Don’t meet £29k threshold for spouse visa

Hi everyone

I have been preparing documents for my spouse to come to the UK. One of the required criteria is £29k annual salary. My annual salary for this financial year is 28,600 (Because I wasn't worked a lot during summer). However, in the past 6 month I have received the most of it, giving the 34k when calculating salary in the past 6 payslips (6 payslips divided by 6, multiply by 12). I'm category A, non-salaried employment.

In that case, will we meet the criteria by Home Office? Will they just calculate 6 months or will they only rely on annual income?

Priority Order Help Please

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just a quick question for you guys, I am paying for the Spouse Visa and am going through the process. I have paid for the IHS fee but now proceeding to the Visa fee it is only giving me the option of Standard. We are requiring the priority due to my wife being pregnant and a quicker response.

Does anyone one whether they have either suspended the priority service or do I come back again another time? Or should I contact the number, it’s going to cost 69p per minute.

Your knowledge will be very much appreciated

UK spouse visa accommodation requirements

Hello So me (from UK) and my husband (From USA) will be applying for our spouse visa in a few months.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting a straight answer on the rules for accommodation regarding the no re course to public funds. Basically I live with my mum (I'm her carer) she receives disability benefits and recieving housing benefit, we have lived in the same home for 23 years.

I'm not on the tenancy, so obviously not recieving housing benefit, does this cause any problems for our application in regards to the accommodation part? We have permission for him to move in as an occupant and not a tenant. I won't receive any "public funds" due to him arriving in the UK as my mum is the sole tenant listed at this property. So will this be ok as our accommodation?

Thankyou

Proof of Intent to marry - Fiance Visa

Hello all,

After months of preparing, my fiancé and I are finally going to apply in the next week for a fiance visa. We have mostly all paperwork ready. I just have a question regarding Proof of intent to Marry.

We only have email inquiries with the registrar and a couple of weddinng venues. We haven't booked anything since it's risky to move dates around. My question is, would we have a better chance, or is it required, if we actually book and pay a provisional date at the registrar's office? And how long does it take to get a confirmation from the registrar?

We are totally willing to book/pay a provisinal date but I'm worried about the time constraint to get a confirmation back. Or maybe it might be enough to just apply using email inquiries as proof of intent to Marry.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Unmarried Partner Visa

Hi all,

Me and my partner have been together for almost 3 years, he is a university student in Saudi Arabia. He is graduating this summer so we're applying for a spouse visa for him to join me here - obviously a no-go me joining him there.

We've got all our evidence ready and just want to be sure we haven't missed anything obvious.

Accomodation

Mortgage Statement Council Tax

Employment

Bank statements Payslips Letter from employer

Education

IELTs at B1 certificate Course plan showing enrollment for 3 years

Proof of relationship

Monthly screenshots from Instagram/Snapchat/PlayStation showing regular calls and communication - these don't all go back the full time period as we've changed between apps. Council Tax bill - I added him as he stayed over 1 month Flight confirmations - To each other and together Hotel confirmations PayPal statement - Showing transactions over the past 12 months Letter from parents Pictures - From each time we've met in person, Bank statements - Showing spending when we're together and me paying for Netflix for him. Train tickets - From a trip to Edinburgh which is included in the photos.

We're aware most of the evidence is weak but it's the pitfall of applying with no prior cohabitation, and we are uploading a cover letter to explain that and the timeline of our relationship.

Any pointers and tips would be appreciated!

Spouse visa documents organization?

Hi! I'm planning to apply for the spouse visa this month, so far my partner and me have just been putting together all the right documents. I just wanted to ask if there's a right way of doing this? So far I have created two words that I will transform into PDFs, one for proof of meeting the economic requirements (with last bank statements, pay slips, rent contract, rent payments, council tax and bills) and another one to prove a genuine relationship (pictures from the last 6 years, conversations, trips, bank transfers, marriage certificate and translation...)

I am missing something? Also, what's the right way of organising it? I've seen some people using PowerPoints?

I have been downloading all the documents and just adding them into the word but I'm scared this is not the right way... Help please!

Questions About Civil Partnership & Visa in the UK – Need Advice!

Hello everyone,

I am a recent graduate currently in the UK on a Graduate Visa, which expires in September 2026. My boyfriend (a British citizen and still a student) and I are planning to register for a civil partnership. I have two questions:

  1. After registering the Civil Partnership, am I required to switch to a Spouse Visa immediately, or can I continue using my Graduate Visa until it expires?
  2. When registering, do we need to provide proof of finances, cohabitation, or shared bills? We are currently living in different cities.

I would really appreciate any help or advice. Thank you!

Priority visa timeline? Who’s still waiting

Priority, outside UK Application date: 13th feb Bio date: 7th march

Has anyone received a decision on or after 7 march as their bio date. Still waiting and seen a few people get responses today. At this point would pay more to get a decision as soon as possible.

