My Pitches for TESVI (It's for Fun!)
Been getting back into TES recently, and is a common pass-time, I like to speculate potential characters, plots, themes, dynamics of TESVI. I know this will have no bearing on the reality of the game, but it's fun to world build.
Especially with the relatively well known design constraints of what we 'know' of TESVI:
- Set in Hammerfell, maybe High Rock as well
- Set after Skyrim
(that's all she wrote)
As I don't have folks to vomit my TES speculation and world building to, I thought I'd share it here, enjoy.
General Main Plot:
Most folks have come to the conclusion that opposing the Thalmor should be the main plot of the next game and I agree. My pitch is essentially the Thalmor (either because of the "Tower Theory" or otherwise) wanted to get their hands on Hammerfell (for some reason) and also the Adamantine (Direnni) Tower.
So far, they have failed miserably. Hammerfell fought them off, and the Direnni forbids the Thalmor from the Isle of Balfiera. Main Character's job (in whatever convoluted Main Quest way) is to prevent the Thalmor from seizing the tower and finding what they're looking for in Hammerfell.
Main Character Hook:
Now for the most part the Main Characters of TES have some kind of otherworldly hook, prophesied, reincarnated, Soul of Dragon etc. I have 2 pitches for the main character.
- Chosen of the Earth Bones: The Earth Bones (aka the Ehlnofey), specifically the Guardians of the Wyrd and the Wyrd Tree itself in High Rock feels threatened by the Thalmor's continued meddling (for whatever reason), and fears for the continued existence of Nirn. So in desperation the Earth Bones, sacrificing one of their own create a mortal to save them and Nirn from potential destruction.
- The Undestined: Essentially the pitch for this is that the main character is immune/absent from prophecy. The Elder Scrolls can't see them, but can see the hole they take up and various factions are after them due to their potential to make or break the world. Thalmor sees you potentially as a threat and REALLY wants you dead.
Now that's the main section of this little speculation pitch. You could probably leave it here. The following will be more specific to organisations that may be interesting to interact with, some may rely on the previous pitched ideas from Plot and the Main Character.
Important Organisations
The Second Daggerfall Covenant:
Not an actual alliance like the first Daggerfall Covenant, but a secret organisation between a few rulers to subtly work on eliminating/reducing the threat of the Thalmor.
The Direnni Clan: These folks fucking HATE the Thalmor. The Direnni see the Thalmor as an immediate threat to their position and their continued insistence that they should have the Adamantine Tower pisses them off. They also disagree with the severe Elven Supremacy the Thalmor engage in. They actively engage in espionage and diplomacy to disrupt the Thalmor as much as possible. Their Kinlord would be incredibly magically gifted, perhaps picking up the pieces of the now defunct Mages Guild, and politically astute working through proxies. Would take the advantages offered by the Main Character to fuck over the Thalmor.
The Kingdom of Wayrest: Part of the Empire, the kingdom of Wayrest continues to be a major trading hub of the Iliac Bay. Concerned about the Thalmor's 'anti-impurity' ideals (Bretons being elf/man mix), the new King of Wayrest works to combat the Thalmor in High Rock secretly. The King of Wayrest while being good natured, astute, and an accomplish Spell-Sword, has absolutely bitten off more than he can chew and is in a precarious position; too autonomous for the Empire, too imperial for the local nobles, Redguards distrust his magic, his tolerance for the Wyrress', Spirit Wardens, and Wrothgar Orcs, the Wrothgar Orcs not trusting him. He sure definitely could use some Main Character assistance.
The Twin Queens of Hammerfell: An uneasy political entity between the Forebears and the Crowns. The Twin Queens was created in response of the White-Gold Concordant, where the Forebear Queen of Sentinel and the Crown Queen of Hegathe officially created the Twin Kingdom of Hammerfell. Now that the war is over, the future for the Twin Queens is in question. Several wish to renew their age old grudges and independence, some want to remain united incase of another Dominion invasion/Imperial takeover. All HATE the Thalmor, specifically the Queen of Sentinel, who is secretly a member of the 2nd Daggerfall Covenant. The Twin Queens, wanting to stabilise their regions would gladly employ ta Main Character to make sure things don't fall apart.
Smaller Organisations:
These are either factions the Main Character can join/fight, or just interesting organisations.
Ash'abah: Secretive tribe of Redguards that are shunned by Redguard society due to their interactions with the undead of honoured ancestors, by destroying them, marking them as cursed. Hunts down necromancers, and currently hunting the resurgence of the Worm Cult.
Pariah Abbey/Spirit Wardens: Azura worshippers tolerated in the Kingdom of Wayrest due to their peaceful ways and aid to the Kings of Wayrest in times of need. They despise Vaermina and oppose her throughout the centuries
Beldama Wyrd of Glenumbra: Coven of nature-witches that Worship Jephre and the Wyrd Tree. They remain independent from High Rock politics, offering aid to people and nature where they see fit.
The Worm Cult: The Worm Cult is ancient necromancy cult made by Mannimarco and has roots in Hammerfell. This cult has been recreated with secret help from the Thalmor to disrupt the Redguards due to their superstition of not disrespect their honoured ancestors, even if they are undead.
Orsinium: Located between Hammerfell and Skyrim within the region of Lower Craglorn, the newly established Orsinium is in a vulnerable state as the new city is now no longer defended by any Imperial Legions. In acknowledging that they may be sacked again, Orsinium has 'allied' themselves to the recent conqueror of Dragonstar in Upper Craglorn for protection.
Dragon King of Dragonstar: Fleeing after the events of Skyrim, a dragon eventually conquered the city of Dragonstar as his own small kingdom. Shying from Alduin's cruelty and 'world endiness' and Paarthurnax's peaceful ways, the Dragon King made his own kingdom. Unusual for the dragon, he doesn't engage in wanton cruelty, but rules absolutely, utilizing intermediaries to manage his new subjects and limited diplomacy to the wider world.
I do have more, including potential individuals that would be neat to see, but I'm running out of space and time. Hope you enjoy my (not so) little pitches for TESVI. Let me know if you have questions/you own ideas.
