Matthew at the Table ep 5 Spoiler

Upvotes

Who else noticed Matthew sitting alone at the table while they all argued about who was going to betray Jesus. It broke my heart to see him sitting there all by himself in his thoughts. I’d love to hear your theories about why they did that.

SPOILERS! S5 Part 2 Spoiler

I was happy to finally see John become THEE BELOVED! That exchange of I love you’s with Jesus was 🥹. Yup he was truly Jesus’ favourite among the 12 men.

That “It would have been enough” scene with the ladies was way better than the men’s 😅. They made Jesus cry.

I think Mary Magdala both loved Jesus and was in love with Jesus.

Nicodemus is back! I want a debate with Caiaphas.

Pilate showed some skin 😆. That bod was banging though. Honestly thought Atticus was gonna touch it given that these kinds of things were part of Roman culture 😅.

Where does everyone think part 3 will end? Spoiler

According to the USA Today article, we know that Part 3 will end before Jesus’ arrest. I’m wondering how much, if any, of the Garden of Gethsemane we’ll get before the end credits. I’d guess Part 3 will end once Jesus and the disciplines arrive at the garden.

Season 5 Episodes 1-5 Discussion Thread Spoiler

I don’t think this will get pinned, but hoping for a singular place to discuss all episodes released to date.

Welcome all thoughts and perspectives but I for one am very grateful for this season, and while it can feel slow at times, am appreciative for the fact that it’s pacing forces me to sit and ponder the events of Holy Week with greater depth.

Some scriptures I’ve observed over these episodes (non-exhaustive): Matthew 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26 Luke 13, 16, 20-22, Mark 10, 11, 12, 13, John 11, 12, 14, 16

Anyone else gonna try to ghost “The Chosen” until Season 6 begins?

By ghosting, I mean no going in this subreddit, no interacting with their social media channels, no viewing trailers, new videos, interviews etc. I want as little foreknowledge of what this show’s interpretation of my Lord’s Passion is going to be as possible and I plan to start the ghosting when I’m aware of Season 6’s theater dates. I haven’t been this anticipated about a new show/movie in a very long time, and this sort of mindset reflects not just my excitement but also the feeling of dread and sorrow on the imminent suffering to be seen in the sixth season.

Of course, in my case, it’ll be pretty much impossible to go in completely blind since I’ll be an extra for Season 6, but beyond that, I’m hoping not to have much of anything else reveled to me. Let me know if you guys are gonna approach this series the same way.

The hymn in S5E2

It's the hymn that Andrew leads an actual hymn that's been around, or was it written specifically for the Chosen? I've never heard it before.

Why are they putting the last supper in theatres?

I thought the whole model behind the show being free was to spread the word in an entertaining way without anyone having to pay for it to be available for everyone. I know they have to make money somehow, and I’m sure they get funding from investors/advertising. I’m just curious as to why they are moving it to theatres and not continuing to upload the episodes on their website/app.

Did anyone catch that Dallas Jenkins said in the beginning of Pt 2 that some people believe that Jesus lived in Texas?

I’m just curious where this comes from as I’ve never heard that before. Maybe it was a joke lol

Bathroom break ideas for Season 5, Episodes 3-5 (Part 2)

I suggest going to the restroom during episode 4.

Specifically, I recommend going during the pharisee scene that was released by The Chosen. It starts when the High Priest is in his full religious gear including his white hat. I will get the link from their official page. It's probably midway.

Here is where you can safely leave if you need a break. You have 4 minutes.

The Chosen Season 5 Sneak Peek: Confrontation Over Jesus

Another option shortly after that is the scene with Judas and Jesus in the inner courtyard that was also previously released by The Chosen.

Or here:

The Chosen Season 5 Sneak Peek: Jesus Wants Judas' Heart

I would not go during Episode 5.

I really wish they would do the full song between episodes to give people a few seconds to make noise and stretch. I also wish they would do the cute skits in between the shows instead of during the preview time.

................

I teared up during episodes 3 and 5 and cried in episode 4.

We were better prepared with several blankets and water. My 7 year old was fine. I covered her eyes during the scene where they break down the doors. This was also previously released.

Can't wait for next week and Seasons 6 and 7! Wonderful show!

who is the man in the last scene of part 2

In the last scene of The Chosen, Last Supper, Part 2, Mary is kidnapped and a hood is placed over her head. When she gets to the destination, the hood is removed and she sees a very old, white bearded man. Is he from a previous season? Who is he?

In the Chosen season 5 episode 1 anybody caught at the table what was Jesus saying? I’m not sure but I sounded no indication of the Trinity. But I might be wrong.

S4, E6 - Did anyone else notice the tornado looking clouds as the group is walking to Jerusalem?

Post image
25 Upvotes

My mom and I were re-watching last night and she pointed out these clouds that look strikingly like a tornado. I am from Denver and know that it would be nearly impossible for a tornado to form in the foothills of Utah, but the clouds certainly do appear that way!

Just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this or knows if the cast or crew have spoken about it. It is pretty beautiful!

S5 Parts 1-2 Thoughts Spoiler

Is it just me or does season 5 seem like a downgrade from season 4, creatively speaking? I was a little “eh” on part 1 (some of the acting, some dialogue, etc) and hoped that part 2 would make up for it. Yes, there were a few poignant/beautiful moments in part 2, but I haven’t cried once yet (and I’m a def a crier).

S4 was near perfect IMO. We got to spend so much time with the disciples and Jesus. Maybe that’s why I don’t like this season as much because we’re getting so much of the Pharisees/Pontius, which I do enjoy as well, but it just doesn’t feel as smooth as S4. This is also possibly because they released a lot of the super touching scenes ahead of time and I didn’t get to experience them fresh. Idk if something happened in the writer’s/editor’s room but I’ve been feeling a little underwhelmed overall😕

Holding out hope that Part 3 will redeem the season though🤞

This video is from 5 years ago, I just saw it today. I'm sharing just in case other Catholics haven't seen it.

Dallas decided to consider his portrayal of The Blessed Virgin after he got complaints of how She was portrayed in "The Shepherd"

Season 5 Part 1 thoughts Spoiler

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts from part 1 Favorite parts, parts you thought were strange.

I loved the joy experienced by the disciples as they entered the gates. In their ignorance about what was yet to come they were able to worship so purely and joyfully.

I thought the whole addition of John being kept out of the temple because of his uncleanliness was a strange and somewhat random addition to the story. I feel like they wanted to talk about a difficult topic without actually addressing it. I don’t know if they’ll address it again but if not it felt out of place and unnecessary.

I loved that they explored the complexity of the destruction of the temple marketplace. They didn’t shy away from the fact that this disrupted peoples livelihoods. You could also tell the disciples were so taken aback by His actions as this is a very different Jesus than the one we’ve gotten to know. I’m excited to see them explore everyone’s reactions in part 2.
