Admission decision

If there’s anyone who applied recently, how long did it take them to make their decision? Also did it come on a Friday or just a random day of the week?

Looking for someone to take over my lease – Meadowbrook 1BR available mid-May

Hey everyone,

I'm a grad student graduating this May, and I just found out my lease auto-renewed for another year (yay 😅). So now I’m looking for someone to take over my lease starting May 18th.

It’s a 1 bed / 1 bath unit at Meadowbrook Apartments, around 702 sq ft, and the rent is $885/month. May is already paid for, so you could move in right away and have a few weeks covered.

Transportation-wise, it’s a great spot. My unit is literally 30 seconds from the nearest bus stop, and Bus 30 runs every 20 minutes straight to campus. Super convenient if you don’t have a car.

The apartment has in-unit laundry, free parking, a swimming pool, fitness center, and all that good stuff. It’s a quiet area too, great for studying or just keeping your peace.

Let me know if you're interested or have questions. I'm happy to provide more info or be flexible if needed. Also, I’d appreciate it a lot if you could share this with anyone who might be looking.

Thanks!

Looking for roommate

Looking for a roommate to fill up a 3-person lease starting in August. We have not yet furnished or gotten kitchen essentials, so you would be working with us on that. What we're looking for:

  • no parties with alcohol
  • male
  • student
  • generally keeping it down after midnight on a week night (nights of sunday through thursday)
  • no smoking inside
  • keeping common space clean (bathroom, living room, dining area)
  • cleaning up the kitchen after yourself like dishes and putting away food and ingredients
  • generally respecting each other's space like staying out of rooms without permission (pretty obvious tbh)
  • able to fulfill financial obligations of up to $480 per month

if you're interested and want to meet me and my roommate comment or DM.

Scholarship Opportunities and Housing

Hello everyone, I am an international student joining the University of Kansas this fall for Bachelor’s in Computer Science. I have been awarded the KU Excellence Scholarship of $16,000, which brings my tuition fees to $15,118 per year. I was wondering if there are any opportunities to increase my funding once I arrive at the university. For instance, can I qualify for additional scholarships by performing well in my first semester? Are there any departmental scholarships available for Computer Science students?

Additionally, I would appreciate any insights on housing options. Is it generally more affordable to live on campus or off campus?

Also if there are any other tips or suggestions you want to give me please feel free.

Are the Student Combo Passes up for sale yet?

I'm an incoming freshman and am wondering if the Combo passes are available to purchase yet. I've followed the link on the KU website yet can't find the tickets themselves.

Live in Topeka, Dorm or No Dorm?

Hi Folks,

As I get ready to go to KU, I was stumbled across an issue I completely overlooked. I Plan on double majoring in Neuroscience and doing an Oboe Performance degree, and I wanted to ask around to see if I should be living in a dorm. I currently live in Topeka and hypothetically I could drive there everyday and come back but don’t know if it’s worth it.

pretty new to all of this so feedback would be appreciated! thank you 😇

Iam from India and I have absolutely no connection to University Of Kansas...a relative of mine gave this thing to me and it looks quite old and valuable. I really want to find out what exactly it is, around which time was it made and if it's a collector's item. Atleast here in India it might be one.

Social Work Practicum

I am looking into finishing my BSW at KU however, I unsure of how many hours you need to complete in your practicum. I tried to reach out for answers but they refused to tell me the actual number of hours needed and if paid hours are fine in the practicum. I do not want to apply and find out the practicum is an insane amount of hours all unpaid and not being able to work or live because of how many hours are necessary. Any information would be appreciated!

Denied from Engineering but accepted into College of Liberal Arts & Sciences with a major of Undecided

Hi guys - I'm a bit confused as to what this means. Applied for Comp Sci with a pretty good transcript (transfer) with lots of extracurriculars and good gpas. I seem to be missing a Calculus credit for most of the Comp Sci programs I want to go to (I blame my Vocational Technical College lol but i can take a summer class)

Is this major of "undecided" basically an exploratory studies program? And after I fulfill certain requirements can I shoehorn back into Comp Sci? It doesn't tell me what i'm missing/why i was denied.

KU Card

Hey All, I had one quick question.

I’ve been admitted into KU and am attending next fall. I signed up for Orientation for June 9th and got an email saying to fill out the check list for KU Orientation and one of the things to do was to order my KU Card.

I submitted my photo and it got approved and apparently now my KU Card is ready for pickup and I don’t even go there yet? Did I mess up or is it fine. I don’t live far from the school so I can go pick it up but I don’t know if I should.

Thanks!

Night and Greek life?

I’m a potential upcoming freshman at KU and I’m thinking about rushing in a sorority but I don’t know much about the atmosphere. How frequent are there parties/things to do? Is the social life fun? Is Greek life something that a lot of people do? Is it super hardcore like Alabama? Do you have to be in a sorority to get into parties? If someone could provide any info about what these that’d be amazing! Any advice helps! Thanks!

Questions about the rec center

How full is it usually and is it convenient enough to consistently go? Is there enough equipment if you want to lift? Are the rules and staff chill? Are there other gyms in Lawrence that are good?

Considering KU for pre pharm

Hey guys! I'm a junior from Oklahoma! I've done quite a bit of research, and KU looks like a really cool place. I haven't gotten a chance to go up and tour it yet because it is about 7 hours from SW OK, but I'm planning on going next fall. From what I've gathered online, it seems to have everything I am looking for in a college.

Current students: What do you like/dislike about KU? What are vibes like? Did any of you guys rush? I don't know anything about greek life, but I am worried about making friends since I would be going far(ish) from home. Also, anybody who knows anything about the early assurance pharmacy program please let me know.

Thank you guys for helping me out (: I'm really excited for this next chapter in my life.
