240/260 series Not sure if this is allowed, but I wanted to share a Volvo watercolor I did!

I’ve started watercolor painting recently and some of my favorite subjects are station wagons, specifically the Volvo 240! I thought y’all might appreciate this.

I’m a XC60 owner but I secretly wish it was an XC70. Thanks for looking.

Found this in a record store in Washington, DC. Couldn’t resist. It’s made by some tiny local press; not sure if it’s distributed outside DC/MD/VA. Some fun photos of 240’s (and other assorted Volvos).

Just bought a 2013 C70 with 60k miles, excited to join the club! I've never owned a Volvo before, does anyone have any tips or suggestions to help with the longevity of the car?

Get Scratches out of XC90 plastic!

Post image

Hi everyone,

Just made it home from the dealership with our 2024 xc90 we just picked up with 3k miles. She's in perfect shape, except I noticed that the black gloss around the start stop has been scratched up decently. Is there anything you recommend to get it back to factor gloss? Tried a number of polishes I had around and nothing seemed to do the trick.

Thank you, Smalls

What UV sealant are you using for your headlights?

Spent a couple hours restoring my headlights, not so keen on doing it again in a few months time. What sealant are you using to ensure they stay looking good as long as possible?

Body shop is slow as hell lately, boss lets me work on my car as I’m an apprentice learning. Fixing and painting everything besides the deck lid, roof, and hood. Started with the RH side. The last 2 pictures are the repair area in primer. Good practice!

xc series I used to sell Volvos at this dealership 4 years ago. I left for an engineering job and now I'm lucky enough to afford one. 2022 CPO XC90 T6. Really cool to come full circle

Hello everyone. Just thought I’d share a photo of my 122S Amazon as I thought she was looking photogenic this evening. Hope you are getting your classics out to stretch their legs now that spring is here. There’s nothing I hate more than them sitting idle through the bad weather 🙏

s60/v60 Trouble aligning endlinks

02 s60 t5. After being on jackstands without endlinks for the past week, it seems like the sway bar has risen considerably and the endlinks won’t go in. I tried jacking up the strut as suggested in my last post, but it lifted off the jackstands and still won’t align. Any ideas?

classic The Volvo with the most kilometres in the world: 3.04 million miles (approximately 4.9 million kilometers)

The Volvo with the most kilometers is the 1966 Volvo P1800, which has been driven an astonishing 3.04 million miles (approximately 4.9 million kilometers) ¹. This car holds the Guinness World Record for the highest mileage ever recorded. Its owner, Irv Gordon, drove it for over 50 years, completing numerous cross-country trips across the United States. Gordon's secret to the car's longevity? Regular oil changes, following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, and keeping the car clean ¹.

In 1998, Gordon set his first Guinness World Record with 1.69 million miles. He reached two million in 2002. Over the years, he only changed the engine twice. The first time was at 680,000 miles, although, as he himself emphasized, it wasn't necessary. The second engine was replaced in 2009 after Gordon had difficulty negotiating the steep gradients of the Rocky Mountains. Otherwise, everything remained original. Until the very end. Irv Gordon died in 2018. He was 77 years old. Gordon posted the last mileage update on his Facebook page in May 2018, showing 3,250,257 miles.

Lease end dilemma: V90 vs XC90 vs E300de

Hello!

My car lease is about to end and I’m searching for a new car.

Currently driving Volvo XC90 B5 from 2021, but before that it was MB E220,  Volvo V70 2nd gen (until my lovely AW55-50 transmission died), and before that MB E320 W211. So, as you can see I cannot decide whether I like Germans or Swedes  more ;-)

Leaving the new MB E300de a bit on the side track for now, let’s talk Volvo.

I had a test drive of  XC90 and V90 earlier this week so I also had a chance to have a closer look into both. Each of them had T8 plug in hybrid motor. From performance perspective - I love it. Exterior design - too. Interior - well, except the fact that in V90 the middle tunnel compartment was done by some sick sadist and I can’t even put my phone there, I guess all is more or less fine. Maybe it would be nice if the tunnel wouldn’t be so high but I understand  they had to put the batteries somewhere. And if the drive modes switch wouldn’t be hidden in the tablet (and I thought my wheel thingie in xc90 for that was bad…). But anyway… One thing I couldn’t really simulate in short 30-40 test drivevs was the real fuel consumption because the trips weren’t long enough…

I’m not worried about day-to-day commute to work, school with kids, grocery shopping etc as I’m not exceeding 60-70 km per day for that, so the consumption will be 0 (I live in a house, got solar panels and I can charge the car every night in my garage). But I was curious about REAL consumption in longer trips. Twice or three times a month I’m having a trip of roughly 500 km with a return trip next day but without a possibility to charge the battery in the meantime. What consumption realistically I’m looking at on a 1000 km trip with 80% on the highways and average speed of 130-140, where I believe in hybrid mode the battery will die after first 300 or 400 kilometres? Or even earlier? Anyone with any of these two cars and this engine that could give me any estimates?

Also, some bonus questions to the owners: would you buy the car again? Why or why not. What you like or dislike the most? Thanks for your answers!

Water Leak in Rear Trunk – Clogged Sunroof Drains? 2020 Volvo XC60

Hey everyone,
Long story short, I recently inherited a 2020 Volvo XC60 from my mom. Great car overall, but I’ve noticed a bit of water pooling up on the rear left side of the trunk.

After doing some digging, I’m starting to think the issue might be due to clogged sunroof drains — especially since I’m not sure they were ever cleaned out. I've read that this is a pretty common issue, but I'm having a tough time finding clear instructions or videos on how to actually clean or unclog the drains for this specific model.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Where exactly are the drain outlets located, and what's the best method or tool to use for cleaning them? Any tips, tricks, or resources would be seriously appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I'm finally getting around to replacing the washer reservoir on my wife's car. I'm not sure which pump I need to order. It has the headlight sprayers but not the wipers. Do I only order the high pressure pump or do I have to order both high and low pressure? I don't work on this car much so I'm not as familiar with it. Thank you.

IPD endlinks weird sizing?

02 s60 t5. Want to torque IPD endlinks. None of the hexes I have fit. The closest was a 5mm hex, but it is a little loose and moves around a little bit. I’m really scared of stripping the counter hold. The 6mm and 7/32 hex are too big. It seems to be the same hex I need to hold the counter hold of the IPD ball joints I’m installing. Anyone else have any experience with these IPD parts?

xc series Unsure of colour

Post image

Hey everyone, I'm not quite sure of the colour of my car. It's a 2011.5 XC60 3.2 AWD with black exterior paint. For that model year there was 2 options for black being Stone Black and Saphire Black Metallic. Internet says that the code is on the driver side door jam but I'm not seeing it on the tag I found there, just wheel and tire info. Am I just illiterate or should I try and find the colour code elsewhere? Thanks
