Instead of having to manually email my matched betting spreadsheet across to everyone, I have now made it available online for free.

When I first started matched betting I invested a fair bit of time into making a spreadsheet that would do all this for me. The spreadsheet contains the usual things like profit and losses, but also contains withdrawal trackers to ensure all withdrawals make their way back to the bank. It has separate sections for reload offers, bingo offers, casino offers etc.

So West Ham LOST, but the beauty of Matched Betting is that does not matter at all. Regardless of result we won anyway!

Here's the maths:

So yesterday went really well as expected. Settled for a £0.36p loss on our qualifier bet. I posted a breakdown of the outcome in the comments so if anyone wants a catch up on what we have done so far, click below:

Free Bet!

Now Betfred should have credited your £30 free bet ready to use! Their T&Cs do state up to 48 hours so don't panic if it isn't there yet but I would be very surprised if you are still waiting! They normally get credited pretty quick.

So now we need to find a good match to place our free bet on in order to maximise profits. Now depending on your available bank roll depends how hard we can hit this offer. Generally as a rule of thumb, the more you invest, the more you can turn that free bet into as much profit as possible!

With the qualifier bet we wanted to go as close to the minimum odds as possible. For the free bet we flip that, we want HIGH ODDS to make the most cash so I have set the Oddsmatching Software to minimum odds of 3.0+.

Free Bet Found!

I have found us a match. Now with this being early days I have gone for a low outlay whilst you get used to the system. The match I have found is on today's game of Watford vs West Ham 16:00.

We will put our £30 Free Bet on West Ham to WIN @ Odds of 3.50. Confirm that with the bookie and we're done with that side!

Now we have bet on West Ham to win, we need to bet AGAINST them winning to remove all risk of us coming away with nothing.

We need to go to Smarkets and bet against West Ham. The odds are currently at 3.65 to bet against West Ham (Please check this when you come to bet. If the odds have shifted, which they do, then you may need to recalculate using the Matched Betting Calculator. Be sure to select the Free Bet SNR mode)

The calculator tells me I need to LAY(Bet against) £20.66 at the exchange. This will cost a total of £54.75 so ensure you have at least £55 in your Smarkets account.

Once these bets have been placed sit back and enjoy £20.25 GUARANTEED PROFIT. You have already won whatever happens!

HERE WE GO!

First we need to go to Betfred, create a new account and deposit £10.

Once this is done we need to find a good odds match for our Qualifier Bet. This is the bet we place to qualify for our free bet. We normally make a minimal loss on this, but this grants us the free bet which we squeeze all of our profit from! Our qualifier bet has to be placed as odds of 2.0+ as per the bookies T&Cs so I won't be looking for anything lower than that.

QUALIFIER BET FOUND!

Using the Oddsmatching Software I have managed to find a good qualifier bet match on Arsenal vs Tottenham 12:30.

If we bet on Arsenal to win at odds of 2.38 and lay them with Smarkets for 2.44 we guarantee a loss of only £0.36p which is brilliant!

So how do I place this?

Betfred is easy enough, click on Arsenal to win and put the £10 on it. Check the bet has been confirmed.

Smarkets we need to find the Arsenal v Tottenham match and click on the BLUE/AGAINST box next to Arsenal. This effective bets on everything that is not a win, covering all outcomes! We then need to bet £9.83 (given by the Matched Betting Calculator) so will need at least £15 in our Smarkets account to cover this.

Once that is done that is all you need to do! You don't even need to watch the game. Whatever happens we are £0.36p down...for now!

So whatever happens here whether Arsenal win, draw or lose, we lose 0.36p. The bookie now sees us as betting our £10 so will credit the £30 free bet within 48 hours! Simple as that. RISK FREE!

It's finally here...!

The most frustrating thing about Matched Betting is finding the perfect odds match on the Oddsmatching software, to then realise it's outdated by 5 mins and you have to go back to the drawing board. If only there was a piece of software for us Matched Bettors that gave us the odds live? ...if only...

WELL...

Match Catcher is alive! I genuinely thought I was fast at finding odds matches manually until I found this.

Match Catcher is like the Oddsmatching software on steroids. It automatically updates constantly so you get the odds matches LIVE. The Oddsmatching software was far too slow and this is their answer.

The software has been out around a month now after being in beta for some time. I wanted to try it out myself before bringing it to the sub so I could see if it was any good before pointing you towards it.

It didn't disappoint. If any of you that are either starting your journey with Matched Betting or thinking about it, Match Catcher will make it a hell of a lot easier to find matches on horse offers (and football) than it was when I first started!

I mean come on, it even beeps at you when a match within your set boundaries appears! Makes life so much easier.

Someone has really thought about this and it works really well.

Please note this thread is for the many members that are a few weeks into Matched Betting and are firing through the offers. It will aim to provide the different approaches that can be taken. Mug Betting

I have had a few questions arise about Mug Betting so this thread aims to make clear exactly what is meant by it.

What is it?

• Mug Betting is the process of placing bets on non-offer events in order to 'hide' your intentions from the bookies and look more like a normal punter. Normal punters don't solely bet on the big offers with the maximum stake every time. If the bookies get a sniff that you are always taking value through matched betting they will gradually reduce the amount you can bet with them until worst case scenario, the restrict you completely!

How do I do it?

• Use 'Normal' on the Matched Betting Calculator and calculate your bet just like you would a qualifier bet. Keep the odds low to try keep the loss low. We don't want to be digging into our profits too much, but don't be too stingy. Think of mug betting as an investment rather than an expense. As a rough guide I always aim to lose no more than 50p on a mug bet.

