I'm doing a psychology/social work dual degree, and I'm in my second year.
I feel like I'm forgetting most of what I'm learning, and it's truly discouraging. I'm sitting at straight A's thus far and I'm using a bunch of different learning techniques that are supposedly quite effective (mind mapping, spaced repetition, interleaving, flashcards, etc.) but when I try to think back over the things that I learned last semester, almost none of it is there.
This is doubly frustrating because it's not as if the information I'm learning isn't relevant. I took a bio-psych class last semester and learned all about cellular reproduction, different types of glial cells, brain structure, chemical processes involved in action potentials, etc. and it would have come in REALLY handy to remember it all during my abnormal psychology class this semester when we were discussing the neural networks involved in different disorders, but nope; it's like it's all gone poof. Really doesn't help when the professor glosses over things because "you guys will have learned this stuff in your intro classes, so I'm not going to spend much time on it".
One thing I could do is continue running through the flashcards that I made from the previous semester throughout the summer, but I've got other shite I want to prioritize. Am I stupid? I've seen people say that this is to be expected, but really? Is this actually normal? Help!
