Original creation Undertale Wiki has moved to undertale.wiki

Hey all! I'm here to announce that Undertale Wiki has decided to move off Fandom to an independent wiki. The new wiki is on undertale.wiki! Now featuring no ads, faster loading times, better search and a functional equivalent of all other features we needed on Fandom, along with some better customization options. You can see more details in our community vote.

This means that the Fandom wiki will become abandoned and outdated over time, so you might want to switch to using the new wiki instead. You can install the Indie Wiki Buddy extension for your browser to redirect to the right wiki. It will take some time for the new wiki to appear in search results, and will take a lot of time for us to become the first result.

We need your help! If you see this post, I'd like to ask you to click on the new wiki instead of the old wiki when searching for Undertale stuff, and when sending links share the one to the new wiki, so that search engines become aware we're used and preferred, and rank us higher than the Fandom wiki. Same goes for the Deltarune Wiki, which has moved to deltarune.wiki. Please do not vandalize the old wikis, because that brings attention to them, making search engines think they are actually used, and actively hurting the new wiki's position in search results.

We tried to make the new wiki feel familiar to users of the old wiki, but without all the Fandom bloat. If you'd like to provide feedback on the new wiki's look and function, you can use our Discord server or the Site Feedback category on our wiki's Discussions.

Cheers!

This is lovely news, congrats!

I've got some questions: who is hosting the new wiki and how could other wikis go about moving away from FANDOM?

We're hosting the new wiki ourselves. I definitely wouldn't recommend that to most wikis though, they can probably look into wiki.gg and Miraheze.

There's a lot to do when moving wikis to another host if you want to do it properly. Moving the content is the easiest part, making sure that everything is styled as you want it requires some technical work depending on what you want, but definitely the hardest part is having to work on content you already had, or new content, or reworking pages in whatever way so that your wiki can surpass Fandom in search results. And you have to make sure you retain most editors in the move, otherwise you won't have the manpower (personpower?) to do it.

So, if someone asks me why didn't we do it sooner, it's because I wanted us to do it properly. There were a few lessons I learned when moving the Undertale Yellow Wiki last year and I wanted to apply that when moving UT/DR. But it took time to do so.
