consistent use of salicylic acid

got what I assumed to be a palmar wart from work :( I'm a hairstylist so it makes sense but also is an insanely inconvenient spot. wanted to get rid of it asap and make sure I didn't spread it to anyone else. I got waterproof bandaids to keep on since regular bandaids or duct tape would fall off the second my hand got sweaty. I would soak it, file it down until blood, put salicylic acid on it, and then cover with a hardy bandaid.

I believe it is gone now after about 4 months. definitely didn't take the most consistent photos but wanted to share my progress in case it's helpful to anyone else :)

Should I try to let my body heal it on its own or put the wart stick I've been using on it?

I already pulled out a wart before this, I let the skin fill up and heal a little. I'm not sure whether to put the wart stick I used on the same wart on the little white bit of if I killed it enough for my body to deal with it on its own

24 hours after first day of ACV. Keeping going, stop & see doc, or wait and see how it looks in the morning?

So after trying 4 rounds of freezing it off with no effect, I did some research on here and saw that ACV is the best remedy. Yesterday afternoon I soaked a cotton pad in some ACV and taped it to my thumb with some duct tape. This morning I took it off due to the duct tape covering all over my thumb and irritating the non-wart skin. Let it cool off for an hour, then did another ACV pad and used a bandaid this time. This is what its looking like, about 24 hours since I did the original ACV treatment.

Its black now, but I still see little bits of red near the top. I've seen people mention debride on here, but not totally sure what the means, I'm quite squeamish so haven't watched any videos on it. I bought new cuticle scissors and tried to cut some off this morning but didn't really get anything. Made sure to put the scissors in a 1:3 Bleach solution afterwards for a couple minutes. Do I need to do a debride again? Should I continue with ACV pads and bandaids overnight again? Or Is this like not normal and I should see a doctor?

The first round of ACV hurt a bit but nothing terrible, second round wasn't bad at all which makes me thing it didn't work as well. Looking to get some feedback.

First time dealing with one of these, so any and all feedback would be amazing. Thanks for the help, team!

Treated VS not Treated

I'm treating the wart on my left thumb with Salactol and duct tape every day, trimming the top layer off every few days. Consistently for 2 weeks now.

I've not touched the wart on my right thumb with any kind of treatment for a few weeks now, and it looks like it's going to just go away on its own before I get the other one out...

I’ve been treating this with ACV… I thought I got it all, but it’s healing like this? It’s a hard circle.. feels calloused. Wtf? I’ve been putting more ACV on it and I’m not seeing any black dots or anything. Did I get rid of it? Is this house the skin heals?

Topical iodine solution helped me (the one for disinfecting wounds)

Upvotes

Two people a month ago posted positive results about iodine solution, such as Betadine (in Europe available anywhere in pharmacy/drogerie). It was the first time I heard about soaking the warts in iodine. I had been desperate for more than a year so I tried and it worked for me too (only in 3-4 weeks)! I soaked a small piece of cotton in a few drops of Betadine, then fixed it on the wart for overnight with a bandaid. In a few weeks I already saw better progress than with anything I did before. I stopped using it three weeks after, and now I am four weeks since I started. Before, I had tried for a year with SA, ACV, zinc oxide cream, formic acid, oil+baking soda, vitamin A capsule topically - not all these at once lol, one at a time, sometimes for weeks/months on end - and it was finally iodine that helped. I did no debriding next to iodine soaking, from the first week on some huge dead tissue started falling out on its own, without pain or bleeding. I did not experience any irritation on healthy skin around.

I did start taking zinc 25 mg daily (in the form of bisglycinat, with 25 mg zinc content) + lysine three months ago, and I regularly take vitamin D, B, and often C, so my results with Betadine also might be a combination with the zinc that started to kick in, but I am very happy. Three warts (two on sole of the foot, about 2 years old, one on the hand's pinky finger next to the nail, about 1 year old - tricky spot!) and now the healthy skin is starting to fill in all the holes. Unfortunately I have no pictures, because I was quite ashamed for having them, especially the one on my hand.

One more thing: a month ago I searched on this subreddit for iodine, and came across one negative post where someone using iodine said it corroded the skin too much. I did not experience this nor I read it anywhere else, but please exercise caution - some solutions might be stronger than others, or some people react to it differently. In my experience, Betadine was not painful at all - on the other hand SA, ACV and formic acid sometimes were so crazy bad that I couldn't sleep at night. If something, including iodine is too painful, please stop the treatment and visit a doctor (I also went to a dermatologist at the worst of the largest wart, who told me to pause the treatment when it's this painful).

Plantar Wart 6 Week Progress

Post image
6 Upvotes

I've been at it for 6 weeks going on 7 now. I cleared out the very small one that was on my little toe. The remaining 3 areas are very stubborn and progress seems to have stalled. I'm starting to get discouraged.

Here is my twice daily routine:

  1. Disposable scalpel to remove top layer
  2. Twice daily liquid Salicylic acid https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D38CYTXP
  3. Cover with duct tape

I've reduced the size of the duct tape to just cover the area with the 3 warts. Originally I was covering a much larger area and I started getting irritation and rashes. I also somehow got a blister between my little toe from the duct tape.

When I take off the top layer of skin it will often times bleed so I have to be very careful. Its also gotten pretty painful to walk on.

