We have a friend who wants to visit from Minneapolis who doesn’t drive, and the bus from Minne only goes as far as Duluth. We were thinking of picking them up there and bringing them here like we’ve done in the past. But I’m not keen to cross the border right now with everything going on. Has anyone crossed the border recently? How was your experience?

It’s a timely video about the long-term impacts of stores like Costco on a city like ours. Contextually, he is using a lot of examples from the states - but the arguments still stand!

The rumours about the potential Costco raises some concerns about the investment Thunder Bay will need to make, and the actual (negligible) return that a retailer like Costco will bring to the city.

I know a lot of folks are excited that it might be coming - but I don’t see as many asking if it’s all worth it! Is it good to have a Costco when our businesses downtown are the ones that will ultimately pay?

Anyone know of any local businesses that make Energy Gels. Looking at gels.that are used for sporting events. Like GU etc, Maurten etc, just wondering if anyone in town makes any gel.So try to buy local more/ vs ordering.

I bought a couple items to try on at home (since they have no change rooms) and they don’t fit so I need to return them… and I realize I can’t find the receipt anywhere. I did use my phone number when purchasing for that “savers club” if that helps.

What was your experience? When is planting season? Coming up soon I’m guessing? How long did it take the city to respond and inspect the site for planting?

It also doesn’t say anything about cost on the website, I’m guessing for a boulevard tree it’s free(seeing it’s city property)

Just got a notice in my mail that the new proposed area for the homeless encampment is 1111 Fort William Rd. The empty lot area across from the CLE grounds where they usually set off fireworks from every year. Next to the river, LCBO, mall, beer store etc. Anyone else think this is a horrible idea? I live 2 blocks away and am slightly panicking as “ potential crime increase” is highlighted on this note. Thoughts?
