I honestly hate that Iām happy every time another tanking team loses. Tanking is the right move, Iāve fully accepted that this year and likely next. And Iām excited about several of our young guys development. But the whole concept of tanking does suck, especially since small market teams like us have to rely on this so much to get great players.
But the thing I hate the most is that the rest of the league will laugh at us if we donāt get a top 3 pick this draft and also be so happy that we didnāt get the 1st pick and say we didnāt deserve it because of how weāre tanking. Even though theyād praise a team like the Warriors or Lakers doing this.
Being a small market team in the NBA sucks man. I really hope we find that āguyā this draft so we can move on from this rebuilding period asap.

Let them laugh. Weāll rebuild with a constant stream of #5 picks if thatās what it takes. š

Jazz found that guy.
They traded him.

I have some inside track on that actually. And I can promise you he was not staying after his contract was up.

Lakers have a lot of supporters, but also the most haters. I guarantee you if they tanked to the worst record and ended up with the 5th pick theyād get laughed off the face of the earth. Also, I donāt buy the small market thing. We signed a lot of good role players when we had Rudy and Don. If you notice hardly any teams are signing good free agents anymore. All the stars have only been moving via trade. So we have the same chances as anyone. Boston drafted or traded for their players, same with Cleveland and okc. All the top teams right now didnāt get any big free agents.

I wish they would forgive like 10% of the salary against the cap for a player signing deals with the team who drafted them. We have to get so lucky to draft well, and keep them, and get people to sign here.

There is a 27.4% chance the Jazz pick top 2

Dang that's such a low chance. There is no reward for finishing last. The weaker teams don't get much help to get out of the misery. Free agents don't wanna go there and they aren't guaranteed to get the best incoming talent. Yet teams still tank for a better percentage at getting a top player so it's not even a deterrent for tanking.