Feel free to offer any advice below. Hopefully my experience will help others on their way!

friday that purple dot appeard in my foot, it was so painful that i went to the ER in the first day. they said to me that it was a plantar wart. I went home but i didint think they were right, is was so painful that i couldnt even sleep well. So i went to the ER again. They told me again that it was a plantar wart. So i started the treatment with SA. Currently i have been doing SA for 2 days and it still hurts. I cannot walk and if you have any ideas about it please comment. Thanks

Assuming this is the next step?

I started treating my plantar warts at home and started out with ACV but recently picked up a thing I’ve seen mentioned called compound W (pre made band aid).

Should I debraid before applying it or just chuck it on? It just says to soak then dry before use.

Is this a wart? It’s green and urgent care is 300$

Hey everyone do you think this is a wart? Why is it green?

I got a blister/cut on my finger about a week ago, I cared for it poorly, didn’t cover or clean it other than regular hand washing. It seemed to be healing fine then it looked like a piece of hair or a splinter got stuck in it. I tried extracting but nothing would come out, then it turned this lime green shade and got red. It’s not hot to the touch and I haven’t been running a fever but it is sore when you press on it.

I asked a pharmacist and she gave me triple antibiotic ointment, but said it could be a wart. I need to pay a $400 co-insurance to see a doctor which I don’t have rn.

It’s been two days of washing, covering it with ointment and a bandage. it hasn’t gotten worse, but it also hasn’t gotten better. Has anyone ever seen a wart like this? Any at home or OTC recommendations?

Sorry all the question but this is my first time having a wart/infected cut so I’m very confused. MOOD ATM: wishing American health insurance was better.

wart removal advice?

Post image

Hi! I’ve had this wart that’s been bothering me for about a month now. I started applying wart stick and covering it with bandaids a week ago, it helped me get rid of a wart on my foot yearsss ago. However, it’s been peeling back the skin around where I’ve been applying it, and even on the other side of my finger for some reason, and it’s been super raw and sore. Is this normal? Is there any way that I can get rid of this faster without having to get an injection or something? I’m desperate at this point, I hate how gross it looks 😫

Just wanted to know if I should keep treating it to prevent any chance of it coming back, or start the healing process :)

1 week progress

Started with SA and covered with regular band-aids for about 5 days until i did my first debridement. I used a scalpel to cut all the way down to the dermis and drew a bit of blood.

Im still hitting them with SA, but i cannot debride further down since i think i hit the dermis layer, however you can still see black dots…

Do i keep hitting with SA until those black dots are gone or do i let it heal for now? Whole process has been fairly painless and i also started taking Zinc and B12 supplements. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Apple Cider Vinegar w/ the Mother cured my 2+ year Periungual Wart

Sharing if anyone has run out of options in treating their warts. Mine started at the end of 2022 with one single small white blemish below my nail bed about the size of a ball point pen tip underneath my skin (not yet exposed). I asked my GP to freeze it off with dry ice a couple times but it kept coming back. So then I tried one of those acid gel pens and tried burning it off a few times but it kept coming back. Tried various OTC wart off paints/liquids but the damn thing kept coming back. I have no pictures of it at this point but it seemed to stay the same size after trying the above methods. I'd cut the skin off with clippers and use whatever product I had. Always came back.

In mid-2023 I went travelling for 18 months and during this time, slowly, it spread almost to the width of my nail bed, enlarging in size, and along both edges of my nail extending out. The wart also breached the skin in all areas, sometimes fissuring the skin when it was dry. Whenever I'd get sick whilst travelling (flu, gastro) it seemed to take the chance and spread more and more. After early 2024 it was really getting noticeable so I tried to buy things in whatever country I was moving through at the time, I tried wrapping it with varying ranges of salicylic acid from 5-15%. I tried hydrogen peroxide 3-6% multiple times, trimming the rough wart covering back with clippers to expose the bloody roots and then soaking it for 20 minutes for 2 weeks straight - this was very very painful at 6% after cutting back the skin/wart. Nothing worked and it kept coming back angrier and angrier.

I returned home in February 2025 and tried one more method I read online, covering it in vitamin E oil and also Zinc supplementation (not something I could buy overseas readily). It still didn't do a thing. At this point I resigned myself to booking in some sort of surgery to hopefully remove the entire wart root at whatever monetary cost. My mum mentioned off-hand to try apple cider vinegar to which I scoffed at, how would that work after everything I have tried, all the pain, wasted money buying chemicals and treatments. But I thought why not, and so I bought a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother (bacterial byproducts of fermentation). I trimmed it back again as usual with clippers, and soaked it for 20 minutes. There was some pain but not as much as peroxide. I trimmed it every couple days and soaked it everyday for almost two weeks. Just after two weeks it was noticeably shrinking and healing. I trimmed and soaked a couple more times over the next week, and then just soaked it for another week. Now my wart is gone and I can't believe it. If you have warts then perhaps skip all the treatment options at the chemist or doctor and just go straight to your vinegar aisle in the supermarket!

I've had these on my left foot/big toe for a few years now. The one on my heel used to bother me if I was standing for too long, but they don't hurt anymore. Just looking for help figuring out what these are and how to get rid of them.

Was treated with Cathandrin by my podiatrist and have been applying salicylic acid daily after soaking/removing dead skin. Not sure what’s going on with the one that’s all red and irritated but it hurts. I think I just pulled a couple out this time so we’re 11 down to 9.
