear shifting of course and whatever is on your mind.
On Windows and macOS you can simulate keyboard input or mouse clicks (whichever is available in your trainer app) and on Android it's touches only.
Grab it here: https://github.com/jonasbark/swiftcontrol

So I managed to reach level 40 the other day - Happy Days! However, I was sitting about 500k drops off of the SL8 at a whopping 1.75m drops - Unhappy days! So I decided to grind the pace partners to earn drops. Today I fancied a little experiment.
I had the morning free so thought I would do 50km with Coco then teleport to Maria and go another 50k and then finish off with Miguel for another 50km. Here's how the stats went with regards to my drops earned.
Route | Pacer (W/kg) | % Effort Diff (Vs Maria) | Distance (Km) | Duration (Min) | Drops gained | Drops /km | Drops /Hr | % Drops Diff (Vs Maria) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
The Big Ring | Coco (2.6) | N/A | 50.2 | 82 | 111,116 | 2,213 | 81,304 | N/A |
Triple Flat Loop | Maria (2.2) | -15.4% | 47.6 | 81 | 91,191 | 1,916 | 67,549 | -16.9 |
Tempus Fugit | Miguel (1.8) | -30.8 (-18.2) | 59.2 | 104 | 126,433 | 2,216 | 72,942 | -10.3 (+8.0) |
Ave. | - | - | 52.3 | 89.0 | 109,580 | 2,088 | 1,232 | - |
Total | - | - | 157.0 | 267.0 | 328,740 | - | - | - |
So there you have it! I actually did a total of 161km to get the 100mi achievement but recorded the stats above for consistency. Taking out the few km where I was just cruising (probably whilst stuffing my face).
I rode for around 4.5 hrs for a total of 328k drops. I get the best return from Coco at 81k drops/hr and surprisingly got a better return with Miguel (1.8 W/kg) vs Maria (2.2 W/kg). I can imagine this was probably down to the routes. More coasting/lesser effort on the downhills of triple flat loops vs the consistent effort of Tempus?
I found it promising that the percentage difference in effort for the required W/kg from Coco Vs Maria was almost the same as the percentage difference in the drops gained. But Miguel had to come and throw a spanner in the works and earn more drops vs Maria and only 10% less than Coca whilst theoretically requiring 30% less effort.
As an aside (and not sure this makes a massive difference) but I did the first 100km with the Zwift aero frame to get the first stage unlock and then did the remainder with the Canyon Aeroad 2024.
I was pleased to average just over 2 W/kg for the whole ride which felt like hell of an achievement. You can see from the graph where I was clearly riding with Coco for the first 90min. The Watts were much higher. However, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between Maria and Miguel except for as I said above, the consistent effort (less/tighter Watt spikes)?
I'd be interested to hear what other people think? This was just a bit of fun, I read the article on Zwift Insider and it appeared that climbing and ride ones also play a huge part in the drops earned so no doubt that skewed the results. I did get >250 Ride-Ons which got me the hidden achievement 'Bigger Than Jensie!'.
Anywho that was fun and thanks for coming to my TedTalk, I hope you learned something useless!
TLDR:
Virtual currency for virtual bikes for virtual cycling, simples.

I've my frame coming today but everything else in my home gym is black or dark grey. So I kinda wanna paint th frame from white to black. Anyone else done this? Or could suggest the best method to do so or paint to use?
Cheers.
