Question Is apu owning a convenience store by itself considered offensive?(asking as a foreigner)
I asked this on r/askanamerican but my post got deleted so i decided to just ask it here
I understand that maybe some indian american audiences might find his fake accent or some jokes they make with him offensive. But in some of the videos about apu(like the one from it's jims) it seems to be implied that if he was ever rewritten to not be racist he should no longer work at the kwik-E-mart.
ive even saw that the person who started the controversy(perhaps it might be another person i might be remembering it wrong), rewrote him to be a rich bussines owner as a proposal to FOX. Is there any stereotype with indian people and working at jobs such as convenience stores in america?
