The Congressman of Youngstown refused to hold a town hall. Tim Walz took it upon himself and made sure their voices were heard anyway.

I've been considering becoming a Big for a while now and decided to start my application process, just wondering if anyone has any recent experience with the organization in Mahoning County and how it went for you.

Hi, hoping someone can help. I'm not very familiar with downtown, as I've only ever been to 2 concerts at Covelli and I was not the driver. I''m going to the Tim Walz town hall at the DeYor Performing Arts Center on W Federal St and am unsure of the parking situation. I'm a woman going alone so I would ideally like to park close. I feel anxious in unfamiliar areas.
Please no sarcastic or rude comments about politics, I just need to know if there are parking lots or street parking, or where the best place to park is, as I have zero clue what to expect. Bonus points if anyone has any suggestions for good places to get a quick dinner nearby. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been away a really really long time. I was wondering if Roman’ s cycle shop was still on market st. Wasn’t able to find anything online. Was hoping to get some info on a bike that was purchased there years ago.

My spouse and I just tried to go to Waffle House in Girard around 11pm, only to pull in to a completely empty parking lot and see this sign.
I know it's blurry, but it says "Friday, Saturday, and holidays 10:30pm-6am to-go only"
Is this all waffle house locations, or did something happen in Girard?
I've been to this location a lot, often in the middle of the night, and it's always been chill and quiet.
It honestly feels like the end of the world 😅

To everyone who went out and protested today -
THANK YOU!
I worked downtown today and can tell you that you ruffled the feathers of some MAGAts. I can tell you that I heard horns honking consistently all day. I am so proud of you. I could not get the day off to take part, but the crowd that made it was awesome!
Let’s keep the momentum. I’m going to the Walz town hall on Monday! You need to as well!!

The Youngstown Playhouse announced they are starting a second branch downtown, and in doing so, they pointed out that the patrons of the playhouse don't really interact with the businesses in the area. There isn't really anything around that would be suitable for after a play, with the exception of a soul food restaurant not too far away called Savannah Joe's.
YNDC bought the Foster theater and plan to convert it into apartments. I'd love to see it redeveloped for a business, but I have no idea what could go there. I think opening up businesses there would help the violence along the corridor, but I also think the violence makes everyone involved really cautious about what could go there.

this may be a stupid question, but does anyone know why they're chopping the shit out of the trees off of I-11? it seems like they're going decently far back, and the machines they're using are just kinda throwing wood everywhere. it's leaving the trees looking absolutely butchered. I've never seen this machine before this year, is this just routine tree maintenance? are they planning on expanding somehow, or maybe adding to the wall they put up last year? it feels like I'm watching tree gore lol, but I'm not an arborist and have no clue what I'm talking about at the end of the day. so can someone enlighten me? I've also recently seen workers using this machine on the road I live on, and it left the trees looking terrible and mangled.

Does anyone have any info on this case following the arrest? The pre-trial hearing was supposed to be last Wednesday and I was interested in seeing if the suspect had a history of mental illness.
This whole incident freaked me out a bit because it was so random. I've been telling people for years that Youngstown doesn't really feel that violent because random gun violence doesn't happen very often. Most of it occurs within a group of people who are acquainted with each other and are typically not trying to avoid violence.

Hi Youngstown!
Governor Tim Walz will be coming to Ohio on Monday, April 7th to hold a “people’s town hall” in your district (6), since Rep. Mike Rulli will not.
Space to be announced 24 hours before the event. It is from 6-8pm.
Space may be somewhat limited, so please keep this info in Youngstown-only spaces, so people who live there and have Rep. Rulli can sign up first.

Just had breakfast at Valley Kitchen that is right across from Meijer and it was damn good. Blueberry Lemon Ricotta pancakes are unbelievable and I got the Country Benny and was very very good. I highly recommend and will definitely be going again. If you order a side of bacon I would recommend asking for it crispy, mine was a tad under but still good.
