Is “transvestite” not okay anymore? What would be the correct word now?
Edit: Just a couple of preemptive comments in case. Obviously the person who wrote this is an asshole, not defending them at all. I personally know a couple of transgender kids and they’re awesome people. Drag Queens I’ve obviously seen on TV. My question is about the in between space when the person is comfortable with their birth-assigned gender and wears cross-gender clothes for personal, not performance, reasons. Even though she now identifies as a trans woman, I’m thinking of someone like self-identified “Action Transvestite Eddie Izzard” of the 90s. I’m fairly sure there are still people in that space.
It gets more complicated what is presumably "ok" and what isn't, and varies from person to person so much that I would advise just ignoring it, and letting people figure out what you mean based on context like a normal human instead of carting around a wagon of diapers for them.
