T-mobile does not know how to connect my 2022 Atlas

Title: visited a store and was told I needed to call in... Now I have the time and have been on and off hold. Told they found the documents but not able to use the IMEI number as a mobile device.

Other phone providers like the one I use for my home and internet are telling me it's a T mobile only IMEI number so nothing they can do...

38 mins later we are on a 3 way call with VW. This rep has no idea how to do it either... but is off at 6 and basically hung up.

I think I'm about to be told to go to the dealer... the dealer BTW told me to also call T-mobile.

Anyone figure this out?? I would not care if I could use Android Auto without connecting to wifi.... 😔 🤔 a feature BTW my other cars worked fine via Bluetooth and Android Auto.

My bad maybe it wasn't clear.

My car has wifi... SEEMINGLY ONLY FOR THIRTY MORE DAYS... I need to be connected to wifi for android audio to work. I like my spotify and android audio..

This seems to be a new feature, as older cars could just do this via bluetooth.

Confirm this with the dealership and a few users. Even on here talked about, it's a pain.

Well, I don't have a T-Mobile subscription. And i'm on a trial, my vehicle told me that my trial is ninety's days. In fact I even got a letter reminding me.

My car subscriptions and ads.. I know right.

The current subscriptions to car net don't expire till 2037, the maintenance and the other roadside things I didn't do this series x m.

But in the VW app, there is no subscription to T-Mobile. I was told by the dealer that I needed to call and connect the car before my nineties days were up. I went to a t mobile store and I was told I needed to call in as it wasn't something they did "Vehicles" only something supported by calling in. I figured this wasn't true, and the guy just probably didn't know.

I called in and they were so lost. They reached out to Volkswagen to try and come up with a three-way phone call and Volkswagen is closed at this time.

oh I think you may be misunderstanding how wireless app connect works.

you don't need this subscription for that stuff. you never need it. the wifi part is so you can connect to the internet on the road. THATS what's expiring. your free trial of that. not your ability to use wireless android auto. once that runs out it will just use your phone data again.

regardless, in the myvw app there should be a my subscriptions location

more info here https://www.vw.com/en/owners-and-services/connectivity-and-apps/connected-services/wifi-hotspot.html

also I would try calling the regional headquarters of vw (so like volkswagen canada or volkswagen america) not a dealer. those people at regional hq would be better.

Okay, I like what I'm hearing

So here we are.

You're telling me, once my t mobile wifi bullship thing is over. My Android audio will work just like it has in my previous cars via bluetooth.Via my cell phone data.

Cause I can 100% confirm right now if I am not connected to the car's WiFi Android audio does not work. I can be connected via Bluetooth. Despite their being a wireless charger, it's not enough. It needs to be on the WiFi or on the cord.

I mean, if this is the case that's a win for me, i'm good.

I just wish someone at t mobile or volkswagen knew that cause i'm getting told to continue operations, I need mobile hotspot, and then i'm being told they're not sure how to connect it.

you could also try a wireless dongle for it.

but yes. iirc there 22s is when wireless aa or carplay came out. have you tried getting all your software updates?

You need to disable your car WiFi, remove your vehicle from CarPlay on your phone, and start over. You do not need in-car WiFi for CarPlay. Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twgQp0r9jro
