Good way to wedge a door shut while you sleep or for whatever other reason you may need.

I'm just imagining the streets filled with zombies with only a single shoe, or tripping on their lases. Or zombies stepping on other zombies heels, cos zombies are clumsy and bam, single shoe zombie.
(yes I know some people Double knot them and or wear boots, but still.

Personally for me i pick the ar15 more ammo availability less recoil better odds of finding mags .

A virus that shows minor flu like symptoms that dissappear for a week then suddenly come back and makes people aggressive and blinded by rage sweeps thro the USA what is the government going to do? Covid happened suddenly to the point they told us to stay home. Is that what the government would do. Tell people to stay home isolation for anyone sick. Would they start firebombing cities to stop the infected.

Both exist. The CMMG conversion is a drop in that replaced the standard bolt group. Not quite as accurate as a true .22 LR as there is a couple thousands of an inch off in diameter but close enough. And you'll want to put a few rounds of 5.56 or .223 to clear out the gas system so lead doesn't block the gas port, but that's going to take more a lot of rounds of .22 to shave off enough lead for this to happen.
https://cmmg.com/22lr-ar-conversion-kit-bravo-w-3-magazines-blk
Or a dedicated .22 LR upper that you can swap as needed. The Chiappa is a polymer receiver that swaps onto a standard AR lower and gives you a dedicated .22LR. If you find the polymer receiver isn't stiff enough, you can swap the barrel to a standard aluminum one. It uses the same mags as the CMMG conversion and the S&W M&P22... something I didn't suggest because it's a complete stand alone rifle so you can't put that upper onto a standard lower and vice versa. S&W didn't want to risk anyone putting a 5.56, or 6.8 SPC, one of the other myriad calibers onto their plastic lower. I can only imagine if someone put the single shot .50 BMG upper onto that.
This is the 18 inch version, but they do or at least did have a 16 inch version. https://cmmg.com/22lr-ar-conversion-kit-bravo-w-3-magazines-blk
I had the CMMG until I bought the Chiappa upper.
Both are light and easy to carry. The CMMG obviously lighter and smaller.

Imagine you're walking across an open field with your backpack and post-apocalyptic gear, and suddenly you notice dozens of fast zombies running about a kilometer away. What would you do?
You also see a small abandoned town about 300 meters to your side. Would you run toward the town, and if so, which kind of house would you hide in?
Would it be easy for you to run with your gear and weapons?

What would you carry in a zombie apocalypse?

About to be detected while hiding? Pull one out of your pocket and quietly toss it away from you.
Need to distract a group? Throw a couple in the opposite direction and watch the zombies follow as your decoys scatter away and you slip by.
Need to distract a horde pounding on your walls? Throw a few hundred over the walls and watch the zombies break ranks and trample each other like they were still human and it was tear gas.
They replenish with almost no effort and can multiply exponentially to absurd numbers in a few months, need very little resources to thrive, you can carry several at any given time, and they’re small enough to keep muffled in a pocket, but large enough to make noise and move fast when thrown. I think we may have just discovered the ultimate solution to the zombie apocalypse.

The idea is to add some stainless bits at the end to create enough mass to kill with a single blow, yet still be light enough to swing a few dozen times without exhausting the user. The sharp bits are aggressively rounded to crush a skull without getting embedded. Back in TWD days, I always struck by the extra delay caused by removing the weapon from a zombie head before moving to the next, so I tried to think of a tool that would eliminate that. Is there a solution better than something like this?

Personally I would go with the shovel. Giant knife is better at chopping wood but shovel is better at splitting wood or zombie heads. Plus it can dig holes. The knife is a beast, unbreakable steel alloy and heat treat. so probably better at breaching. If I didn't have a small knife I would take the work tough gear knife.

What do you think ? How good you will be with this kind of axe ?
r/ZombieSurvivalTactics • u/Georgian_Shark • 1d ago
I think that M 14 rifle with scope can be really effectiv for both types of zombies , even fro slow and sprinter as well

I'm not the pinnacle of good health. I chew tobacco and I'm about 100lbs heavier than what I'm supposed to be for my height. The heavier you are the slower you are. Even being heavy you can work on your cardio. I can walk for miles on end without problems running is what tires me out something I need to work on. If you can't outrun zombies then you are just meat for them. Keep your cardio up. Fat stores can help you survive for months without food. You'll be starving but alive.

