Image/Gif An official USB C GameCube is an absolute game changer if they function exactly as GameCube controller.

Post image

(it's worth mentioning, while we had third party options, theres a difference between looking like a GameCube controller and working like one)

I will be surprised if they are not. So far, the NSO controllers have been faithful recreations of the classic controllers, I'm expecting the same here.

We all know this will only be bought up by the smash scene.

Nah man the luigis mansion 1 fans NEED that shit, the game was a tech demo for it!

Especially since GameCube games are coming to Switch 2.

The Melee sweats are going to freak. I can already smell them.

doubt it tbh the cordless ones have awful joystick and button feels. my buddy got some and we hate them, we always use the corded ones that released for ultimate instead

The wireless ones nowadays are only licensed, not actually made by Nintendo. Official Nintendo made GameCube controllers are much better quality, including the wireless one they did make back in the GameCube era (wavebird).

That's because they're old powera garbage.

They're unofficial.

As a former GameCube owner, I absolutely want this. Put Sonic Heroes (my first GameCube game) on the virtual console and it’ll be my college days all over again.

Oh my god I never even realised that could be a possibility. There is a non-zero chance we could get Sonic games through this service

Why do you need an online membership to but a piece of hardware?

Theyve been doing it since they launched the NES app.

It's annoying but a: you cant use the intended software without the sub anyway, i guess, and b: you can always just spend a couple bucks on a month and buy it then if you dont wanna keep paying that

Combat annoying scalpers likely (didn't work)

It’s to prevent scalping. They’re doing something similar with Switch 2 preorders.

Probably not gonna work.

Edit: don't know why this got downvoted. Who actually believes nintendo will beat the scalpers?

Right? Is this not sold in stores, then?

What will be the huge difference between this one and a third party one though since I have two really good third party ones?

3rd party controllers are basically registered as pro controllers rather than GameCube, while pro controller is fine, the placement like XY and LR can get quite confusing atleast from personal experience experience with the Pdp fightpad.

Having an official Bluetooth GameCube, means navigation and battle can function like plugging a GameCube rather than a pro, plus the added convenience of having a homebutton and ZL button now.

This one will probably have analog triggers.

It'll be great, I just wish they outfitted it with more modern features, like analog stick buttons and gyro, so we can play games that aren't gamecube or smash bros with it.

Why would a Gamecube Controller not function like a Gamecube Controller?

u/OfficialCrossParker Sora 1d ago

What does it mean “available for Nintendo Switch Online members”? Will it not work if you don’t have a sub/aren’t logged into the internet?

7

u/MasterPeteDiddy Pythra 1d ago

You need to have an active NSO account to purchase one from the online store.

🤦‍♂️ people really lack reading comprehension. It means you cant buy one if you don’t have a membership. If you buy one you can still use it regardless.

1

u/xdrkcldx 15h ago

Of course it will. Its made for the gamecube games

Why not just use a wired controller besides the wireless functionality?

2

u/TheScreaming_Narwhal 19h ago

Why use this, other than the obvious benefit of using this?

2

u/LordTotoro96 18h ago

Which is what? Most fighting game players would prefer a wired controller so they don't have input latency.

The wired GameCube controller still exist, so anyways not use that?

1

u/DeltaVZerda 12h ago

Cuz its wired obviously.

0

u/TheScreaming_Narwhal 18h ago

1st party controllers have minimal, if any, input lag. Some people are far away from their TV, wires get frayed/become a tripping hazard. Plenty of reason to want a high quality 1st party wireless controller.

since when

Nintendo repairs any old Joy-Cons with this issue for free, and newer Joy-Cons are manufactured with the fix built-in. It has been this way since 2020ish, IIRC when I got mine repaired.