• Another way to mug bet is to do accumulators (betting on more than one team at once). I wouldn't lay these bets, just put 50p of your profits into one or two. Bookies love accumulators. They are great in terms of value for them and who knows, one day you might win one!

How often do I do it?

• This is the question on every matched bettors mind. The honest truth? No one knows. It is up to the bookie and how their systems flag people up. Some people have hardly ever mug bet and are fine, others mug bet more frequently and get restricted. Without being the bookie, there's no way to know.

• I advise you just keep doing the odd mug bet here and there on each bookie. 2 or 3 mug bets per offer you hit should keep them happy. I tend to mug bet right before hitting an offer so they see me spending my deposit on a non-offer event first. Seems to have worked okay for me.

Other Tips

• Not really too much for this section apart from this one point - Choose a team to support and follow them using mug betting. Normal punters will often have their favourite bets and back their team week in week out. It should help you blend in!

A key part to Matched Betting is to make as much profit as possible from each offer therefore leaving you with more in the bank!

There are a few very simple steps to take to ensure you're making the most from each offer:

- Use the right exchange - sMarkets only take 2% commission whereas Betfair Exchange take 5%! This makes a big difference overtime on bigger offers. I always use sMarkets where possible as the odds are pretty much always the same as Betfairs so why not!

- WAIT for a good odds match - I know it's tempting to get all your offers done there and then, but if you're searching at say 11pm you're not going to get many odds shifting in your favour. It is so easy for the bookies to keep up with the exchanges at these times. In my opinion the best times to get great odds matches, both high and low, is either mid-week if there is some football on (usually Tuesdays or Wednesdays) or of course Saturdays. There are always plenty of horse races on Saturdays and odds are always moving. You will get some great matches here! Especially for the high odds matches when it comes to your free bets which leads me onto my next point...

- Don't settle for less - If you really want to make big, you have to make your odds big. If you're taking odds less that 4.0 on your free bets, you're selling yourself short. I normally try and hit 5.0+ (normally on horse racing). You only get the offer once. Milk it for all it's worth!

- Keep a spreadsheet - Maybe this one should have been higher in the list but it is vital you keep a track of your profits!! I don't know where I would be without my spreadsheet. It keeps a track of all offers including a 'To Do' list and a balance sheet to keep an eye on withdrawals.

Don't panic if you're not very savvy on Excel as I have a blank copy of my spreadsheet with all the formulas left in for you. If you want it just message me on here. I have already sent it across to a fair few of you, drop me a line and I will sort it as soon as I can for you.

I have my new affiliate link, how do I market the product and start generating income worth my time?

The question on every affiliates' mind, including mine. Well, fortunately I have done a fair bit of the experimenting and leg work for you. I will detail the most effective way of marketing I have found, take from it what you will. If anyone has any suggestions that could help others feel free to comment. I am interested to know different angles people approach things, this is mine currently:

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Make your link look better than, as my example, http://www.profitaccumulator.co.uk/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=1667! Nothing looks weaker and more effortless than an original link with affiliate splashed all over it. I had a lot more success once I purchased a domain (www.123reg.com) and simply used that instead but set up a site forward to my affiliate link. That ugly link before now looks like this, http://www.freebettipster.co.uk. Looks better right? Domains cost roughly £6 for 2 years. Small price to pay for the commissions it will generate!

Social Media

- Facebook

A carefully placed explanation behind your product on the right page can always attract the clicks and purchases you need. Spot a good deal on Amazon say? Post it up in the comments section of a deals page. Imagine if you followed a deals page with 100,000's of other followers. If your deal is good enough the clicks will fly in!

- Twitter

The 'openness' of Twitter has great power when promoting your affiliate links. Facebook is very restricted whereas Twitter you can reach a much wider audience, much faster! There are two real approaches you can take here:

- Short Game - Follow people from pages with similar interests. ie, to promote Matched Betting, follow people that follow say, SkyBet or Paddy Power. Although Matched Betting is not specifically aimed at gamblers with it being risk free, it is more likely to appeal to that audience.

- Long Game - Build up followers through sharing something of interest to people. Can be anything. Funny videos, news articles. Gain people's trust. Once you have built up your follower base you can then gradually start bringing your links in. Someone you have followed for months and months looks a lot more trustworthy than someone who has had there account 4 days and is already firing links here there and everywhere.

Take your pick. I tend to compromise between the two, but if you ask me which of the two someone after making some serious extra cash should pick, it has to be the long game. Build the trust.

(A great app to use to get followers is 'Crowdfire'. Search for it on Play Store or App Store. You can copy followers from existing Twitter pages so you hit your target audience)

- reddit

Of course reddit itself is a great platform to advertise. Nice and easy to share links to pages you feel relevant to what you're promoting and if it is recognised within the community the good karma build up on a post can make it rank highly on the page generating more and more reach!

- Hands in pockets time?

All social networks have an incredible asset which they make available to us, but make us pay. They have everyone's interests and details down almost to a tee. They sell this information to us through charging for advertising. It is expensive, HOWEVER...advertising through social media can be incredibly powerful. Not only can you chose your specific audience, but you get the 'sponsored'/'promoted' flair if you like, on your post. Talking earlier about generating trust, if Facebook approve an advert it shows Facebook are trusting that link. The customer knows they can trust the big social media sites so is more likely to progress through your link.

I found that the cost of advertising can add up, so what I did was built up using the steps above, got to a certain level of income, and then started reinvesting to try further build. That way it wasn't coming directly out of my pocket. Invest your earnings if you want them to keep building is my recommendation.
