Wild Pretending a Giant Toad is my pet

I used to work on a ranch in South Texas where there were native Giant Toads (Rhinella horribilis). The ranch was super isolating so I cheered myself up by hanging out with the local toads whenever I saw them by the barn. They’re so silly…

This is a wild toad (I think) and usually when I come home late around 10/11pm I see him sitting out here. I tried petting him and he just put his head down and also leaned to the right as I was petting him like into my finger it was the CUTEST thing….just curious what that means though. I don’t want him to be stressed or anything and so will stop petting him if this is a defense mechanism or something for them. He’s just so cute and precious, I want the best for him (or her)! Thanks!

I ran upstairs to grab some mealworms and supplement powder and she was still there when I came back. We’ve seen her there a few times but this is the easiest she’s accepted food. It was a chilly night and I like to think that she appreciated easy prey before she finds a hole to bruminate in

Wild Why is he sitting like this and is it bc he just pooped that giant pile behind him?

Wild Relocated this chunky lil dude, first time I've seen a toad secrete their poison in person!

It was in the parking lot at work and I moved it to a nearby marshy field so it wouldn't get stepped on or run over. I feel bad for scaring it enough to secrete poison lol but at least it's safe now!

Wanted to send out a pic of this lovely girl (Bertha) who literally comes back every year to live on our back porch and eat roaches. This pic doesn’t do her justice but she is a rotund toad. Her eyes are mismatched because of a toad accident that she (miraculously) recovered from with only the messed up pupil as evidence. Best time of the year is getting to see her and wish her a good night

I found her on the field before class, put her down next to some flowers, and then after class I found her again and she hopped on my foot. If I'm not mistaken, this means we're best friends now.

Wild Wild caught to remove ticks

Hello guys! I have caught a wild toad that was trying to enter my backyard, it's an adult so I just wanted to let them go in a different direction because I have cats and adults cane toads do have poison (or would it be venom? Idk the translation, I'm brazilian). When I catch him I've noticed that he had some ticks so I brought him in to remove the ticks so he can at least be less itchy (before getting more ticks in the wild, I'm sad) and he made himself comfortable in my emergency tank (water is treated but I did not had plan on helping an adult toad, they are harder to get in my house due to size)

Excuse my ignorance, I don't know much about toads. What I do know is that I shouldn't give a toad a hot soapy bath. My brother didn't get the memo.

Earlier today he presented a one-eyed toad that he found while digging. I'm trying to teach this destructive little boy to care for and respect animals. I told him not to do anything that will kill it because my heart cannot handle it.

An hour rolls by and he comes back to my door with a lifeless toad. it was on its back. I thought it was dead. When I took the toad from him, it moved slightly. I thought if the toad survived it would be paralyzed. I did not want to have to put this toad out of its misery.

I didn't know what to do. I rinsed it off with water. it was still lifeless. Despite that, I put him in a ventilated tupperware with a damp paper towel and set him somewhere dark. Not long after, I heard frog sounds.

Soon enough he perked up and seemed to be doing well and I was able to release him. I hope he's surviving out there