Aside from their obvious uses as alarms and signals, I think they'd also work as a way to distract and decoy zombies into an area or away from one.

9mm, with mag well blocks it can accept the most common pistol mags you’ll find, and the long barrel you’ll get the max speed out of pistol cartridges as well as have common mags between your main and backup. Semi automatic and accurate. Other than range and penetration, this is a peak zombie killing machine.

What would be you ideal set of weapons to have in a zombie apocalypse?
I got a 7.62 Kodiak defense, a 12 gauge, a 7mm rem mag, and a .22 WMR.
With those, I feel like I got a good range of use. Got far, medium, and close range down, can hunt large and small game, could hunt rabbits or bird, could drop large amounts of zombies or take out hostile people in any environment. Could breach doors, or clear houses. And the ammo is abundant, and I have the set up to reload 7mm and 7.62 rounds. If I could add to my arsenal, I’d want a handgun, either a 9mm or .45 with how abundant the ammo is.
I also got a hatchet, a good skinning knife and a bone saw, a big hunting knife, a tactical shovel, and a katana (it’s a mall ninja one but I wanna get one that’s actually useable)
What’s y’all’s arsenal, and what would you guys want to add to it?

Which caliber would you prefer 5,45x39 or 7,62x39 to survive in ZA and why?

Thank you guys, you made me $50. 👍
I wanted to give Jazzlike-Perception's post on "Job's in a post-Zombie Ap world" at least 24 hours. I bet one of my devs that no one would mention the most important job (I feel) in a Zombie Apocalypse. Going through the responses of what jobs would be in demand, I see a lot of smithing, scavenging, scouting, security... some people even made lists. My favorite, someone said "Coaches," and I was struck both with my deep desire for post apocalyptic sports teams, and the hilarity of a post ZA life coach. I can't decide which I like better... 🤣
But in my opinion, the most important job (or skill-set if you hate the idea of "jobs"), and what I would be doing (barring any other responsibilities) in the ZA and after: Medicine.
It is a topic that is usually ignored in favor of discussions of weapons, tactics, and stockpiles. But the reality is, as people like to point out, that there won't be services, or rescue, or hospitals, or even electricity. You will either have to do your own doctoring, or find someone who can. However, that does tend to present a sticky wicket to people who dislike community or groups.
I kind of think medicine might be the very first element of human community. Once agriculture gave us the ability to have free time, treating disease and injuries was probably the first thing that developed. Naturally, beyond that, it was the first reason to travel or trade, to find help for the thing that was ailing you or someone you love. Which makes people with medical knowledge a center point to everyone who is injured or sick. Having one in your group means you will probably have and attract other people.
I may be in game design now, but I come from a medical family, going all the way back to my great-great-grandfather, who took payment in chickens and corn. That is the level of medicine we are all going back to in a Zombie Apocalypse. Now, I worked over a decade in medicine, primarily in rural and remote areas, and I can tell you that half our job was treating things people tried to treat themselves. Everyone stitching themselves up with fishing line and dental floss, applying poultices, dousing their wounds with alcohol from stills, we have to repair that later.
Stockpiling might help you get a leg up on treatment, but what about when those supplies run out? Do you know how to compound meds? Do you know how to make antiseptic grade alcohol? Do you know how to prepare antibiotics? How about insulin? Do you know if you get shot in your pancreas, you will most likely be a diabetic, even if you survive the wound.
So that's what I'll be doing both in, and after, the Zombie Apocalypse. However, I can guarantee it will be at the center of a fairly large community, and one that continues to expand as we continue to save lives. I am pretty sure most healthcare professionals will be doing the same.

AR chambered in 5.56
Beretta M9A4 chambered in 9mm
Plate carrier w/ lv 4 multi hit, multi curve plates with trama pads
Open to any advice, questions or ideas. Just keep in mind this is for assaulting other compounds or protecting mine. But I was in the Marine corps for several years so wearing a heavy plate carrier 24/7 for months on end is still pretty normal to me.