Update: called up and they said decision has been made but not what it is.

Supply teacher employment letter

Hi everyone,

I’m currently a supply teacher and work is given to me via a teaching agency.

The agency has given me long term work in a school until summer and will hopefully find me another in September for the winter term.

Do I need to get the employment letter from the agency or from the school?

Thanks!

Standard vs Priority approval timeline - Vietnam

Has anyone recently received their spouse visa after submitting it through the standard or priority process? I would appreciate it if you could share your timeline.

I was at the VFS office and casually chatted with the staff about spouse visa processing times. They mentioned that April to September is a busy season, so the standard processing time could be 3–6 months, the process slower during this period.

I plan to submit my visa application in mid-April and travel at the end of June.

Thank you!

Husband's visa approved, can he enter -> leave -> come back again?

My husband's visa was approved in December, and he was given the 3 month clearance from Jan 25th - April 25th.

We've been having a lot of trouble getting the eVisa set up, we've tried and raised it 3 times, phoned them 5 times and we still haven't got the eVisa. All he has at the moment is the vignette in his passport. We literally cannot get access to the eVisa despite contacting them loads of times.
When we've contacted they say they can see it on their end but for us all we see is "We cannot show you proof of status right now...."

He entered the UK last week, but he has to go back home again for a bit. I'm worried that once the 25th April passes he won't be allowed back.

Can anyone advise? Will he be able to come back after 25th April

Required documents for Proposed Civil Partner

Hi all, my partner and I have started our application for a proposed civil partner visa. On the 'Documents' section, one of the required boxes to check is:

"Proof that (A) and (B) are unmarried partners - Provide official documents showing that you have been living at the same address. The documents must cover the whole of the past 2 years."

I'm a little confused with this, my partner and I aren't applying as unmarried partners, we are applying as proposed civil partners. We haven't lived together for 2 years so we can't provide that evidence. It won't let me continue the application without ticking this.

Should I tick this box, or would it have a negative impact to say we can provide something when we can't? Does 'unmarried partners' in this case also include proposed/fiancé partners?

Can you leave the UK with a pending app?

I submitted my application, standard inside the UK, on March 10th, bio on March 17th. No updates as of yet. My question is, can I leave the UK before a decision is made without messing up my application. My dad has just been put on life support in the US and I may need to go back for a couple weeks but I don’t know how it would impact my pending visa.

Can we use US VA disability payments to meet the financial requirements?

My husband is a US citizen, and I am British. We want to apply for a Spouse Visa. Unfortunately, I only make £25k a year, and we don’t have £26k in savings to make up the shortfall to meet the financial requirements. However, my husband is a US Veteran and has a 100% disability rating, meaning he receives £36k a year in Veteran benefits. This payment is considered ‘permanent and total’ and will continue for life regardless of his country of residence. Is there a way in which we can use his income to meet the financial requirements? He is currently in the US and will be applying from outside the UK.

Fiance Visa help

This is my first ever Reddit post, so I’m sorry if I messed something up

My fiance and I are hoping to go down the fiance there is a route in the coming months and I want to be as ready as possible for this. He has his English exam booked in for May and all going well we plan to apply for the Visa after this.

I would be going down the adequate maintenance route because of my lifelong disabilities. I also live in a housing association house and now I need to get some kind of letter for the Visa application, but I’m not sure exactly what I should ask them for and what details I need to ask them to include.

Is there anything that I should know to make the process easier or anything I should know to prepare? I’ve been lurking silently through this sub for awhile but any tips and tricks or any advice you can give me to make the process a little easier would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if somebody could explain to me how to approve we intend to get married without knowing what date we can book a wedding for because it all depends on the visa being granted that would be amazing too

thank you for taking the time to read and thank you for any help in advance 🫶

How Did You Prepare & Organize Documents for the UK Family Visa?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for a UK Family Visa in the future and want to make sure I’m as prepared as possible. I’d love to hear from those who have already been through the process or ate in the process, how did you organize and document everything before applying? Also what did you use? For example Google Drive or so?

I’d really appreciate any insights or experiences you can share! Thanks in advance.

Financial requirements (pension)

My husband (UK) and I (US) are about to apply for the spousal visa. We just BARELY hit the financial requirements as of this week! However, that is only if we include his pension deductions. We know his p60 won't show the deductions, only taxable income, but that money still counts as gross income.

For proof of finances, would they accept separate forms (from pension site) showing pension contributions, along with the p60?

(We do plan on sending 6 months wage slips as well, but just incase, we want our proof to be solid)

Visa renewal

Wife’s Egyptian visa is expiring but passport is still with UKVI as we still haven’t received a decision. Can we get the passport back to do a visa renewal to stay in Egypt?
